Watch the cultural attitudes towards fast/synthetic food change and sales go down. Watch as the industry starts taking certain advertising measures to consolidate its revenue base among certain segments of the population. Watch as they engage in some back-room dealings and a bill is mysteriously produced out of thin air that, when you actually read it, does more to protect them than aid in what will at that point be as much a ridiculous culture war as a health issue.

Or is this already happening? It's hard to tell because as it is, tobacco seems to be staggering in third place behind pot and gay marriage in the culture war race/race war. The media did give about as big a shit about the food industry as big tobacco at one point, so what happened?

Don't know about your local media, but the new thing around here is the nutrition, or lack thereof, in school cafeterias. A few Sundays ago, both the front page and the Insight section (which focuses on sociopolitical issues) both had spreads on school foods and what some places are doing to make kids eat a little healthier during the day.
