Is it just me or has the featured picture not changed for over a week?

It says "Picture of the Week" IIRC. But I think it's only updated when someone wins a contest that involves artwork, like the CD cover contest or the Art Brawl. Since we haven't had an art contest winner for over a week, the picture hasn't updated.

It was supposed to be of the week, but I was only updating it when someone won a contest.

Hm, gives me an idea. Any suggestions on how to turn it into a contest?

You could pick the best pictures from peoples albums and ask people to vote on them.


Or you could ask people to go through every picture in peoples albums and vote on them.

My brain totally doesn't work because the concept of a "week" wasn't processing.

About the album idea it would be ok, as long as it isn't like people's "personal" pictures (bathroom portraiture, underage cleavage, hot topic shopping etc etc). I'm not really keen (myself) on non "artistic" imagery. It's a good idea, I'm just throwing in my two cents.

If we were to do a contest for personal photos, I'd say that each photo would have to adhere to a certain theme, just to avoid the random Myspace poses and pictures of an extreme closeup of a friend's eye. I'm not keen on going into everyone's albums and picking photos from there. That takes the control out of the member's hands, and (if I'm understanding this correctly), it's like a mandatory contest. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I think people should sign up for a weekly contest and submit the photo they think is best. But like Morgana, I favor contests that focus more on art than who can strike the best pose.

then there are the obvious ones (like Halloween) but maybe there could be one for the occasional Friday the 13th that rolls around if the contest is set up far enough in advance. could be interesting to see what photos result with Friday 13 as the theme.

yeah, i know...a Legion of Jason lookalikes.
