Anyone seen this movie yet? Any reviews or opinions or discussions? I am talking about the one with Amanda Seyfried that came out today - March 11, 2011.

No, but I'm actually thinking of going to see it, doesn't look like a bad movie and my Girlfreind seems pretty excited about it

I've heard it's terrible, but I haven't seen it yet myself.

I plan on watching it on Netflix when it comes out, so Chriz and I can surf the web on our laptops during the boring bits.

I sure hope it's not terrible, it'd be a waste of 26 bucks :/

Isn't this directed by the same woman who directed the first Twilight flick, and was subsequently fired from helming any others? Yeah...

Katherin Hardwick wasn't fired from directing the other movies, she backed out, as Summit wanted to start filming the other films immediately, and Hardwick felt that they were rushing the films. She gladly turned them down.

As for Red Riding Hood... I saw it.

So I guess you want to know if it is bad or not? Well it isn't bad... per say, but it isn't all that great either. In many ways, not only does it share some of the same plot points as Hardwick's Twilight, it also suffers from bad writing, bad story telling, and incredibly drab pacing.

The reality is, the movie tries to do what three other films did better. It tries to convey the dark dangerous world of men-sex aka Company of Wolves. It tries to bring the horror of a town be stalked by an unearthly beast, aka Brotherhood of the Wolf, and it tries to interject a supernatural conspiracy theory aka Sleepy Hollow. All three of these movies mastered their craft and did it very well, but Red... comes out a bit jumbled.

I don't know about anybody else, but the movie's abrupt and rather pointless opening made me feel like I had missed the first part of the film entirely. For a moment, I almost thought that the movie projector had skipped the first 20 or 30 minutes of the film. You're not introduced to ANY of the characters... You're not introduced to the horror that is stalking Daggerhorn, nor the plight and fears of the people. You're not even introduced to the supposed love triangle... I swear it took 20 minutes to find out the main character's name!

With 10 min of the story, a girl is killed (off screen) and the towns people muster together to go kill the werewolf... How do they know it is a werewolf, is never explained. Why would they assume it was a werewolf? Who knows... And it takes the methodical acting of Gary Oldman's character, Brother Solomon (ugh) to explain to them, that IF it is a werewolf, then quite possibly the said werewolf could be one of them!!!!

I guess not only is Daggerhorn full of scared, poverity stricken yokals... they all are just really stupid. Poor wolf... He could have done so much better. Then again, these people are as dumb as the sheep they keep. :P

Within 20 minutes of the film, the towns people FINALLY decide to do something about the dreaded wolf and mount up a posse. After 20 years of fear, they are FINALLY getting this idea? I guess years of inbreeding would do that.

Bad things happen... so they are left to the mercy of Solomon.

In short the first half of the film is a total mess. It's incoherent and it really needs a good dose of exposition to help striaghten things out, as well as a bit of character development, or at least they should have introduced the characters.

The movie's second half is actually pretty well done. Once it FINALLY gets going, the actual plot begins to take off. It feels more like a solid film, but alas before it really soars, the film is done.

Had the movie started out as halfway as strong and developed as it ended, it actually could have been pretty decent, unfortunately that wasn't the case.

What about the Wolf... I don't know about anybody else, but I found the wolf to be incredibly adorable. If I had seen a wolf like that skulking me, I'd want to pet it rather than run for my life. In fact I would collar it, name it Waffles, and take it for walks. :D

A lot of people have complained about the crappiness of the CGI... and in reality while the CGI doesn't hit ILM standards, I wasn't expecting 120 million dollars worth of animation from a 42 mil budgeted movie. I wish they would have spent more on the film though... The extra dollars would have helped not only the CGI, but the whole package...

My only mega-gripe in this movie is the SOUNDTRACK! Wow, the score made me feel like I was watching Spawn or Mortal Kombat. Ugh... it's aweful noise... and Fever Ray... Why... WHY?

Poor werewolves...

I dunno about gladly. I mean they were offering her bucketloads of money. Also, the main reason I keep seeing that she didn't want to helm the sequel is from a tighter budget and time contraints. I mean really? This isn't Grand Illusion, these are the Twilight pics. Unless she wanted a bigger budget for white makeup for Pattison I don't see what the problem is. Also, I believe around that time inside sources were saying Hardwick was very hard to work with.

Also, this film has a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes. So you know...

During the week $5 each at AMC. Better still is waiting for it to hit the "dollar" theater. I also opted to get a rewards card for AMC. Which has brought me many a free drink and pretzel for my dates.

I saw True grit for $8 total with my girlfriend at kind of a dive theater. Food wasn't even that unreasonable.

<3 old theaters in this recession.

*blinks* drive in cinema! Really! that is SO FREAKING COOL! my Ex-girlfriend used to talk about having gotten to go to one, but I never was able to take her to one...:( then we broke up...

I however am one of the worst Cinema people ever, so I wait till everything comes out to DVD, the concept of sitting still is difficult when I am NOT ALLOWED to move! I squirm way too much *shrugs*

So I am going to wait (Despite the pretty+intriguing preview) till its on NetFlix, hopefully instant watch...

I am a SERIOUS movie watcher. If I am interested I usually get really into the movie. If not I do tend to squirm. Or mess with people I'm seeing the movie I'm with.

But I love going to a theater. It will always probably be my favorite kind of date.

The movie has to be REALLY good, I mean super good to get my interest. My Ex was really into movies so I did what I could to go with her, and try and be still.

Because it was something she liked, I did my best to try and do it with her. =p And it gave us something to talk about or make fun of together.

I like to go to parks and play on playground stuff or go for walks...*shrugs* or to cuddle, inside and read a book (sometimes different books or the same)

At the Theaters in NY, a ticket for a regular movie is like 12 dollars, for Imax 3D it's like 16 dollars, and the food there is so expensive, but I don't care about the price, I never have anything to do with the money anyway except save for college which isn't exactly fun, Sixty thousand and counting

Ok, I watched the movie recently and while it didn't shake the world for me, I was pleasantly surprised.
No doubt some things were a bit melodramatic. I noticed some actual folkloric elements in the movie as well of course the Brother's Grimm references as well as those of other fairy tales.
And the film definitely had his surprising moments and you ask yourself, damn why didn't I notice that, it was right there.

All in all the movie is watchable. Not really big cinema but enough for a nice evening.
