In case y'all didn't know, you now have access to albums on your profile page. You can create multiple albums, set viewing/commenting permissions (private or public), and upload pictures to your hearts' content. The current limit is 50MB per user, but we'll probably open that up as storage space isn't a bank-breaker.

Since you have your own personal space to upload images of yourself, your family, your pet gerbil, your paintings, or whatever, there's no real need for the Artwork section any more, so that's going to go away. It's currently closed, meaning no one can post new topics in it, but I left it visible in case you want to copy your art back out and put it into an album.

Albums are not strictly moderated, but we do see new artwork as it's posted. No posting porn or anything like that in a public forum, please.

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. So will be there a thread like in Misc Disc for letting other people know it's time to check out your albums or do album updates appear for those people who are friends on your list?

Galliard will be deleted the next time we do an inactive member purge.

Also just letting people know "unoffically" for now, that all pictures uploaded to your albums, album comments made by yourself and visitors, and profile visitor messages are all being moderated. The rules that apply on the forums apply to all of the site.

If it's not appropriate in a post, it's not appropriate in these new features.

so then we should disregard this?

No, that still stands.

What I meant was that moderators and administrators will be checking over these features on users' profiles, not that they will have to be approved before showing up.

People shouldn't assume they can get away with stuff on these profile features that wouldn't be ok in a post, because they wont.

That's a good question about updates.

I'm not sure what to do about letting people know about your albums. I certainly want to provide an avenue for that, but at the same time I'd like to prevent it from becoming "album whore spam," if you know what I mean.

We'll think on it.

since the albums have a public and private setting, I would guess the person would pm their friends and who ever they would like to view it to update them of their new additions

Yes, any kind of announcement ability would relate to public albums only. With private albums, you just PM your friends.

what about just adding the update in your signature line? I only say this because I can honestly see people accidently posting things on the update post and with everyone puting their update on, others can get theirs pushed back if that makes sense. That or post it in your comments section on your profile page

I do know what you mean. I can fully see that thread getting used and abused, and it won't even get paid for it.

I like the idea of using a signature line, Uno, however, I don't always read signatures, especially if it's one I've already read.

Perhaps PM is the best way to keep it now. Maybe sometime in the future someone will develop an add-on for the feature that will automatically PM your friends list when you update your album.

Thanks!

true especially since we can only pm five people at a time and even I have to admit I don't read the signature lines :( an automatic pm going out to our contacts list would be cool, but I feel bad asking that with everything else going on and everything else we have gotten

Well, it's always one thing or another with updates and new features. I'm sure we'll all figure out something that will make sure we all appear as responsible friends who visit each others profiles with regularity. :)

I'll be sad to see the artwork section go. After all we've actually had a few art-related discussions there, not just little galleries, and I found a lot of good work by spontaneously looking into a thread by someone I didn't even know.

Without an art section it'll be hard to introduce new people to one's art.

Could we maybe keep the art section but regularly go through to delete old threads? It'd keep everyone's art highly accessible, it would take care of the art-announcement problem you've been discussing, and it won't take up too much space.

Are we forgoing the art battles that we were talking about? Or will we put those in Games or something?

I would assume Art Battles could take place in Contests. I know it's not a popular category, but it would seem the likely candidate for that kind of topic.

I still want them to happen just still trying to get myself readjusted after I myself suffered a casualty of the technological kind.

That is a good question though of where to put them. Maybe someone could start up a thread so we can discuss it.

Ok, I found it.

In the top navbar (User CP, FAQ, etc) there is now Community. Under that is Pictures & Albums.

The page (http://www.werewolf.com/vb/album.php) that comes up will show any recently updated public albums. So if you want to direct someone to your public album, just send them there.
