The What: I am rewriting Fairy Tales my own way
The Why:I am bored and in a "story telling" mood lately.
The Huh?: I've always had kind of a fascination or even kind of Fetish with Fairy Tales. Anything relating to myths, legends, fables (!), fairy tales and classic story telling in general just I love. So I feel like just writing some of my own adaptations down and having fun with it.

I am throwing the Adult tag up however I doubt I will ever be super explicit. If you are expecting anything raunchy... sorry, maybe later.

If anyone wants to join me in rewriting a fairy tale I am totally into to that. We can go over things in pm or you can critique what I am writing so far here. This is pretty much just for fun, I have no aspirations of publishing. If people like this stuff maybe... but its pretty likely these won't be ground breaking and or even make it to completion.

(*Disclaimer: Out of practice writing, so critique is welcome, adjustments also welcomed especially because I'm doing this out of boredom and it's free form. Insults... might be pondered over...)

i. October 31st

It is a Christmas themed halloween party being put on by theater students in a college town. There is a girl with a wreath around her neck who claims to be five sixths drunk wavering on the couch. Spray paint fumes emanating from her costume as a "Craft Store Gift" are only elevating the buzz from her drink.

Two more swigs of her jack and coke, she thought, and she would swear the guy in a polar bear suit who just sat down next to her was a real bear.

The couch groans at the bulk of the shape upon it. "Hey."

"Ho ho ho-la," she grins. "Nice costume, have you come to refill my Coke-EH-cola?"

"Heh heh." The polar bear takes a swig of a giant sized glass.

The girl gapes at the mechanics of the suit's mouth. A realistic tongue darts about the bear lips to suppress any drips of liquid that may escape.

Putting her drink down on the coffee table she exclaims, "Neat trick. You design that thing yourself?!"

"In a way..." He says.

A flush of blood warms her cheeks at the deepness of the "bear's" voice. "You must be into some serious FX design. I'm Sye by the way."

"You can call me Val and it is good to meet you Sye."

The music picks up and more people have arrived to the party from trick or treating with replenishment of spirits. Everything becomes a blur.

***

Sye wakes. She cannot remember much from the night before. As her arm stretches she feels the faint warmth of the once occupied space on her bed and vague rush of kisses and adult situations flash through her mind.

A smile crosses her face as she muses over finally having some physical contact after the four month dry spell. She even felt a slight victory especially for it being a one night stand.

(Ok stopping here for the night. Officially tired because I keep trying to write snatch and mouth in inappropriate places.)

I'm debating if I should complete this or scrap it because I'm having issues developing a proper conflict as well as conveying aspects of the environment.

What does anyone think?

Anyone figure out what I'm rewriting?
