I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free

Everday I recite the pledge of allegiance because it means something important to me

I live in a free country, one that's been free for over two hundred years

Over the past couple of calendars, complication has formed many tears

But this is the safest country in the world

The bravest and strongest ever born

I watch television and never get scared now

Because I live in a quiet safe American town

I won't get shot down when I step outside, or when I speak out loud

I don't have to peek around corners to see if any Al-Qaeda are around

We try to spread freedom around the world

Yet daily our military by the second is becoming torn and worn

No country will support us, yet they all want our aid

What other country wants a free world and plays in minefields everyday?

Our brothers and sisters are dying day by day, yet no one gets up to say

"Thankyou for your support" every musty and sunny waking day

They're always risking thier lives, but don't kid me, no one ever has something nice to say

But let's not be bothered, it's simply the American way

Either way, I'm proud to be an American

Where at least I know what to say

BTW, this was made a few years back when the Iraq war first started and tensions were very anti-military. I realize that countries like England and others have an alliance with the U.S.

from one proud American to another, thank you :beerchug: I love the simplicity of the poem and how it is blunt and to the point. This part was my favorite Over the past couple of calendars, complication has formed many tears
because you showed emotion in it without making it take over and it made me sit back and reminisce and actually become teary eyed. I also loved this part Yet daily our military by the second is becoming torn and worn
no one knows that better then us military men/women but it's a bold and incredibly true statement
