The setting: Steam punk post apocalyptic.
Playable Races and Weakness: Human (cannot cast magic), *Fae(No iron, and dependent on type added disadvantages) Shifters ( Silver is toxic), **Trolls (fire, and ugly) ***Half breeds (distrusted by both sides, however has the ability to use magic (less powerful) and not as strong to the racial weaknesses. )
*Fae: Elf, Mentor, and many critters fall under this umbrella term. Just ask if you aren’t sure.
**trolls: Orc, ogres , and others of this type are listed as the Troll type (how ever do not need to be more then 6ft tall if you don’t want them to be)
*** only Half human and half other race.
The World- looks like modern day saved for not. The Technology of today is powered in this world by Steam, during the attempt by the humans to ‘save’ their world, from creatures stealing the wombs of their children destroyed all technology and had to rebuild themselves. Most of what we (outside of game) understand doesn’t exist- unless you can build it using Steam Punk Technology it won’t be in this world.
Here are a few examples: some tech, and fashion from the genre. Feel free to do more research- yourself (It’ s hard to find links that isn’t trying to sell you cool steam punk stuff)

Even though it has been a long time since the destruction of the world there is still a lot of hate and distrust amongst humans and their strange new children, which are becoming more and more common. These disfigurements, are not legally allowed to be discriminated against. Magic is banned- Since Humans are the most dominate civilian they have the most political sway.
Those of you who choose to Play a race outside of human- You’re character knows that your spirit is what has changed the child’s body, twisted it into something different, and when the humans attempted to destroy what they saw as a disease they let loose.
What the characters don’t know, and the players know: During the time when human children became less than human there was a great war in the Nietherland, The Tree of life was fading and you where sent here to save your world and this world from the Yellow King- Swallower of Worlds. It turns out that This world, the human and the Nietherlands share the same life force and though the humans lack magic they have something that those from the Nietherlands have the ability to adapt, and recreate and invent itself. Perhaps they hold some key to containing the destroyer of worlds.

Name: Alyson Stone (goes by Alys)
Age: 18
Race: Half- Shadow fae (in addition to iron being toxic, and painful to touch, Bright lights are as well- direct sun light sickens her)
Occupation: Circes freak

Her lips are naturally black in color and her teeth have a double k-9 and look sharp. And from her forehead are two horns sprouting coming out and to the side of her head then winding about like a ram.
She stands at 6 feet tall, and is very thin and long, and is beautiful the same way that death and danger are beautiful. She often wares when not working she is found in simple Jeans and a Tank top with a Hoodie pulled over her head to try and disguise herself as best she can.
History: Was born into a rich family by what her non biological father calls her mother’s wonderful mistake. Wonderful because despite her disfigurements he loved his daughter, and she had shined light on what a ‘lady’s night’ was. However as much as Alyson’s father loved his daughter he knew no one else would- She looked more like creatures for fairy tales then he would ever life to admit, and so kept her hidden.
However this gave her time to learn to do things- like to sneak out and learn how avoid being caught- and spent most of her time with paid (mostly to keep their mouth shut) instructors. Singing, and playing the violin.
When she was 10, Alyson left her home seeking something more than what she saw as a well decorated prison. What she found made her the perfect target for an exploit at a traveling freak show. She learned How to contort and bend herself in to many ways, to escape some of the most unusual predicaments, and to acrobatics.
And has been traveling since, to her they are her new family.

1.the act of opening up her body like a portal is extremely painful and while doing so can cause her to pass out (I will flip a coin heads she passes out, tails she does’t)
2. If light is shined on her she is trapped in that location till the light is gone.

It was night, Alys never went any where in any city when it was other than night- thankfully the new Ring leader respected that Her income came from those that where born with such disfigurements as Alys- Business was hard when every day people could look like monsters only found in faerie tales. Thankfully though they where still pretty rare and the normal humans loved to gack as long as they could pay for it.
She wondered if it made them less guilty, she didn't care either way- those bars where not for them, they where too keep the normal people out, and those who are different safe, she wished she knew that when she was 10- god she missed her Daddy. but now he probably was happy, he didn't have to keep her a secrete any more. Life would just be easier for him, and way less expensive not that money was ever an issue.
Alys made sure her hood was up as she walked down the street, bits of her thin dread locks peeking through, and helping disguise her horns- people at first glance would thing it was the hair that made her hood lumpy and if that was all she got, then there was no one to bother her- if she wasn't being paid to be looked at, she didn't want to be looked at.
Over her eyes she wore light black shades to cover her usual blinking patter and multiple oddly shaped pupil- today was the day she was going to buy a new violin hers recently gotten broken and it took two months of saving (with out too much hardship) to get a new one.
She began to sing to herself a opera song titled O'Fortuna- her father loved Opera and Alys had been taught it, she loved to sing for him. he called her his beautiful Canary- perhaps he knew too that she felt trapped.
The store was open, she walked in and looked around not removing her glasses.

Name: Fisher
Age: 20
Race: Half Water Troll (OOC: I pmed Cahalith, and this race is okay-ed. :D)
Occupation: Fisherman
Gender: Male
Appearance: Besides the picture linked here, he stands at 6' 6", he has sharp teeth, claws, webbed fingers and toes, a fin on his back, and fins on the back of his legs. The soles of his feet are tough, and he never wears a shirt. (http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i88/Sephrenia0110/FisherHalfTroll.jpg)
His voice is deep and scraggy, except for underwater, it becomes smooth.
History: It was a very awkward union between man and troll-ess. He was a sailor. He apparently had been away from home too long. She was a trolless, and was beginning to look appealing to the sailor man. It could happen to anyone, alright?
As a result, Fisher was born halfsie. His mother didn't really like babies, so she left her son on the docks (rather than eating the little thing, because it just didn't look like it tasted any good), where he made a reunion with his dad, who was married with 3 children. His dad immediately knew what it would mean to have his half-troll son around... so he left his son to sit on a fisher's slab.
It was just by chance that the man charged with cutting heads off of the usual fish actually watched what he was doing. While the baby was ugly, absolutely covered in scales, he didn't want to kill it, so he took him home, where he raised the little boy on his own.
As Fisher grew, he became less... ugly. His skin and fins still marked him out as an outcast, but despite this, he made friends with the village children, even his half-brothers (even if his birth father hated Fisher for it). He even grew to be liked by some of the girls there as his prowess as a fisherman grew.
When he was 19, his foster father was lost at sea in a storm, and Fisher was to blame for it. The townspeople, lead by his father, came to Fisher's house and tried to kill him. He got out half the "man" he used to be, thus the reason he has a scar going into his pants, but other than that he was unharmed.
After that, he decided fishing wasn't the best for him, so he went inland, escaping upriver, with only a pair of pants and a harpoon. By day and night, he lived in the river, eating fish and weeds.
Skills (3): He can use a harpoon as a weapon (throwing it as well as using it as a staff), he can fish (using nets, line, harpoon, or fishing by hand), and he can cook.
Power/List of Spells:
He can live underwater (breathing, seeing, swimming, etc.) in both fresh and salt water.
(obvious) He can live on land.
He's healed and/or revived when submerged in water.
He can find water.
Weakness:
Big weakness to fire, acid, and electricity, though it's subdued because he's not full troll.
He can't stay away from water too long (he has to submerge himself in water at least once a month).
If he dies, no amount of water can save him.
Due to the gills on his neck and chest, he hates wearing shirts, otherwise it feels suffocating.

Fisher was at the counter of the store, slabs of fish on the counter, fresh from his catch. "Listen, all I need is some matches, a sack, and a bottle. You barter, right? Just take the fish, they're fresh."
"And you listen to me, troll. You're smelly, and you're mucking up the floor, and you're half naked. Get out and get dressed, and maybe then I'll trade with you!" the person behind the counter hollered.
Fisher shook his head, his wet hair dripping. He heard the door open behind him, but didn't turn to look. "I'm sorry, but I can't put a shirt on, it makes it hard for me to breathe. See this?" He pointed to his chest. "This is GILLS. You fleshy humans don't have 'em, but I do. If I cover them, I won't be able to breathe very well."

02-17-2011, 12:38 PM
Alys walked in, the store was full of interesting things- not just the Violin. She laughed, and lowered her head covering her mouth with her hand- she didn't want to give away her lack of humanity. Unlike the troll she could hide it though she did find the situation amusing.
There was something dangerous about her- dark and foreboding, but lovely at the same time. Alys knew who would trade with him, The Circus who came into town, "I hear there is a Circus in town?" She asked the shop keep keeping her profile low "Also they make fare trades." She shrugged her shoulders "Humans and not alike." that was when she saw it the Violin.
grabbing it she walked to the counter and waited for the toll to be done- grabbing also a large box of matches, just in case the Troll couldn't get what he wanted she would help him- then it become apparent her lips where charcoal black. was it lipstick?
kathryn
02-17-2011, 12:42 PM
Because he doubted the conversation he was having with the keep would end soon, he removed the fish from the counter and made way for the thin woman. He was surprised that she was tall.
"You say a Circus?" Fisher asked. "I've never been to one before. What's it like?"
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 12:48 PM
She paid for her goods shoving the matches discreetly in her sweatshirt hood, and made toward the door. "My home" She told him- She would use the box of matches to strike a deal later- the fish would feed a lot of them- and bottles and sacks couldn't be too hard to find.
She looked around still keeping her self hidden with a hood pulled up. "You can make a trade there, I am sure they would be more than willing to help out for some fish." She was used to looking down not up. And found it odd to see another tall person. "my name is Alys." however she didn't extend a hand she was holding her violin like it was a baby.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 12:53 PM
Fisher stuck his blue tongue out at the rude clerk and followed Alys out the door before turning to her. "They call me Fisher. Well, if I can't trade in town, might as well follow you to your home, Alys. Lead on."
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 01:06 PM
She watched him stick his tongue out "You know fisher you really shouldn't do that." She looked around at the streets "There are more of them then their are of you. Now you legally have rights- but still doesn't mean hate crimes don't still happen." She turned left.
Alys walked fast for seeming so thin, and lacking of substance.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 01:11 PM
Fisher went silent because of what she said. He still...
"I know. I was driven from my home of 19 years a year ago, and I still have the scars. Doesn't mean that I can't stand up for myself."
He followed her, and asked "What about you? I doubt you're bundling up for the cold weather."
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 01:19 PM
She looked at him she didn't mean to bring up bad memories- the sound of humming could be herd in the air as a dark light floated, the brights of places Alys seemed to step out of. She didn't answer his question until the entered the gate.
Her hood was removed and along with her tinted glasses she looked at him and her eyes blinked "because I look like this." She told him pausing to give him a good look. She heard the sound of the Gemini twins playing a girl and boy who had been born they where identical in every way save one was dark and one was light, but looked oddly inhuman. They ran at her and asked "did you get-' stopping seeing the man with the fish and then the interment "YOU BROUGHT IT! and food!" their grins twisted into an unearthly large and toothy grin. "Go get the Leader we have a trader in our company." She told them they nodded and ran off.
She looked at him "We are still setting up, so it isn't much to look at." It actuality it was very much something of dark intrigue.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 01:26 PM
Fisher looked at Alys. She looked much better than some of the girls back home, even with the horns. Luckily, that's when the children came running.
He blinked at the odd little children and watched them running off. Then he allowed himself to look around. It was still impressive to him.
"Huh. I'd love to see what this looks like when it's all set up," he said, a little green blush creeping on his face. He purposefully didn't look back at Alys.
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 01:35 PM
Suddenly a woman about 5 foot with fiery red hair came up over a top hat and traditional ring leader clothing. Her skin was dark mocha brown and she looked at Alys and a smirk tugged at her lips "Alys you always seem to find the most interesting things when you leave." Alys shrugged, she looked at her "ya, well he wants to trade." She threw the box of matches at her. she caught them slightly confused as to why they where being thrown but Alys was known for getting random things of use. like she said things of interesting- she then looked to the Troll and smiled "Hello, have you come to trade or just seek asylum."
She could use another act. Alys didn't care much of the new ring leader she thought she was gods gift to- well life, it was probably because she was an elf, pompous lot they where. And Dark Fae like Alys where looked down upon because by nature they where sneaky or well as the ring leader put it gathers of interesting things.
Alys Pulled out her Violin and began to play for the children- she was very good, it was after all something she had grown up doing.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 01:40 PM
Fisher glanced at Alys and then at the ringleader. "I need a sack, a bottle, and a box of matches. I'll give you these fish for them. They're freshly caught. If you need someone to clean and cook them, I can do it for a length of rope."
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 01:46 PM
The ring leader made them look like they where not desperate by not agreeing to it right away- she thought about it then nodded slowly "I guess we can do that." She smiled and said "Maybe we can keep the deals going while we are in town? maybe even trade currency for food? while here?"
The issue was that some one in the Circus had to eat, and eat a lot or else they would die. So food was scarce. And buying food was for road trips only. And any one with a better idea didn't dare say it the Ring leader when angry turned from mildly unpleasant to just down right scary.
Alys was thinking of staying in the next town the got to, but she had no way of supporting herself, she as a acrobat and a contrariness who could sing and play interments, what kind of life skills is that?
The Elf left to get him his stuff. And the kids left to fallow- they where after all her children. Strange how they didn't call her mommy. She looked at Fisher "it will take some time, She has check on the rope." She gave him a smile, was it a smile.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 01:54 PM
Fisher smiled at the kids. Then he went over to Alys. "So, that's your boss? Nice lady."
"You're good at that instrument thing. What's it called?"
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 02:02 PM
She looked at him "its an antique called a violin." She told "Its rare, well the way its made now at least." Shrugging she removed her hooded sweat shirt and under it was a corset- with lots of buckles to keep it on she looked at him, she needed to get dressed in her preferred clothing.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 02:14 PM
Fisher's face was a shade darker blue when she took off her hoodie. He looked away again. "Well, you're pretty good. Is that what you do here at the circus? Play instruments?"
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 02:21 PM
She looked at him and tilted her head "No-" She arched an eyebrow was he okay? "I do contortion, and am acrobatics." She was not used to being asked questions- most people knew about her, the people here at least did, and then the humans didn't ask they saw what she did or where too intimidated to.
She looked at him tilting her head slightly "Come with me I will show you around." She didn't know what else to do- she wasn't good at this, small talk.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 02:31 PM
Fisher nodded and followed her, his fish still in his hands.
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 02:40 PM
She then stopped remembering that there was fish in his hands and suddenly laughed "lets take those first some where where they won't go bad?" She headed towards where they kept things cool.
As they walked she gestured to the scense around them he would notice that none of the people here where human, all of them Fae, Trolls and Shifters. They where all moving around around some playing, some using magic, others setting up the circus. but they where all working together.
Alys, looked over at him as they got to a train, she opened one of the doors and cold ice fog cloud escaped "the ice box." She told him "You can put it there." She pointed.
As the Ring leader showed up with a bag a glass bottle and some, rope "Good timing." She told him handing it to him for the trade.
The ring leader never saw Alys be so friendly before- she normally kept to herself, and with something so ugly. a Troll.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 02:44 PM
(xD HAH. Something so ugly, I like that.)
"Get me a knife. Any kind'll do. These should be cleaned first." He took the stuff, putting the bottle and the rope in the bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He kept the fish in his hand, as he meant to gut them.
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 03:01 PM
The ring leader looked at Alys and she made a face she hated being the keeper of the knifes. She suddenly reached in side herself and pulled out a knifes tears welled up in her eyes as pain so intense her skin prickled with goose bumps and she shivered, no sound came out as her lips parted showing her two very sharp looking teeth.
the ring leader spoke as Alys pulled the knife "We keep the knifes hidden as to prevent inner conflict" it happens sometimes, even the fae have hatred for other fae.
Her body was wet with sweat she was breathing very heavy- and bent over she handed the knife to him "here" she said through deep breaths.
OOC: Tails.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 03:05 PM
Fisher grimaced at the sight, but he took the knife. "Are you okay? That... didn't look good at all..." he asked, holding a fish in his hand and making a slice down it's center. Bright blood spilled out along with some intestines.
With the efficiency of someone who did this regularly, he cleaned out the fish's guts and one by one put them in the icebox.
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 03:12 PM
She didn't respond right away she was still doubled over she finally just sat down.
The ring leader didn't even speak she just walked away, not even a word.
Alys looked up at Fisher and watched as blood spilled and guts hit the ground she didn't speak either for a while till the work was done it took her some time to recover from that, she had caught her breath and had finally said "One gets used to it." She lied, she didn't want any one to worry to much about her.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 03:17 PM
Once fisher was done, he wiped his hands on his already dirty pants. He picked out from the fish guts their livers and he ate them for their nutrients.
"You looked in pain, and no one gets used to that," he said, leaving it at that. She obviously could take care of herself, no matter how thin or how beautiful she looked.
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 03:24 PM
She forced herself to stand she was shaking a little she still hurt. Looking at him "what are you looking at?" she as always cranky after having pulling something out of herself- and later she would have to put it back in she looked at him and looked around. Maybe she should tell him to hide it.
She hated being for all intensive purposes a bottomless bag. She took in a deep breath and calmed herself. She really didn't like the ring leader even if she was better then the last one.

He blinked and looked away. "Nothing, who said I was looking at anything?" he said, hiding his embarrassment. He stood up. "Are you good now?"
She looked at him and narrowed her eyes "Ya- who said i wasn't!" she shook her head and waved a hand "what ever- lets just move on." she didn't want to talk about it.
She continued to show him around, taking him around to all the sites, when a 4 foot Green imp came up to her and slapped her on the lower back and grinned his sharp teeth showing "Hey Alys you want me to put that thing in your room for ya?" She looked at him and smiled lightly "yes thanks Jeff." She told him handing the instrument that was large in comparison. He nodded then looked over at the Guy with her and laughed "you get a boy friend finely?" He always teased her, in all the years he had been her Alys was the only one he had ever seen to not even show interest in any of the boys- or girls he mused the thought for a moment, she was pretty and he liked the idea of the later and laughed walking off. "Jeff, you keep our of my stuff you hear me!" she yelled after him. which made him laugh him again.
shaking her head "trouble maker." She looked at Fisher "Sorry Jeff likes to cause trouble..."

His face was a nice blushing blue at Jeff's comment. "Um.. Yeah. Okay. I mean, that's alright." He smiled, showing his shark teeth.
"This is amazing though. I never saw another non-human outside of my village. Kinda surprises me that my old man bed a water troll with how much racism there was."

The imp and smiled "You never know what kind of kinks people have till they get the chance to explore."
Alys blushed slightly- the sex talk always made her uncomfortable. Specially when Jeff talked about it- he was eccentric with his desires, pretty much anything imaginable and he probably watched porn for it.
She looked at him and said "you Might want to keep being half on the down low, Most of us here are pure and don' take to kindly to the human part."
Jeff laughed "aw- Alys you two just get more and more alike with each passing day." She looked at him and suddenly kicked him. He looked at him trying to look cute she said "I have no heart don't waist your 'charm'"
He hopped off to put away the instrument. "Sometimes I think he likes the abuse." She muttered then turned looking at Fisher "How did your dad get a hold of a water troll?" She tilted her head confused didn't they stay in the water like most of the time.
kathryn
02-17-2011, 04:16 PM
Fisher glanced at Alys and there was a little joy to see her blush. "I never really talked to my father about it. In fact, I never talked to him about anything. I was raised by another man in the village. I didn't even know who my birth father was until a few years ago."
He now stared at her. "What did Jeff mean that we have more in common?"
Cahalith
02-17-2011, 04:25 PM
Alys glared at where Jeff had been he was meddling again damned imp! she looked up at him and said "My father called me my mothers Wonderful mistake." She shrugged "She cheated on him, and well." She gestured to her self "I think I am pretty good evidence that the father wasn't him." She shrugged "he was a good man though."
Shed Shifted slightly and looked at him "Sorry I don't talk much to. um any one." She told him She shrugged her bony shoulders and turned to her room she was getting nervous letting Jeff have access to it for so long.
By the time she got there though it seemed had dropped off the interment and was gone. She looked back at him, as she opened the door to her to her room it was covered in what she needed for her work. Make-up for the stage she looked at him "In theory there should be a show tonight- i am hoping this is the last town i preform in." She said as she let her door close.
she never liked doors to stay open for too long. Her room was dimly light, and she seemed a little less in pain with it that way.
OOC: I got to go head out and do errand and stuff :) i had lots of fun and look forward to another day- and P.s LOVE The bit about how even trolls look good eventually =p

He followed her inside. It was a lot nicer than some of the places he stayed at, so he tried not to touch anything. The low lights didn't bother him, as he was used to it when swimming. He didn't really say anything at first but then commented, "Your room is very nice."

Alys turned and looked over her shoulder at him she was facing her closet trying to figure out what the show was and remember what she was suppose to ware again- "hm? Oh yes." She remembered her home the house was really big and the air always smelt of roses. She remembered how lonely she was playing often times by herself while her father was on business, with only tutors had stopped in and maids to make sure she was fed.
Alys still was a bit lonely- but it was a different type of lonely, the type that people got when they where forgetting something, of great importance. The pure bloods talked of a land far away from here- in their dreams, not that they visited but remembered. Alys wanted to go there, but knew it wasn't going to happen. Fairy tales despite the circumstances where just stories with hints of truth told to their children to make them behave.
"Fisher, would you spin around for a moment? I need to put my costume on?" she asked grabbing the outfit she needed it was skin tight- It was to show she had no way of hiding things as she got herself out of knots, and bindings, and did her acrobatic show. She needed to paint her face like a skull as well. They all did it- it gave them privacy so they could walk around and not fear too much repercussion of being known creatures of long ago.

Alys got undressed, put on the leotard, put on the corset again- it was her favorite, she liked he belts and zippers on it when no one was looking she would play with the zippers. And looked for something to put on over the leotard. "You can turn around." She just then found a par of shorts she smiled and slid them on, and looked for some boots- "I wonder if Mary took them?" marry was the same shoe size. She moved a box with her bare feet and found a pare of knee highs they matched her corset, and started to put them on "We have a forest troll here- he is probably the nicest of the lot." Most people didn't see trolls as night "well except around children." She remembered the incident where he told a customer she should have aborted the fetus while she had a chance- and almost ate some one's child for being insolent.
the look of terror on the mothers face made Alys laugh. She shook her head "Well unless you are under the age of 18." She looked up at him and blinked a few times, he wasn't as bad looking most trolls, was it the human? or was he just lucky? He was nice though, and brave. She looked away to distract herself from getting attached that would not be a good idea. Her cheeks felt warm. Was she getting sick twice she felt herself get suddenly warm- As she blushed.

He turned around when he thought it was safe and watched her finish getting dressed. His face was a little blue still. He stopped thinking altogether when he saw another blush on her face. <3
He shifted his weight. "So, when is the show?"

She looked at him "When the sun goes down it starts- a few can't handle bright light." She didn't want to do make-up, she was tired of the running the hiding- they where just as much of of a person as any one else.

"Alright. When it's done do you... um.. Would you mind going with me for a walk?"
It was his first time asking a girl to do anything with him.

Alys looked away from the make-up and over at him confused "um- a walk? um okay?" She didn't know why he wanted to go for a walk but she was more than willing to.
She pushed the make-up away "screw the face paint." She dipped her make-up brush in the black paste and began to do her own design- she was tired of the same act every night.

(OOC: That discussion would suit you both better if taken into private messages.)
Fisher turned around to keep his overly smiling face to himself. He needed to get to the river to grab his harpoon anyway, but now he would be walking to it with a very beautiful woman!
Despite his thoughts in the clouds, he did notice her comment. "Do you usually have to do your face paint a certain way?"

OOC: Agreed- and waiting :)
Alys who had started to make her own design for make up turned and looked at him "yes I normally look like a skeleton." She told him

She finished and stood she looked around her room and wondered what time it was she could hear the bustling of people "I think the show will be starting soon- if not already, thankfully I am not the first act." She told him and walked towards him, starting to shoe him out of her room so they could find out what was going on

IT was time- she looked at him and tilted her head "you need to get out of my room" Alys wasn't the most polite person when she didn't want to hide something "tell Jeff you get box 14 J, and he will give you a seat." She told him.
Alys tilted her head looking at him confused not sure what he was looking at, as she walked the mirror behind her rippled and it sounded like there was a voice calling 'fisher' whispering sweetly calling his name towards it...

(OOC: Sorry for not posting. ;p I kept putting it off)
He blinked as he watched her leave. The spell broken, he left the room and found his way to the little Jeff person. Soon, the fish boy was seated, turned towards a stage. It was darker than he imagined it would be, so other people around him, the normal humans, they didn't mind that there was a large green man seated amongst them.

It was then that the sound of a strange mechanical instrument began to play, it was dark enchanting- but in a twisted way. The strange lights buzzed in their glass containers, as the Ring Leader stepped out to introduced the show.
There was something strange about this Circe, it was as if the people here where enchanted by the dark mystery, and in a way lost as they ood and awed as they pointed at the freak show.
Each Creature had their own show- when the suddenly went out- there was unearthly screams as they came back on and in the center of the ring stood Alys her body was twisted and contorted in a strange way- as she folded herself up more- her body was bound with bright Red, it stood out against her- The only color in the room it seemed.
She was untangling herself from the ropes as one was lowered, She began to climb it- graceful but it was not her act- She twisted herself up so they could all see as she began to reach inside herself and pulled out a lovely bird- it was alive- as it flew she fell crashing to the net and the lights went out. The visual imagery was lovely. But She was out cold. And would be till she was woken up by the scent of the ring leaders nasty smelling salts and the other freaks around her- but of course this would only happen after they cleared out the tent--
Alys would be left in her net till then the world riving of pain.
OOC: that is fine, and i got heads :(

The show amazed Fisher. It was beautiful and enchanting and strange and it made him feel less like a freak of nature. And when he finally saw Alys, his eyes couldn't keep off of her. She was beautiful. His breath seemed to escape his chest often during her performance. And the bird was beautiful as it flew from her hands, but he knew something was wrong when she suddenly went limp.
He immediately tried to rush to her side, but of course, the other crew was in the way. They eventually got Fisher out of the way and behind the scenes, and there he sat waiting, sitting on an empty crate, his head in his hands, worrying but not knowing why he was worrying.

there was a lot of swearing coming from the one called Jeff, the woman that was called the Ring Leader was being yelled at by a very short and angry man- Jeff was tired of the risk they put Alys through she was the only one that had to go through that! Of all the others she suffered the most! it wasn't right, and he hated it! he ended up storming out of the office when something was breathed too quite to hear but it sounded threatening.
He stormed out not seeing Fisher till but it was hard to see something that ugly- well not as ugly as the Forest troll he turned and looked at Fisher "Go get her, Alys and make sure she doesn't come back." He sounded hushed "try and pull off like 'nothin' is going on."
He moved out and then the Ring leader excited "hello-" She gave him a smile "did you enjoy the show?"
kathryn
02-23-2011, 01:40 AM
"Yeah, I did. Where's Alys now? Is she alright?" he asked. He had mixed opinions about this ring leader. She seemed like a good person, but cold and heartless.

02-23-2011, 01:44 AM
The Ring leader tilted her head "oh her- She should be fine" She waved a hand "She is probably resting- She didn't fall right, but The twins took her too her room and made sure she was fine." The Ring Leader was a good liar, it was after all what she did- Weave tales of intrigue and activate crowds.
"now tell me- Fisher? Where did you come from?" She gave him a charming smile sweetened with Splenda.

02-23-2011, 01:46 AM

She looked at him and said offhandedly "Oh its not often we see a Troll of your-" She paused choosing her words carefully "physic?" She wasn't sure that was the right word she shrugged her shoulders.
She headed towards Alys' room, But did not open the door, She waited for Fisher to do it as she spoke "I am sure Alys will be glad to see you- she seems to have taken a shinning to you."

Fisher gave the woman an odd glance. Then he opened the door, not certain what to expect, and walked in.
Cahalith
02-23-2011, 02:17 AM
The woman walked in- and looked down on the still sleeping Alys her body was wet with sweat and her make up smeared from it- She was shaking slightly still in pain. She made no sound, as she lay still breathing shallowly.
The ring leader's eyes where glancing around, looking for something.
kathryn
02-23-2011, 02:19 AM
Seeing Alys in that condition, he immediately went to her. "You told me that she was alright! What on earth did you people do to her?" he said, looking at Alys and carefully stroking back her hair.
Then he looked at the ring leader. She didn't seem to be looking at them, but her eyes were everywhere. "Looking for something?"
Cahalith
02-23-2011, 02:37 AM
When he hand moved She had already done what needed to be done- the stone that was on top of the mirror in Alys's room had been pocketed.
Alys's hairs where knotted into fine dreads, with soft bird feathers and beds woven into it. Despite the hair being knots it was soft, like the hair fibers natural hair consistency was that of being so interlaced it had knotted together. her faces Scrunched up when her eyes flickered open as she was starting to come two- her outer lid opened exposing a dark black layer that goes over her eye- that then started to open as the ring leader spoke.
"We all sacrifice something to be here." her words where truth- she herself had sacrificed much. She turned and said over her shoulder "Alys is Young, She is vital and should be fine." She didn't sound like she cared, but it did sound like the it was the truth.
She looked around the room and tried to sit up "damn it." she was embarrassed she had passed out.

02-23-2011, 11:24 PM
Fisher turned back to Alys. He remembered what Jeff said, and he decided not to make a big deal out of it. He didn't want to upset or embarrass her.
"Alys. You're okay," he said, with more relief in his voice than he intended.
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 01:13 AM
Alys took in a deep breath to steady her self "So fisher as soon as I can get up where do you want to go?" she asked trying to seem like none of this was a big deal not noticing that the Ring leader even was in her room. She would have been very angry if she had.
kathryn
02-24-2011, 01:16 AM
"Away from here," he whispered just to her, looking blatantly at the ring leader now and hinting at something. "The river. I need to get my harpoon." This was said louder, to cover up what he said before.
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 01:27 AM
Alys looked at him confused- what was going on? Jeff had said that the time would come that Alys would have to leave- that things where going to start to get weird but never said when. Jeff was known for being a little off his rocker- but Alys knew he was right, something in her heart told her that.
The ring leader spoke as she exited "Just have her back by sun up- I would hate for something bad to happen." There was something threatening in that sweet tone.
kathryn
02-24-2011, 01:31 AM
Fisher's eyes narrowed after the woman, making his ugly yet sweet and simple appearance seem suddenly hard. He didn't speak again until he was certain that the ring leader was gone.
"Pack your bags. I'm taking you out of here."
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 01:39 AM
Alys sat up slowly- she did not feel good, and it was hard too move- removing none living things was one thing- but things that where alive, that was another story. She pushed her feet off her bed and pushed herself up and headed to her mirror where Jeff hid the stone- She went to reach for it and looked confused "Where..." She figured that Jeff must of took it. She turned and started to back her bags, slowly.
She still was in her circus costume but it was a good look for her- However when day break came she would have to cover up- the sun made her feel very sick and direct like made it hard for her to do much of any thing but lay still.
kathryn
02-24-2011, 01:58 AM
Fisher stood up and out of her way. The bag of things was still with him, and other than that he had nothing else. He momentarily thought about the fish, but now that he knew what sort of person the ring leader was, he had no intention to complete his deal.
"Will you be okay if we travel together? I... I know that we just met, but... I can't let you stay here. That ring leader is cruel, and I have no intention on being snared up in her net." As he spoke he kept glancing to Alys, waiting patiently for her.
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 02:10 AM
Alys looked back at Fisher She was still moving slowly "I have been with this Circus since I was a little girl- She was not always so cruel." She didn't take much just enough and her violin, she loved that thing and there was no way that was getting left behind.
"fair of face and foul of heart- Beauty is the beast." She touched the mirror- of all the people here the Ring leader was the only that was not freakish. Alys turned and said "they leave town, north- go south, we don't back track not even for those who leave us."
kathryn
02-24-2011, 02:12 AM
He nodded. He felt a little ashamed for calling the ring leader cruel when he was told that she wasn't always like that.
He took a breath and calmed down. "Do you want to leave here?"
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 02:20 AM
Alys has always wanted to leave here- she had just felt like a caged bird, but like a bird her wings where kept clipped and she had not a clue as to what it was really like to live out there. "It has been a long time since the Ring leader has been kind, even her own children don't care of her."
She picked up the back pack with part of the interment sticking out and started to head to the door when she heard a strange sound coming from behind her it was calling her name she turned and saw out of the corner of the corner of her eye the mirror starting to crack she looked way then back and it looked fine she looked at Fisher, but said nothing- maybe she was going insane?
kathryn
02-24-2011, 02:27 AM
Fisher followed her out. When they were out of her room, he took the opportunity to grab her hand, his face nice and blue. "Do you, um, do you want to say good bye before we leave?"
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 02:34 AM
Alys looked down at her hand and his- she understood why people held hands it was suppose to be comforting- why was he trying to comfort her? her father did this when he said hew as going to leave, at first it was only short trips 1 day to 2, then it became weeks, months- then he was gone and she ran way and never came home.
She was not used to people touching her, her eye blinked in that odd method first the under layer then the over layer- She was humanoid but very alien in some ways. "good-bye is a waist of breath." She moved her hand out of his.
Alys as not sure why but she felt odd around Fisher, he was ugly, well not as ugly as most trolls he looked kinda like a fish and a man mated but made a reject merman. She kept moving- She wondered if her father even realized she was gone.
She kept moving "So you use a harpoon to catch fish?" she asked, after a bit of not saying much.
OOC: I think I should sleep..

(OOC: I think I do too. This is my last post of the night.)
Fisher felt a little dejected when she pulled her hand out of his. Well, maybe he was moving too fast. He shrugged and followed her, walking in silence with her.
At least until she spoke. "Yeah. Well, I can use a line or a net. But my 'pa, he thought that fishing should always be done with a harpoon. Especially the big ones, that way you don't suffocate them when they come out. It's cleaner... in a way," he said, thinking about gutting those fishes. With all that had been going on, his hands probably still stank with fish guts. Was that the reason she didn't want to hold his hand? He completely forgot about that. His hands wrapped around his back, out of sight.
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 08:35 AM
Alys looked at him "Cleaner." She thought that was an interesting concept, When the old ring leader disposed of people he said it was cleaner to not not leave marks wouldn't it be the same way with food. She found fisher interesting. "I have never fished before, so I wouldn't know."
kathryn
02-24-2011, 04:51 PM
Fisher blushed. "M-maybe I could teach you how."
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 04:54 PM

02-24-2011, 05:01 PM
In silent they made their way to the river again. Fisher set down his bag. "Wait a moment."
Then he dove in.
Fisher stayed down there for what seemed like 20 minutes, trying to find his harpoon. It had been dislodged from the bottom of the river where he placed it, and it took time to track it down.
When he did retrieve it, he swam back to where Alys was, breaking the surface and walking out, dripping wet. "Well, here it is," he said, a huge shark grin on his face. "It was my pa's, and when I was fifteen he gave it to me."
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 05:06 PM
Alys watched him jump in, and then waited. She waited, then waited, then she suddenly started to get very worried- where was he? had he drowned? No he couldn't have he was a water troll.. half.. her eyes got wide as she began to panic she didn't know how to swim looked around and ran to the water getting to the edge of the water She looked deep into it and yelled "Fisher!" she was scared!
then he came up, glaring at him she said "Don't scare me like that! you could have drowned!" she snapped!" she looked like she was scared, or angry it wasn't clear.
kathryn
02-24-2011, 10:36 PM
Fisher blinked and felt very small. "I'm... I'm sorry." He awkwardly rubbed his elbow as he stared at the water around his feet. "The harpoon was further away than I thought."
Cahalith
02-24-2011, 11:31 PM
She looked down and was not sure what to say "no- its fine. I over reacted... I just- " She frowned not sure what to say. "so that is a harpoon.." trying to change the subject.
kathryn
02-24-2011, 11:47 PM
"Um.. yeah. Yeah! It is." He brought it out again for her to see. "Do you want to hold it?" He said this, and as he analyzed what his conversations have been like, he felt more and more like an idiot. Okay, she was pretty, but why was he so nervous?
Cahalith
02-25-2011, 12:19 AM
She reached out and poked it, She was not sure how it worked it was an interesting weapon she looked at the blade "I think that would hurt to swallow." She remembered when the sward swallower failed and died...
She was glad he was okay "how did you hold your breath-- Oh I am so dumb." She laughed- it was odd she hadn't laughed in so long "you said you had gills... I remember that is why you refused to ware a shirt..." She hit her head with the palm of her hand and shook her head. Her cheeks going red.
kathryn
02-25-2011, 12:39 AM
She laughed. It was a nice sound to hear. And her blush was just adorable
"Yeah. Useful underwater, but on land I can't breathe if I wear a shirt, and they have to be in water every so often or I get really dried out. And being like I am, it's like being a fish out of water, literally."
Cahalith
02-25-2011, 12:58 AM

02-25-2011, 12:20 PM
Alys laughed she couldn't help it he was being silly, shaking her head slightly "I like trolls, Albert said I was the only child he didn't want to eat..." She smiled softly- she didn't act like one. She only did when her dad came home.
She tilted her head to the side and said and walked over to him "Half breeds aren't liked by either side, but you are right you aren't nearly as bad looking as Albert." She made a face at him that was teasing.
kathryn
02-25-2011, 01:22 PM
He grinned, a blush on his face. "Aww, thanks. You're definitely the most beautiful person I've ever seen," he said, finally walking out of the water and onto the shore next to her.
Cahalith
02-25-2011, 05:09 PM
She looked at him and shook her head "beauty you have strange taste." she made a face at him she didn't agree with the statement she thought she looked like a monster- or demonic creature, no wonder why people where afraid of them.
Alys looked at him "So how long have you been in this town?"
kathryn
02-27-2011, 12:36 AM
(I thought I replied. I guess not)
"Not long. I just came here on the current yesterday. I was thinking about going on the road for a while. That's why I wanted a bottle, to water my gills." He made a face. "I guess I worded that wrong, does that make me sound like a plant to you?" he asked, not really too serious.
"I guess I was hoping that people would be more accepting of me. My village never gave me much trouble.... well, until they threw me out. But until then, they were really nice to me."
Cahalith
02-27-2011, 03:03 AM
Alys looked at him and smiled thinking it was funny that he talked about watering his gills "Well traveling is fun, I guess- for a little bit." She had done it for a sort bit back while she as going between being a runaway to a circus freak.
She bit her lip when she heard the change in the villagers treatment of him "why did they change?"
kathryn
02-27-2011, 01:27 PM
"I..." he started, and paused, thinking about his foster father drowning. "I don't think right now is a good time to talk about it."
He walked over and picked up his things. "If we start traveling now, we can rest during day time. That way you won't have to worry about the sun. I could probably try getting some cloth for a tent too... eventually at least. This area is fairly forested though, so we can either stick to the river and you can rest under some trees, or we can go by the road. It's your choice."
Cahalith
02-27-2011, 01:49 PM
Alys looked at him and nodded, "Its how I traveled last time- by night." She told him. She brought her hands over her head and stretched she wondered why Fisher was so kind to her- it was abnormal for people to be like this...what was his motivation?
kathryn
02-27-2011, 11:09 PM
Fisher nodded. "Let's go upriver then. We can talk while we walk. That reminds me, can you swim?"
Cahalith
02-27-2011, 11:35 PM
Alys looked at him and shook her head "no not really- daddy didn't really like that idea." She didn't realize she said that. "He thought it was dangerous." She told him frowning slightly.
kathryn
02-27-2011, 11:49 PM
"I promise it won't be dangerous with me. But it would be best if you learned how if we travel near the river. That way if anything happens, you won't drown. Not that I'd let you drown," he said, smiling, walking down the river next to her.
"What else did your dad say? It sounds like you really love him."
Cahalith
02-27-2011, 11:59 PM
She looked over at him then at the water "He was gone a lot." She said watching the water as they walked slowly "he was a good man, I am not really even his child- I was what he called my mother's Perfect mistake." She wasn't sure if that was the exact words. "I was how he found out she cheated on him. My daddy he is normal, my mother she was too..." She trailed off looking at the water she thought she saw something like a reflection of a dying forest and a decaying castle she looked up but nothing was there- looking up she saw nothing then the water was clear.
lately since the Ring leaders accident things had been off.
kathryn
02-28-2011, 12:05 AM
"Yeah? What about your mother? I haven't really heard you say anything about her." His webbed toes continued to slap along as he walked.
Cahalith
02-28-2011, 12:30 AM
She looked over at him and said "he left her, and raised me like i was his own- She wasn't allowed any part of my life." She shrugged "He said it was better that way."
kathryn
02-28-2011, 12:34 AM
"Oh. Do you ever wish you knew her?" he asked. Of course, all this came from him growing up. Fisher knew his birth mother was a sea troll, but he was curious about actually having a mother who cared for the well being of her child.
Then again, his father was the best of parents.
Cahalith
02-28-2011, 12:48 AM
Alys looked over at him and tilted her head to the side "no not really." She bit her lip and said "I didn't really even know my daddy, He was busy, his work had him traveling often." She looked back up at the sky wondering if maybe she was just seeing things-
She had asked Jeff is he had seen these things and he told her not to speak of them, usually that was his way of saying yes but it was not a good idea to let any one else know.
"I ran away from home when my father didn't come back for a few months. I was 10, I went from one kind of cage to another." She looked back at him and said "the only difference was that the cage my dad put me in was for my own good."
kathryn
02-28-2011, 12:55 AM
Fisher looked over at her. "I'm sure. But we were given feet to walk with and hands to work with. I know I was given gills to swim," he smiled, feeling the scales at his side.
"As people, we shouldn't be caged. Not unless we want to be. And since you decided to leave your cage for good, you don't have to worry about anyone else putting you there against your will."
Cahalith
02-28-2011, 01:11 AM
Alys nodded, thinking of how some people in the circus liked the cage- they saw it as a way to keep the normals out. Looking at Fisher she wondered if his gills felt different then skin or scales, she was never a very contact oriented person but she was curious as to the texture.
Slowly Alys took in a deep breath the air was so much different out here than in the city she liked the smell of the wet dirt and the sound of the river hitting the stones it was calming. "Fisher, do you ever wonder what happened? like why we are like this?"
kathryn
02-28-2011, 01:15 AM
"Sometimes. I guess I'm just lucky to be born like this," he grinned. "You know the humans are all jealous of my body," he chucked and flexed a green arm, showing the large muscles under the skin.
"I can't really imagine being any different though." He let his arm fall. "Why? Do you wonder?"
Cahalith
02-28-2011, 01:37 AM
She looked up at him and said "You know why the norms hate us?" She wondered if he ever heard the whispers in the streets, that they where carriers of genetic diseased that disfigured them.
Suddenly she stopped walking and looked at her and shook her head- did he take anything seriously? "You carry the Gene that they call Troll, my tutors say that I Care the gene that is part Fae- It disfigured me and made me sick. It is only carried by those that bare these marks now, but there was a time before when it just showed up." She looked at him strait in the eye "Why?"
kathryn
02-28-2011, 06:48 PM
Fisher looked at her strangely. He didn't have a good education, no matter how well he talked. "So... wait. I don't really understand what you're getting at."
Cahalith
02-28-2011, 07:22 PM
Alys looked at him and blinked a few times- She knew that she had some of the best private education that her father could pay for, it had kept her out of trouble for many years. She looked at him "you and me, and the entire freak show back there we are sick, what we are is a genetic disease." She knew it wasn't something any one would want to hear.
Sighing softly "But why would a disorder like this pop up at random?" She was standing very still trying to remember what was it that Jeff said about his strange spiritual theories. "Jeff disagreed with the theory that it was a generic disorder but a Spiritual birth- that once the spirit clings to the body twist the originally normal body into more what the spirit deems more habitable."
She didn't know how true any of it was, but she did know that her mother and father where both normal people human in every way and she wasn't- "Fisher, Do you ever have odd feelings like your in the wrong place?"
Alys knew she did, like this entire world was not the right place for her nor was the one that she dreamed of but the land between the two the borders, the gateway. She felt like maybe she was crazy maybe it was just all those years of living in a circus preforming and pretending to be some one for the show had gotten her all sorts of confused. "never mind, Fisher I am talking nonsense."

"Maybe, but I don't think it's nonsense. I know I feel most at home in the water... and it felt odd to be in the city. It was like I was an outsider. At least when I was still living with Pa I had the sea so close..."
He looked down at himself, remembering what happened. It still aches.
"So that's why they did it," he muttered to himself.

He stopped walking. He didn't mean to say that out loud, and now that it was out in the open, a slow blush crept onto his face.
"I'll... um... I'll tell you about it some other time." He went back to walking, a little fast now. He looked up at the stars. They must have been talking for about an hour.

(that's fine. What are you looking for?)
Fisher didn't notice anyone following them. He just continued to walk in silence for a while.
"The stars look beautiful tonight. They're the same I used to see, but it feels like I'm under a completely different sky..."

((OOC: *does a little dance* Found it!))
The forest undergrowth a doppelganger was watching the two deciding which one it wanted to take on the form of.
Alys looked at him "I understand, in some places there is no stars...." She looked a little sad at those words. "the light was too bright and it washed the stars right out of the sky."
kathryn
03-01-2011, 10:14 PM
"You saw something like that before? Are you sure it wasn't just daylight?" he smiled, nudging her a little with his shoulder, making it appear like he just accidentally walked into her space for a moment.
"Joking aside, you're right. One day I went under water, and I went a little too deep. I was so deep that I could hardly see any light at all. I didn't even know that there was stars until I broke surface again. But before I did, I did see lights beneath the surface. The plants under the water and some of the fish were able to create their own light. It was brilliant."

She felt him brush her and pushed him lightly back, it to be brushing him off but she was being playful, she felt her cheeks get warm and said "The lights in the city where so bright it might as well have been day."
The doppelganger thought that it was interesting that the large strong ugly one was touching the thin tall ugly one- was it some sort of mating ritual- the tall thin ugly one would be useful to get to the large one and be easier to take down- it seemed less strong. it would be the one it would take first. It ducked into hiding as the two continued to yammer on about the stars.
kathryn
03-01-2011, 10:29 PM
(Wow, thin tall ugly one and large strong ugly one. I love the doppleganger's vocabulary. It kind of reminds me of changelings, where a baby is replaced with a monster's baby.)
"Yeah." He looked at her, his face also warm, and blue. "You know, your eyes kinda look like stars."
Cahalith
03-01-2011, 10:41 PM
She looked at him confused she had eyes that did not look like stars she tilted her head to the side confused "I have 6 pupils and they blink like lizards." she didn't understand what he was doing. She tilted her head to the side then turned around and saw the shadows closing in on them she felt better when she was surrounded by the darkness.
OOC: *Laughs* It doesn't doesn't have the memories of the being it has consumed yet- I usually play them as having a less adult way of thing...adult or human...and more childish monster animal like mentality...

The doppelganger looked confused what where they doing? why was that big ugly thing not just try and take her? weird customs these things had... but continued to watch- there was one thing the doppelganger knew from creation watch its prey learn to become it before you become it or else you become the prey.
Alys looked at him "oh- well I don't know about that." She was not used to compliments. She looked at him and said "I am not used to being associated with things of such light." She looked at him "I mean I am not really a being of light...but-- uh thanks" she didn't know what else to do at this point...

Fisher looked back at her. After a moment of silence between them, he said, "I never thought I would meet someone like this when I left. I thought I would just be able to live off the land, make minimal contact with humans, and just... die alone. Now, I want to be a part of some place where I belong. I don't want to be alone anymore."
It felt a little odd to get that off his chest. But at the same time, it felt uplifting.

Alys looked at him confused, she turned her head slowly to look at him. She understand feeling alone, she was always alone her dad was always gone, the tutors where of course suppose to keep her company and paid well for it, and the other circus freaks tried to get close but Alys didn't know how to be close to any one.
Her Father was so distant and he was the one she had wanted the most to be in her life, to show her how to be close to people, Jeff had tried to be a father figure a strange one but one none the less.. She stopped walking and she said "Every one is alone Fisher-" she then turned and looked at him "We all go through our life alone," she frowned "because no one walks on the same road." She felt bad, the truth hurt but he needed to know it was the truth.
Then suddenly as she looked at him she couldn't do it she said "But I don't mind walking on my road that just happens to be next to yours right now." She told him.

It was immediate. A huge smile crossed his face. He was so embarrassed by it that he hid it under his hand. His face felt hot.
Oh man, I'm really falling for her... he thought to himself, glad that his mouth was mushing his mouth closed. Otherwise he would have said it out loud.
"Yeah... I'm glad. I hope we don't run into a fork in our roads," he said, a little teasingly. While they were stopped, he just turned and smiled at her. Her eyes really did look like stars, with the reflection of the moon in them. His heart beat a little faster.

The doppelganger thought the scene before him was odd- Food was weird, why would any one want to pretend to be these things, but of course that was how it would become more powerful.
Alys looked at him "but keep to your side of the rode." She Turned and began to walk "We should get moving its starting to warm up." She was nervous about the sun coming up.

Alys yawned the sun was coming up- she was getting tired.
kathryn
03-02-2011, 08:10 PM
"Alright." He looked around for somewhere for her to lay down that was hidden from the sun. "Well, let's look for a place for you before the sun comes up all the way."
He began to scan the trees, and being used to seeing deep under water where there was little light, he saw a little overhang that looked like it would have a lot of shadows. "There, I think that would work," he said pointing to it.
Cahalith
03-02-2011, 08:13 PM
Alys looked at him then at here he said "I can't swim. or breath underwater." She thought he meant under the water. She wasn't paying attention fully she was tired and getting cranky. Alys was normal a very cranky person. But when she got tired she was more cranky then normal.

03-02-2011, 08:21 PM
"I know. It's not in the water, it's in the forest," he said, smiling. "Come on, you can lay down there."
Fisher started walking towards it, seeing it a little better as he got closer. It seemed fairly good; the overhang went a little further since there was a crop of trees all around it. It even looked like some animals had dug around it to make it deeper.
"Will this work? You'll be sleeping in the dirt, but it's hidden from the sun."
Cahalith
03-02-2011, 08:30 PM
Alys crossed her arms she was tired and pouted, and walked towards the hiding place. As she did the Doppelganger scooted out of the way- it knew it couldn't kill two of them just one- the one that was hiding from the sun it would drag under water when the sun came up- it said it would be sick then. It moved quietly out of the way timing was perfect- it just needed the stronger one to be asleep... it had to be tired too right?
Alys lay down and found a spot that twisted her body in such a way that she could not have been comfortable- but Alys was comfortable. Laying strait was less comfortable for her then laying twisted or in odd angles.
kathryn
03-02-2011, 08:50 PM
"Um..." he blinked as she twisted into a pretzel. For some reason, his face felt hot. "A-alright then! I think I'll go um... over there and take a nap... okay, call me if you need anything!" He grinned and walked back to the river. At least it was close enough where he could get to her quickly if anything happened. And his harpoon was with him, so he could fight effectively.
He decided to lay with his head on the sand and his torso in the water. It was odd for him to breathe air and water at the same time, but it worked, and he could listen to her if anything went wrong.

Alys fell asleep quickly- She felt better as she twisted and contorted herself into the dark shadows. They where the comfort that often people associated with their mother, but Alys associated it with the time and places that normal people didn't go.. People feared what they could not see.
The Doppelganger watched and waited he had to make sure the big ugly thing was out cold may be if it was hit over the head first? but what it it woke up? That would surely make the plans fail.
kathryn
03-02-2011, 09:22 PM
Fisher wasn't quite asleep. He turned to see the sun rise up first. He looked around him for a moment and thought nothing would happen...
So he gathered the stuff and went underwater, digging a little to get his things safely stowed. He resurfaced when he was done, his harpoon in hand, and he looked around himself. There was still no one.
Then why did he feel like he was being watched?
Cahalith

As Fisher went into the water the Doppelganger saw its opportunity- he put a long bony hand over Alys's mouth to hush the sounds- It was a girl- it's name was Alys, and as the Doppelganger pulled her out to the sun to weaken its pray-
Alys began to flailing about writhing in pain the sun was making her sick and suddenly she stopped she didn't have the energy and then the Doppelganger drug her under the water.

Fisher heard a splash and looked around. Curious, he dove under and saw an odd sort of creature holding Alys down under the water.
His heart sank to his chest and he gripped his harpoon, rushing to the thing like a shark with a thirst for blood. His hand shot for it's neck and he drew back his lips in a snarl.
"Let her go!" he said clearly, even underwater.

Alys eye's snapped opened as the darkness of the water surround her then she gasped for air, filling her lungs with water. She couldn't breath- there was no air here she was wet and couldn't swim she began to squirm and move around as the Doppelganger began to take on her form as it wrapped itself around her.
She saw something frighting coming at her it looked like a shark- but sharks weren't in this type of water. She felt her head begin to hurt and her lungs burn... She was slowly suffocating- the Doppelganger looked more and more like Alys and learned more and more like her, until they looked the same--
wrapped around each other.

Seeing a burst of bubbles escape from one of them, Fisher made a choice. Grabbing both of them, he threw them out of the water and onto the ground.
Fisher swam back up, getting out of the water and looking like a walking shark from hell, his harpoon gripped tight in his hand, the rope from the harpoon wrapped around his wrist.
It just took him a moment to realize that there were two Alisons when there should have only been one.

They both coughed up the water until one Alys looked up and saw him her eyes widened with fear looking up at him seeing the Harpoon then felt the sun on her body and fell weakly to the found
The other Alys didn't even get a chance to look she was trying desperately to hide the pain the weakness the sun was causing her.

03-02-2011, 10:36 PM
Fisher looked at the sun and saw that it was rising fast. He made another decision and just slowly walked to the two Alyses. When he came to one, he grabbed her by the elbow. At the other, he dropped the harpoon for a moment and did the same before dragging them both to the woods, where it was at least darker.
There, he dropped them both on the grass. "Alright. Tell me which one is the real Alys or I'll kill you both."
Cahalith
03-02-2011, 10:44 PM
Alyson had not gotten to kill Aly so did not absorb her mannerisms he didn't know her- but knew from watching that she seemed to have an attitude, shrugged slightly. It was the right response
Alys looked at the other one and was a little disturbed by it- She made a face and looked at Fisher then it then Said "Fisher Give me the harpoon." She was going to take care of it. that was not normal to Alys- she was going to try and trick it-- She had a plan. But had to show no signs of this...
The Other Alys looked at her and then at Fisher- they looked the same and sounded the same stood the same- but didn't know what to do- She took a step back looking a little sick from the sun and almost drowning, she shook her head "Fisher don't." it was what Alys would have normally said if she had not intended on tricking it.

"No. If you're not Alys, I don't want you to have a weapon," he stated in a matter of fact tone. "I could just pull you both into the sun again."
Fisher held onto his harpoon tight. He didn't know what to do in this situation. He felt hurt, and he felt like he had watched his pa die a second time, but worse. And he didn't like it.

The fake Alys was relieved but stayed 'calm' in her face she looked at Fisher and said "I am sure there is a way to prove it"
The Real Alys let a twisted smile play on her face "yes- I can pull a knife out of me an gut you where you stand." She told the fake her she knew it wasn't her, she knew she would faint, but the fake her couldn't have the stuff inside her. She had to think quickly--
The fake her looked at her and took a step back, honestly scared it flashed in her eyes for a second- maybe the big troll would have been a better choice after all. It thought Looking at the one called Fisher.
Alys began to get ready to reach inside herself.
kathryn
03-02-2011, 11:16 PM
Fisher just acted. He grabbed her arm before she could reach into herself. "Stop!"
He was afraid. He knew what it meant if she did that, and he was afraid of her fainting. He couldn't bear that the first time.

Alyson looked at him when he touched her arm and stopped her from doing it "Why not Fisher?" She looked at him her eyes empty there was something similar about the way she moved- It was like the performance in the circus. She looked like a wind-up doll.
The other Alys moved away her eyes full of fear she didn't seem to trust that she was safe-
The real Alys looked at it. the one that took her form and turned with an un human grace back at him watching for his reaction.
The fake Alys moved slowly she looked at Fisher and didn't know what to do with all these sudden emotions, and began to cry.
kathryn
03-02-2011, 11:33 PM
Fisher was a little torn now when he heard the other Alys cry. "Umm... I don't think you would ever cry like that, would you?" he asked, letting go of her arm.
He looked down at the other Alys. It seemed weird. From what little he knew, Alys was cold and wouldn't do something like this. "Wh-what's wrong?" he asked, a little tentative. Nothing ruins an angry mood like seeing a woman crying.
Cahalith
03-02-2011, 11:43 PM
Alys shook her head no, but said nothing looking at herself crying- she hadn't sobbed like that since she was 8, when she fell from her first attempt at climbing the wall- she was in a cast for a year. She cried because she failed, and wouldn't be able to run away to her daddy.
She looked at him and tilted her head looking at it...her? she felt pain every day but never did she cry like that- publicly it was at times overwhelming, but she would wait and hide find a private place to shed a tear.
Alys looked at him and said "I think it has a sympathetic link. I was very afraid that you where going to kill me, and so I numbed myself-- Made myself feel nothing." She looked at him "I think it is scared and sad." She looked at it and as it raised its face she pointed one of its bony fingers at her and said "YOU LIAR!"
Alys looked at it calmly as it lunged at her its face stained it tears it was now angry.

03-02-2011, 11:53 PM
Fisher saw one lunge at the other and he caught her in mid air.
"Hey! I'll have none of that here!" he said harshly, holding her tight. In Alys' form, she was thin, and it would have made him embarrassed to hold her like that, but now he was just trying to make sense of the situation.

03-03-2011, 08:55 AM
The Doppelganger was confused it didn't have what it needed to survive it needed to kill the one that it had taken the form- it needed to in order to really become it. It realized then that was what it was suppose to do, it was suppose to take one another's life- well now it was going to ruin this ones.
The Doppelganger looked up at Fisher softly- making it hard for him to hurt her. The male had a soft spot for this body. It wouldn't hurt it as long as it looked like the one he called Alys.
Alys looked at this display and wondered if maybe her trick would have been better played as an actual solution. Killing it might be better, She didn't like how it batted its eyelashes that looked just like hers at Fisher... Fisher was going to get played.
She crossed her arms and turned her back on the situation she couldn't watch this- She was also tired and cranky "look what ever you do with it I don't care." She said
the Doppelganger looked hurt by her word, but said nothing.
Alys shook her head "but if you can't deal with it I will." this time there was no trickery behind those words she would find away to get ride of her mirror image.
The Doppelganger knew this, and looked at Fisher with pleading eyes, it seemed like it was a kind creature, warm, and caring. Just scared. It needed him to believe that so it could finish the job.

Fisher was tired. He only needed to sleep a few hours, as was his life as a fisherman on the run, but that was only if he got to sleep at a certain time. Now he was burning way past the time he would have gone to bed.
He looked down at the doppleganger. It was beautiful in this form, but at the moment he didn't care. He didn't want to hurt it though...
"Get the rope off of my harpoon, Alys. I'm going to tie this thing up so that it won't get away. We can deal with it after we get some rest," he said, dropping the rope and his weapon to the ground.
Cahalith
03-04-2011, 12:43 AM
The fake Alys watched as the real Alys walked way turning to get the rope- this might be a good opportunity, make the big ugly like it better. As the real Alys turned way the Fake Alys looked at Fisher and hugged him tightly "thank you." She looked so frightened and scared.
Real Alys was busy untying the rope, and did not see the fake Alys getting cozy with Fisher, by the time she turned the hug was over and she tossed it at Fisher- She was not happy about his choice.
kathryn
03-04-2011, 01:54 AM
By the time the hug was over, Fisher's face was blue again. It was odd that a thing that looked like Alys and sounded like Alys but didn't act like Alys would be attractive and disgusting at the same time, but... He was a guy, so his mind was lagging a little.
He caught the rope and firmly, without letting the fake-Alys get away, tied it to a small tree, with it's hands behind and around the tree, the rope tight.
"Alright. I think that's tight enough..." he said, finishing up. His fishing knots were tight and pretty escape proof.
"So, what would you have rather we did?" he asked, turning to the real Alys.

Alys looked at herself tided and looking helpless- it made her sick. What she disliked more was that she knew it wanted her dead- She touched her forehead she felt like something was trying to crawl its way through-
Shaking her head she shivered realizing she was cold. The air was not warm and as a breeze blew though the trees rippling over the water she knew she was soaked, right to the bone.
She looked at Fisher and said "It can't be trusted." she wanted it dead, and not just left to die- you never leave anything for dead. Frowning slightly she looked at him wondering if he could do it- she didn't think he had it in him. He wasn't a killer.

"I know. But at the moment I'm tired and angry and you have to get dry or else you can catch a cold in the lungs," he said, looking at her. He walked off, leaving the harpoon where it was.
"I'll come back and make a small fire for you, alright? Stay there. I'll come right back."
He walked to the river and dove in, diving to the bottom. It was a good thing that he had put the box of matches in the jar.
Cahalith
03-04-2011, 02:54 AM
Alys saw him dive down deep into the water looked at the copy of her and suddenly she smiled- The copy of her shook her head as the real Alys bent down picking up the harpoon slowly she advanced on the tided up doppelganger, who could not twist her way out of the ropes- It did not have the knowledge to do so like Alys did.
Alys's shadow casted over her and before she could even hear herself screams he sunk the harpoon into herself, she watched as her blood poured out-
The doppelgangers mouth was open holding the harpoon it was pushed through and protruding out the back. the death was quick but Alys didn't know if it was painless. She watched as she saw herself stare lifelessly back at her.
She was sure it was dead as she pulled the harpoon out of herself putting her foot on her bare chest to use as leverage- the sound of the harpoon leaving her body was sicking. She shivered, and felt ill as more blood oozed out.
Gracefully she kicked the lifeless image of herself down and pushed the harpoon into the center of the face destroying the brain. there was no way it could come back now.
She pulled the weapon out wiped the blood off of it on the grace and then started to turn to go wait for Fisher, he had matches and that would give some sort of warmth... though she had to be careful not to burn herself.

(Fisher would have to be careful around fire too. Fire really hurts him. .w.)
Fisher just pulled the entire bag up. He wasn't going to leave her alone, even if it was easier for him to sleep underwater.
He walked out of the river, riffling for the jar... and then he saw the fake Alys face down and covered in blood.
"What... What did you do?" he said, his face hinting with sadness, rage, and ultimately, confusion. It hadn't hit him yet what had happened.

Alys looked at him and said "I took care of it." was all she could say, Alys felt sick. She didn't look at her self keeping her mind calm and collected as she walked away from the bloody pile that once looked like her.
She felt like crying, she had killed something- even if it was going to kill her, the shivering was not just because she was cold any more it was because she felt bad. she walked to the rivers side and washed her hands calmly getting the blood off of her then her boots.
Alys didn't even appear to feel an ounce of remorseful.
kathryn
03-04-2011, 03:23 AM
"You..." he looked back at the dead thing, his thought trailing away. He swallowed hard and untied the creature, his knots coming loose easily in his hands.
Not wishing to see it's blood, he dragged it to the river and tied a large rock to it's chest. Then he let the body drop. It was an odd burial, but it helped him feel better about the death. The burial didn't help prevent his anger from rising about the killing.
"Why did you do it? It was a living being!" he said, his voice getting a little loud.
Cahalith
03-04-2011, 03:33 AM
Alys watched him tight a rock and drop it in the water "yes" She told him, "it was a living creature." as she watched herself sink she watched the blood her blood swirl to the surface then pool till it dissipated.
Looking at him she didn't know why he was yelling at her- "did you want it to fallow us?" she asked trying to stay calm but she was not feeling well, she was remaining distant and in doing so it made her look like she had no feelings about the waste of its life.

He looked away. Then after a moment he walked back into the forest. "Come on. We should get you dried off."

She felt something weird happen, did Fisher like that thing better? Suddenly she crossed her arms and said "I am fine I don't need to dry off."
Alys didn't know fisher, why did it matter?

Alys was livid- she didn't know why but there was no way she was ever going to go to sleep. She looked over at Fisher and crossed her arms in stumbern anger as she began to shiver. "dammit' She muttered, realizing yes, she was cold.
She would deal with the consequence of choosing not to dry off later. She moved near Fisher but not next to him still angry She was not going to sleep and needed to stay in the dark. Maybe finding a shadow to sink into would be safest, She felt tired suddenly and soon nodded off.

The sun grew overhead and the two stayed in the shadows of the forest, sleeping while it slowly sank down. While they slept, Fisher had somehow rolled next to Alys, his arms wrapping around her and keeping her warm. His scales felt soft as they dried, and as his dreams became darker, he made soft noises in his sleep.

Alys slept like the dead, her body twisted into some odd shape or another, laying in a position that to most human or not would seem unnatural.
But when she felt a weight on her her eyes fluttered open and she winced at the brightness feeling instantly unwell. She looked over and wondered what the heck he was doing so close to her. Frowning she tried to squirm out but heard the sounds of a whimper.
She tilted her head and poked his face a few times to try and wake him up. first in the cheek and then his nose, sighing softly she flicked his hear and said "Fisher wake up!" her voice hissed through an attempt to not yell at him. She didn't feel good it was day out it was bright, but even though in the shade she still didn't like it.

He heard a small sound in his dream and opened his eyes. He blinked for a few times, gave a small smile, and then had this dawning realization; he wasn't in a dream.
Fisher's eyes threw themselves open and in a panic he put some distance between himself and her. "I-I-I... What... I'm so sorry, I didn't..." he stuttered, going off, still not having his thoughts together. His face felt burning hot and looked like he took a dip into freezing water.

She looked at him oddly and waved her hand discerningly "every one has nightmares." Alys shook her head, he was really weird. Tilting her head to the side she felt her neck pop as she started to unfold herself her hips and spine made the same cracking sound as it re adjusted itself "Its bright, and I think The sun woke me." She lied, he looked horribly embarrassed, and though she was still upset at him she wasn't one to make matters worse, usually.

"Ah... right." He flustered for a moment, getting up and dusting himself off. "Let's get you back under that tree. It should be much darker there." He was embarrassed. He usually didn't cuddle like that in his sleep. And they were still fighting... He shook the sleep out to try and remember what they were fighting about... And then he looked over at the red blood, dried on the grass.
Ah. Right.

She closed her eyes and stood, she felt really queasy and dizzy from the bright light putting a hand on her head she said "No I will be fine." She didn't want to risk moving, she was 6 feet in height and that was long fall.
She squinted letting the first layer of her eyelids slide over to block some light out "It will be fine." she mostly said to herself 6 pupils where small and just tiny specks from the amount of light she was not used to.

Fisher had just woken up and because of this was a little more forward than he usually is. With a sigh, he bent down and picked her up, lifting her slight body easily.
"No. You're not fine. You've been dunked in water, slept wet, almost killed, and now sick from the sunlight. I'm going to put you back under that tree and keep you safe and warm. And you're going to like it," he said firmly and began carrying her back to the tree roots.

Alys looked at him in horror but was too tired and weakened by the sun to really fight back but it didn't stop her from stating "Fisher I demand that you put me down this minute!" she sounded much like some one who was just stripped of their dignity

He didn't answer until they got back to the tree roots. "Alright. If you insist." He bent down and gently tucked her under there in the pitch darkness. Not so gently, he dropped her and withdrew his arms.
"You stay in there and just rest. When you wake up, I'll make us some food to eat. Okay?"

Alys Stood wobbling a little once she was set down and her legs gave out, he had to pass through day light to get to the spot, and it had left her very drained, and weak.
Falling on her butt she looked up at him narrowing her eyes still being stubborn. "I can take care of myself." She told him still insisting.
She was still a little peeved about the disagreement and then being treated like a child. She crossed her arms to show him that she was not going to do as he said.
Then she yawned and got a look of 'how dare you'

"Yes, of course you can take care of yourself, that's why you almost got killed," he said a little harsh. He caught himself before he said anything even more stupid. He sighed. "I'm sorry. I haven't been treating you like you deserve today. Just... I'm going to get some rest. If you still want to travel with me, then... please, stay."

Alys was confused by his reaction "Fine. Whatever" was all she could say, didn't know how to talk to Fisher, or why he put up with her. She wasn't the nicest person in the world, nor was she the best at talking to people.
She looked at the spot in the distance where she killed herself and frowned looking in that direction "We will see tomorrow"

Fisher nodded and sat down against the tree, quickly going back to sleep. He didn't know what it was about her. She wasn't the best person, not the friendliest at least. But she was beautiful. This thought made his scars ache and he went into a restless sleep.

As Alys drifted back to sleep her mind was full of grief and guilt over the death of the creature, she tossed and turned a few time until she settled back down-
When darkness of night flooded the earth she woke up and began to settle she fluttered her eyes open and looked around she felt gross, and the idea of going to the water where Fisher dropped the body made her feel even more like she couldn't get clean.
So She sat there staring at that spot where she killed it.

(I forgot that Fisher had dropped the body in the river)
Fisher didn't move right away when he woke up. He turned and saw that Alys wasn't there. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he found her standing in that spot. Quiet as he could he walked up to her.
"Are you alright?" he asked.

Alys jumped not having heard him lost in her own thoughts, spinning around she put her hand on her chest and narrowed her eyes she looked startled, into a glare "yes, I am fine." She lied.
Alys moved from her spot and said "unless you need to eat something we should get moving." She wished she had something to clean herself with. The thing she killed made her feel like she had just destroyed something that was a part of her. She wondered if it was because she watched herself do it.
an unknowing frown crossed her lips as she looked back at the river.
OOC: ya, at least i think he did- i remember him doing it..

(Yeah, I remember too)
He sighed and gathered the bag and his harpoon. "Alright. Let's get a move on." He began to walk, not too fast, but silent and purposefully.

Alys fallowed she didn't say anything she was trying too hard not to become overwhelmed with the feelings that where trying to pry their way out.
Alys was slow moving, and unknowingly she looked back over her shoulder- she wondered if she made the right choice.

It was perhaps half an hour later when Fisher looked back to her. He had been walking at just a good enough speed as to not lose her, but he did notice something in her steps.
He sighed. "You made a good decision. It was... something I wouldn't have been able to do."

Alys stopped and looked at him confused, she didn't know how to respond to Fisher, she suddenly pouted "I am fine Fisher." She didn't want him to comfort her, she had just killed something. "where are we going?"

He stopped and blinked. "I don't know. I've been traveling for a year now, and I have no idea where I'm going," he said with a smile.
"Do you have a suggestion?"

Alys looked at him and said "I have been all over this country." She shrugged not sure what to tell him. She paused slightly and said "if i could go any where it would be a place that wasn't real." She shrugged "do you get weird dreams?" She asked
kathryn

"Is there such a thing as normal dreams?" he asked. Then thought for a moment. "Okay. Let's find somewhere that's not real. Where would we start?"

Fisher shrugged. "Okay." He turned and began walking again.
But it wasn't long until he looked back at her again, a little blush on his face. "What sort of dreams do you have?"

Alys looked at him and said "of a dying world." She was being honest, it was hard but she figured it was the best she could do to show she was trying to be open but it was hard.
"but it was beautiful."

"Really?" he asked. His dreams were awful weird sometimes, but... "What does the end of the world look like?"

Alys looked over at him "its not this world. and it hasn't ended yet." She explained frowning slightly "its slowly being consumed by something, but what, I don't know." She shrugged.
Walking a bit more she sighed "its not a real place, its just a dream." Shrugging "sometimes a nightmare."
