In 2010 there will be a new football team in my area, The Bay Area Bandits (http://www.bayareabandits.com/). "What the hell league is that" you ask? It's The Women's Football Alliance (http://www.wfafootball.com/).
As I ran through the house jumping, celebrating, and otherwise acting like an over-caffeinated 12 year-old, I noted my mom's reaction (namely, ".....") and realized that it's likely that very few people give half a fart about the WFA. There's hundreds of these smaller sports leagues though, and many of them have been around for quite a while. So, who else cares then?
So who here follows a sports league besides the larger ones?
For those not familiar with smaller leagues, tell me where you live (or a major city in your area) and what sports you're interested in and I can find you your hometeams - you never know, if your favorite sport isn't one of the more popular ones you might just find you have an outlet hiding right under your nose.
PS, women's football kicks ass.
