Hello fellow Hideo Kojima fans,
I plan on using this thread to keep all of you who are interested in all games (as of recent) created by Kojima Productions up to date with news and updates regarding the company and the products put out by Kojima Pro...
As some of you might know, plenty of rumors have been circling about for a 5th installment. However, we know that it wont revolve around Snake because of what happens at the end of the 4th game.
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/index.html
That's the teaser site for the new game.
"5", "E", "3", and "e" flash behind the countdown. What do you think?
I think it's a Raiden based game due to his quote of "I am lightning. The rain transformed." from the 4th game. "5" could symbolize the 5th installment and "E" & "3" together seem like E3. But, I'm not sure what "e" my be.
Any ideas? Let us speculate!

Hello again,
So, another countdown has come and gone and according to what I read we have two more to deal with after this one.
With the new teaser countdown, we see the storm getting worse, some more numbers and letters along with a facial shot of what appears to be Big Boss.
At first I was a bit upset about this, but then I ended up finding this image from the MGS section of the PS3 forums...(In attachments)
It shows Big Boss on the right and on the left, what seems to be Raiden. However, it COULD also be Frank Yeager (Gray Fox) due to the missing right eye, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
Does anyone have any theories? I KNOW I can't be the only Metal Gear fan on this site...
Shane
Nah that's Raiden I know Grey Fox (http://www.aastudios.ca/Reels/04_Concept/Images/Grey_fox.jpg)(all time favorite game character next to Kain from legacy of Kain)
still think Grey fox would whoop raiden though I doubt he'll be coming back into the series as wicked as he was.

I see what you mean. Also, apparently Grey Fox was blind in his right eye, right? I'm glad that you know Frank well, cause that allows me to take him off the list of possibilities. Plus, I don't think that Cyborgs continue to grow hair after becoming a Cyborg. So, Frank Yeager and Olga both had SHORT silver hair. Raiden and Sunny are the only ones that have potential to have longer silver hair.
I know that Big Boss isn't Big Boss in the teaser for the 5th installment, cause Kojima noted it was his most recent clone. So, I'm thinking it's either another Snake clone or Johnny (as weird as that would be).
So, as for the Cyborg Ninja picture...
- Sunny
- Olga (Dead)
- Raiden
- Raiden Clone?
I'm opting for it being Raiden. I say this because it could easily be a picture of him during some injury that he sustained either in game, or after the events of MGS4. Even with brown eyes, he could have easily needed some kind of a ocular transplant. You know how these characters in MGS lose eye balls...:D
Shane
I'm still voting Raiden its definately him, besides, Olga was head shot,(Solidus smoked her good before whooping a couple MG-Ray's and she wasn't all that popular a character) Grey fox(Frank Jeagre) had a bright bright blonde hair last time I checked(could be wrong) and his helmet is solid with a single red eye he does have both of his eyes, but most of his body is mechanical surrounded by a hardened armoured exoskeleton(which was unfortunately crushed under Metal gear Rex's foot, albeit with more than a little effort) Sonny is a girl and much to passive and way to smart to be a mainline action character.
they basically rebuilt Raiden after the MGS2(he looks like a gilr) fiasco, and made him into a badass cyborg ninja ala-Grey Fox, I did a lil reading into him he was a tracker, a stealth nut and a world class blade weilder, not too mention he had a few screw's loose especially after the whole cyborgism. Bigboss was a mentor and father figure.
Raiden is basically a mirror image of the original badass, child soldier, stealth Nut, and got some ninja skills, not too mention the few screws loose, though not nearly as bad as my buddy frank. Solidus the perfect Bigboss clone was raiden's adoptive father.
see their basically the same save Frank had a tougher cyberbody(Raiden got stabbed quite a bit by vamp, Frank's armor was a little thicker) and Franks' got a lot of field experience since the big boss era.
Yeah I know waaaaaayyy too much about the MGS world.:beerchug:

So, Metal Gear Solid Rising featuring Raiden was announced. But, guess where?! You got it. The Microsoft event. No news on this being a 360 exclusive as of yet, but all in all, I'm happy that I'll be able to play as Raiden!

PS...
It has been confirmed that MGSRising IS coming to the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360 and PC.

As my last post to this thread was more focused on the new multi-platform installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Metal Gear Solid Rising focusing on Raiden; I am now here to fill you in on the newest "true step" (meaning that this is canon to the rest of the Metal Gear Solid games featuring Snake)...
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.
MGSPW is set 10 years after the events of MGS3 where you will see it take place in Costa Rica leading out to Outer Heaven. As you can probably tell from the graphic quality, this is a game that will take place on the Sony PSP and PSP Go (newly announced).
Expect to see this game on shelves 2010.

By the way, you got it, it's Big Boss!

Peace Walker? For the PSP?
I might have to check that out...alas, my PSP's battery life, I knew thee well!!
Now, about the other game...I'd like to help with the conspiracy theories, but I don't think I can really assist, as the only MGS games I've played are MGS 2 and 3.
I will, however, do this.

Peace walker looks great.
I mean Metal Gear Portable Ops on PSP was great, especially after the rather disappointing card based play of Metal Gear Ac!d.
damn turn coats,

I'm not angry about it hitting other consoles or the PC, however, I fear for those consoles because they will have to deal with multiple DVDs, changing them out and what have you, because as shown with MGS 4, the game used nearly all the space available in a Blu-Ray disc, which is more than 10 times the space available on a DVD. It'll be interesting to see how it works so that other non-PS3 players can play the upcoming installment. I would really hate to see it hurt the size or quantity of the game on the PS3 to make it fit appropriately on discs for XBox360.
However, there a possible work-around for that, because Microsoft has been working with Sony to begin production on a Blu-Ray add-on similar to the HD-DVD drive it once sold.

I just heard that MGS: Rising will be exclusive to the 360 but I'm not quite sure if it was just a mix up of words.

It is NOT an exclusive.
Stories can be found here, (http://www.examiner.com/x-8608-Baltimore-Video-Game-Lifestyle-Examiner~y2009m6d1-Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-not-an-Xbox-360-exclusive)here, (http://e3.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696050/Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-Not-Exclusive-To-360.html)and here. That's three separate sources that state it is not an exclusive.
Microsoft has deep pockets, but not deep enough to make Hideo Kojima turn from his original fan base.
and god bless Hideo Kojima for his ethics.
Not like bethesda and their Fallout Anti-PS3 add-ons, the Almighty dollar strikes again.
either way I shall never turn a blind eye to the PS classics that continue their quests exculsive or not for if there is a new MGS I shall be there, Twisted Metal I shall be there or Final Fantasy I shall be there, all of which should have their respective sequels out in due time:beerchug:

As Klark said, Microsoft does have deep pockets, but I'm sure there isn't enough money in the world to make Kojima-san turn a blind eye towards his initial fan base, Sony Playstation and PSP owners.
But, anyway, if you still aren't so sure about this I know that Konami's press conferences for E3 will stream live at 6pm eastern time. Will Kojima Productions make a guest appearance?
...I think so. :D
Shane
PS...
I know this picture was a joke back when MGS4: Guns of the Patriots came out, but as Klark said, Blu-Ray disc's do hold much more space than your average DVD. So, one disc for PS3 would translate to nearly 10 for a regular DVD.
This is what it might look like...:D

Alright guys, I've got new information about MGS:Rising! It IS a Stealth Espionage Action game that will feature RAIDEN. This is NOT a side-story, but the first installment of a new avenue to go down through the Metal Gear Solid story! This game is being produced by a Kojima-san approved "up & coming youngblood" of the company and has been confirmed (from Kojima-san's mouth) as being MULT-PLATFORM for PS3, 360, AND PC.
So, all in all, Raiden fans rejoice! (Which is probably just me...)
Shane
PS...
In other news, there is also confirmation of a MGS title called Metal Gear Solid Arcade. This will be a WORLD-WIDE online arcade service, but will have it's genesis in Japan.
Also, Kojima's "Mask Project" IS indeed the newest installment of...
...Castlevania!...
It is titled "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" and will have gameplay similar to that of the God Of War series. This will be multi-platform as well with releases with PS3 and 360.
Here is the link that'll take you to my thread on C:LoS
http://www.werewolf.com/vb/showthread.php?t=689
This is truly a press conferenced to remember for all fans of Konami and Hideo Kojima.
So far, all titles through Kojima Productions have only noted releases for "2010".
There is no live video feed at the moment because of venue issues, however, they ARE filming it and video will be released ASAP. Once that happens, I WILL put the video up on this thread for all Kojima/Kanomi fans to see.

Hello everyone,
So, do we have any Castlevania fans here? I know that I was back in the day!
Well, the years have passed and the graphics have gotten better but we've never seen a Castlevania that was MADE for a next-generation console (PS3/360).
Until now...
Kojima Products (Oh yes, you heard right) is helping produce this beauty.

You can watch the trailer there. It looks phenomenal and is definitely on my "Must Buy!" list.
Let's here you feedback!

Well if nothing else, probably the best looking werewolves in a video game thus far. As far as the gameplay goes, it doesn't look like that big of a step up from the previous 3D Castlevanias, or at least not in the same league as God of War and Devil May Cry and games like that. But who knows, maybe what this game will lack in action, it'll make up in exploration of those stunning levels which is sorta what made Castlevania awesome in the first place.
edit: Oh, also:
WTF OMG PATRICK STEWART HOW DID I DONT EVEN

Well, it's been confirmed that something that makes this Castlevania interesting is that it WILL indeed allow you to do tons of exploration. You wont be locked into one section the entire time.
Yes. Patrick Stewart! :D

Hey guys,
I hope that you guys like that update to the thread since the Metal Gear thread and the Castlevania thread have been merged together so that I could create one large thread based on the works of Kojima Products.
While I tuned into the Kojima Productions Report I was able to get information of confirmed information on the games that were show cased at 2009's E3...
- Metal Gear Arcade (Japan only at the moment at arcades)--> This is an arcade system that is actually based on Metal Gear Online. Those of you who own Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be very familiar with the system. Also, this is also going to played IN 3D.
- Metal Gear Solid: Rising (PS3, 360 and PC)--> I know that some of you and many others out there have been weary of saying that the cyborg ninja in the teaser trailer was Raiden due to the change of eye color. As of today, it was confirmed that while the change in eye color IS significant, that it IS Raiden. How did he get a change in eye color? We'll have to wait and find out! Also, don't worry about it sucking because of it being multi-platform because Kojima Pro has put us at ease by confirming that this game will milk your system for all it's worth!
*NOTE* It was released in this weeks issue of Famitsu that no more information on MGS: Rising will be released until E3 2010. *NOTE*
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PSP)--> This is a game that is based around Naked Snake or Big Boss as some of you might know him by. As for something that you'll learn while playing the game, you'll learn how it is tied into Outer Heaven.
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3 and 360)--> There isn't to much more information about this game that I haven't already said before, but once more information does come out I will be sure to update this thread.
In other news regarding Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Online; as some of you know, the anniversary of the release of MGS4:GotP is coming up tomorrow (June 12th) and this is significant because there are a few special things coming up for the anniversary...
- MGS4:GotP will officially be on the Greatest Hits List and is now at a cheaper price. This is effective June 16th.
- MGS1 will be put up on the PSN as a download. This will come about on June 18th.
- MGO will have a new patch coming up (1.33) will will have many of enhancements. You'll be able to download a new map featuring Shadow Moses. Also, you'll be able to play as Solid Snake, NOT Old Snake, but his younger version. This will come about on June 16th.

So, are you all ready for another rumor? I know I am...
As some of you might have known, it has been rumored for years now that there would be a Metal Gear Solid movie. David Hayter (Voice Actor for Solid Snake) has written a few scripts for it and Hideo Kojima said that if something like this did come to fruition that he would want to become a part of it. Wouldn't he have to? I mean, he created the series.
I'm not 100% on this being true, or anything more than a elaborate rumor backed by a photoshopped image of a movie poster, but if you'd like to see more information on this follow this (http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/06/mgs_rising_platforms.jpg) link.
In other news, those of you that own MGS4: GotP are in for a treat as far as Metal Gear Online is concerned. Today, being the one year anniversary of the release date of MGS4 has prompted Konami and the Kojima Productions team to finally give us the 1.33 update along with some goodies after your update has finished. So far, we've been given...
- 10,000 RWD points free
- Old Snake is now playable
- New Map (Shadow Moses)
Also, apparently every day this week something related to Metal Gear Solid will be announced in celebration of the anniversary. What will these announcements be? Well, we'll just have to wait and find out, wont we? :D

I just wanted to go ahead and make a bit of an update on some of the things that are going on in the land of Metal Gear Solid and Kojima Productions...
So, as far as the MGS movie goes, it's been confirmed that Bale HAS NOT been approached to play the part of Solid Snake. However, he claims to be a fan of the series. As far as that being true, I'm not certain, but I don't think that would be the case.
I know that this post is a rather small one for me, but it's been pretty slow in the news department due to E3 ending. However, as soon as more information about the upcoming games from KojiPro come out, you'll be the first to hear about it!

Ready for an update? Yes you are.
So, as some of us know, Gamescom 2009 is in the middle of its festivities and as you can probably imagine, Kojima Products made it's way to Germany this year for the show.
Why did they come? To show off more tid bits about Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker of course! While there probably wont be any news on MGS: Rising until next E3, there was plenty of information to share about MGS: PW.
There wasn't too much information on the story given or the characters, however, the main theme of this presentation was multi-player. While some say a picture is worth a thousand words, I'm going to say that footage is worth a few thousand more...
4S0g5JW7UUs
It looks amazing, doesn't it? I have to say that it sure does. I think this goes to show that graphics mean NOTHING. If a game isn't fun, it's not worth the purcahse/rent/whatever.
It looks like MGS: PW is getting a complete revamping as compared to MG: Portable Ops(+). As for who will be doing the voice acting for Naked Snake/Big Boss, that information hasn't been released yet, but when it is, I'll be sure to inform you.
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/event_2009/en/
There's the site.
While this game would have multiplayer modes, it's also going to have something that a MGS game has never had before...Co-op play through the main story. There are REAL military operations going on here in game play much like was shown in MGS4 during the Rat Patrol fight. Now, do you see those rings around the Snakes? Well, that is an extended threat detector as well as a visual boundary that shows how close you need to be to get into a two man (or four man) group or "Snake In" and "Snake Out" mode. You an even walk back to back to take on enemies, and you will also be able to share items between you and your partners.
Also, something else that you might have noticed is that the boxes are no longer used for JUST hiding, but you can use them for leverage to reach higher ground.
Did you notice that one Snake is giving the other CPR? That's showing off the new way to revive your partner, but you can't really do this out in the open, so you're going to need you other partners to allow for cover. Now, this game is going to be based around covert operations, so some of the running and gunning that you see in Metal Gear Online, that wont be happening much in MGS: PW...at least, not easily...
There will be more on this trailer when TGS 2009 takes place.
So...discuss!

I know that it's been quite a while since my last update here, and I apologize if there were actually people here following this thread. As some of you know, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is about to release next month and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who is gearing up for it.
There's been tons of additional information given away officially from the Kojima Productions Report on the official KojiPro website such as gameplay mechanics as well as collaborations that have surprisingly popped up from other franchises.

The time has finally come for information on Metal Gear Solid Rising to see the light of day!
I just finished watching a live blog feed from the Konami Press Conference this year and a multitude of information about the game has been released. First off, I think that seeing the newest trailer would be the best thing to get you guys and gals pumped about the newest installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
YvrbUWEKRnk
If you'd like to see the trailer in even better video quality, then I refer you to the official website where you are to find information of the MGS3 remake/port to the Nintendo 3DS and the newest installment of Castlevania, Lords of Shadow.
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/e3_2010/?ref=koji_portal_e
Now, some of you might have some concerns about this game being a "hack and slash" much like Ninja Gaiden, but fear not, for the creators have squashed this worry with the statement of..."of course MGS Rising will have stealth elements" and also that the motto of the game "Zan-Datsu" (in Japanese, Zan meaning 'to cut' and Datsu meaning 'to take') expresses that from cyborgs or mechs, you can use "Zan-Datsu" to gain energy, ammo, and even information. This is something that is going to require strategy to get a handle of, so don't think that you're going to blaze through this game in a matter of hours once you play it.
As you saw in the trailer, you're going to have the ability to cut in any direction you like and you'll have the ability to cut ANYTHING you'd like, from PMCs to watermelons! You can cut to kill, or cut to torture or to "get your point across" to the enemy. Don't fret about only being able to use the blade because Raiden will have a multitude of weapons as his disposal.
On to the story line. This game is going to show us how Raiden evolved from the soldier he was in MGS2 to the cyborg ninja he became in MGS4. Those of you who have knowledge about the MGS story know that Raiden was actually captured by the Patriots and was nearly killed, had it not been for Dr. Madnar who saved his life and fitted him in the cyborg exoskeleton.
Finally, I managed to grab some screens of the Konami press conference this year. So, enjoy!

http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp236/SMLuckett/phpmqMmu8IMG_0046-W500.jpg
So, please, have a seat and discuss or even speculate about this awesome trailer, information and even the noted time that the game will take place in. Now, if you can't take the information from me, then take it from the horses mouth!
