Hello everyone,

As some of you might know, I've been playing the guitar for many years now and I've finally gotten pretty comfortable with playing for people. However, I don't get the change to do it very often so I'd really like to start making video much like this...

Avenged Sevenfold's "Afterlife" Drum Track (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZS4PfHJeFyc)

BUT with the guitar.

I've got the audio part figured out, but when it comes to video I'm lost.

Can someone point me in the right direction with programs or video recording products?

Thanks,

Shane

Yep, do you have iMovie?

Yep, do you have iMovie?

I sure do. I use Garageband for the audio recording through my Line 6 Studio UX1 audio interface.

Ok then that should be what you need to complete digital video editing.

So are you having trouble getting the video on the computer?

A good list of video editing softwares can be found here. (http://www.iskysoft.com/article/free-video-editors-comparision.html?page=126)

Thanks Klark, I'll make sure to give that link a good look up and down. If I have anymore questions I'll make sure to reply back to this thread.

Klark,

Here's another question for you. I've got the video part down, but is there a way to use an MP3 as a backing track, but somehow compress the guitar work in the MP3 low enough so that my guitar track would overpower the old one, but still be in good level with the rest of the MP3?

Perhaps that's possible using a program like Audacity. It's a free audio tool. Just do a Google search for it. I've had lots of luck with it, even being able to record audio going through my system using another program called Soundflower, which is also free.

Audacity has proven to be pretty good software. I recommend you take a look see at it and see if it is powerful enough to do your deed.

If you are able to single out the guitar, compress or remove it, I'd like to know for future reference.

Thank you, I'll check it out and see if it'll cut the mustard.
