Kiyoshi ignored the whispers. He didn’t blame them for their surprise. The weakest Shinigami they know going to with a team to protect Rukongai from Hollow? He’d surely get the team killed if one did show up.
Kiyoshi had never excelled in anything, barely making it through the Academy, and the 7th Division got last straw and had to take him in. Nobody had ever seen him win a fight, ever, against anything. He spent most of his time being a guard for some garden for some noble family. He guarded flowers. That’s what the Division best suited his abilities for.
Unfortunately, that Noble family were going to get rid of the garden and that loosened him from such duties. With nothing else and everyone else having their own assignments, he was selected to be on this team. Selected with a ‘hey you’, not even by name. They weren’t expecting anything. The science people detected some rippling or weakening of spirit particles in Rukongai and a passage behind it to Hueco Mundo. There was a slight possibility of a Hollow passing through and causing a fuss, so a team are to escort some science geeks just in case one pops through while they’re repairing the thing. He had of course refused - too much effort - but the higher ups were stubborn and orders are orders.
“Just try not to get in our way!” One of them told him. He didn’t know the man.
“Uh-huh,” was the only response Kiyoshi could bother to give.
It was a field, away from the people, and the gizmos were people and had lights flickering here and there. As he contemplated sitting down for a nap the air ripped open leading to darkness. Out popped two hollow. One looking like a small T-Rex and another like a large man with four tentacles sprouting from his back. Kiyoshi stood there, unmoving, as the other Shinigami began to battle these two. The team got smacked by a tail and a tentacle wrapped around Kiyoshi. The Tentacled One carried Kiyoshi away along with one other Shinigami.
They were thrown to the floor of clearing in some woods a short distance away. Kiyoshi could hear the battle with the T-Rex One but lots of trees blocked any sight.
“I prefer dining alone,” the Tentacled One said before launching its tentacles at them. They were both hit, pummelled back.The other Shinigami got back up right away and drew his Zanpaktou. He ran to the Hollow as Kiyoshi watched. But tentacles grabbed the Shinigami, squeezed him a little as the Hollow laughed, then tossed him aside into a tree completely unconscious.
“That was a mistake,” Kiyoshi stated with a sigh, “I don’t like the others to see what I can do. Right now, nobody can see us. You should have kept him awake.”
“Is that so, puny Shinigami?” The Hollow chuckled. “Well, I thi-- AARRGH!” Blood splurted from the Hollow’s back, Kiyoshi now standing behind it with his sword drawn and trailing that blood.
“Shunpo,” Kiyoshi explained simply, “allows a Shinigami to move faster than eyes can regularly track. You lost track, you could not see my attack and therefore were open to it.”
“Sneaky bastard!” The Hollow roared, “You are underestimating me! I can track faster than others, your opening was my speaking!”
The Tentacled One was attacking but Kiyoshi was far too fast. The sounds of battle with the other T-Rex were indicating the Shinigami team were winning.
“I don’t have much time to play,” Kiyoshi said with a shrug, “I’m sorry, but I must finish this quickly.”
“Big talk for somebody who got one sneaky cut in!”
“Nagurikorosu, Hissori Kire!” (Strike To Death, Silent Cut!)
Kiyoshi’s blade transformed with a flash of black smoke into a smaller straight blade. The Tentacled One tried to grab him with a tentacle but this was a very bad thing for it do. Kiyoshi cut the tentacle with this new blade. The Hollow froze in place and screamed.
“What have you done?!” The Tentacled One’s voice was filled with panic. “I can’t see.. I can’t…”
“Sense anything,” Kiyoshi finished as he sliced off the other tentacles. The Hollow howled in pain but Kiyoshi paid it no mind. He finished the Hollow with a stab through the mask. The Hollow disappeared as Hollows do when they die and Kiyoshi’s blade returned to normal. He sheathed it and went to the other Shinigami who began to stir.
“What happened?” he said as he got to his feet.
“You were knocked out,” Kiyoshi stated impassively.
“What happened to the Hollow?”
“It’s gone.”
“How?”
“I got lucky.”
“It’s over?”
“Yes.”
I’m lying, Kiyoshi thought to himself as slung the Shinigami’s arm around him and helped him to the others who were cheering their own success. [I]It’s not over. This was a game. The Cabal Against Soul Society are testing you. If these weak Hollow give you problems then you don’t stand a chance against us.[I]

This is a Bleach larp. However, although all settings are the same, the characters are not. None of the characters from Bleach exist here. Likewise, none of the stories and events of Bleach have ever happened.

Arrancar and Vizards do exist but you cannot be one. There are no "humans with powers" (such as Orihime, Sado, etc) except the very rare 'race' of Quincy. It is your job to be a Shinigami working for or against CASS. Although, to start off with unless you're a CASS member you will not know of its existence.
You can be a Shinigami of any power level but keep it balanced - if you are very powerful in use of your Zanpaktou such as shikai, bankai, and lots of special techniques and powers you likewise cannot be excellent in Kidou.
You can be any rank of Shinigami between rankless member of a division, to Captain. You cannot be 1st Division Captain who is the Captain-Commander. Their are 13 Divisions and they are not the same as in Bleach - you choose if the division is focused on fighting or healing etc. Ranked spots of a division are "first come, first served". Also, nothing prevents you from being like Kiyoshi - captain level Shinigami but in a rankless position.
