So what music do you like, what do you listen to, what is your favourite band.
Discuss music, songs, new bands and share your musical tastes.
This thread is to discuss different types of music and styles of music.
One thing im really into at the moment is the more electronic stuff.
And my favourite has to be this one.

I will listen to just about any type of music, with the exception of most heavy metal, most country, and some rap. Most of my music collection is rock or classical, though. Favorite band is a hard question because it changes frequently. Currently it's Nada Surf. Here's one of their more famous songs, which I like because all the lyrics, except the chorus, are from a 1964 book called Penny's Guide to Teen-Age Charm and Popularity:
RNc45FTenhg
My most recent musical obsession is Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Those who watch the discovery channel might recognize this song from one of their commercials:

I'll listen to anything but rap with the exception of one rapper (Tupac). Mainly though I love rock and metal. Hands down number one favorite band of all time is Metallica  I've love them as far back as I can remember. Recently I've been listening to Nickelback, Creed, Disturbed and Tokio Hotel. I love instrumental music (love the Phantom of the opera sound track), Prodigy, Frank Sinatra, and Native American music especially the flute :) my favorite Metallica songs are: Enter Sandman, Unforgiven (1 & 2), Where ever I may roam and Until it sleeps. The songs I have been listening to lately are 'Pouring Reign' by As blood runs black, 'The day that never comes' by Metallica and Don't jump by Tokio Hotel.

I like a little bit of everything with the exception of the over commercialized crap or genuinely bad. Those are the two genre that just overall have the most concentrated awfulness.
Hip Hop I'm totally keen on Minnesota's own Brother Ali
jxUQ07NXB4c
Old style country it's Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Senior...etc.
I do like Hank Williams III's music. Which I'd consider less country but too soft for Psycho-billy (which is also good).
bEY8ARSGHTU
Contemporary Irish and folk music is also something I love. Nothing like listening to Dropkick Murpheys (B0009IOR0C) or going to see Flogging Molly (B000ZM7VVO) and drinking the whole night. Then there's the Duhks or Rasputina for something different.
For R&B/soul I do like the "revival" music the Brits have been doing with Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Adele.
I also like the contemporaries like India Arie
QFMC1N3L3n4
Recently I went to a concert with a really awesome artist called Meiko. Her music could be considered pop but there is something about it that sets it apart and her next album is going to have bittersweet humor to it.

This post is getting long, so I'll wrap it up with some Depeche Mode to represent my angry/dark music.
Probably will be back with more.

I am a huge Danzig fan (obviously by my avatar) but I also love: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slipknot, Disturbed, Pantera and AC/DC. I mostly listen to rock/metal but I also listen to classical music, mostly piano (from my piano playing days) but I like the older stuff like 'Moon River'. The current song I am killing is Slipknot's 'Psychosocial'.

Today has sort of a somber spin to it so I feel like sharing one of the greatest musicians of the blues and probably music in general. For those that don't know, Robert Johnson is the inspiration for a lot of music of his time and of today. He helped to create what is blues today and a lot of grittier rock/hiphop/country as well. Heh some of his stuff is even the original emo.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea but to me and a few others at least his is great music.

A few of my favourite tracks:

Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett) - That's When The Audience Died (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BH5-IISv0U)
I do like upbeat stuff as well; I guess it's best not to answer this thread after dark (unless there's a beast of a soundsystem and a ridiculous amount of lasers  ).

Call me pretentious for liking some of the new agey-type world music out there, but when I'm in the mood for some quieter, more relaxing stuff, hardly anything else will suffice. Here are some favorites.
Laliya - Just Like River (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlIRJvUwo4s)
Loreena McKennit - All Souls' Night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtfqoWS3z90) (bless her heart, she sang Happy Birthday to me in the autograph line when she came around, and yes it was my actual birthday...seeing her live is almost a religious experience, sans the religion :notworthy: )
Coyote Oldman - Iron Wood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL68OSWwYlc)
Unfortunate that I can't find a music sample anywhere right now, but ]this (http://www.amazon.com/Celtic-Nights-Enaid-Einalem/dp/B000000JXP/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1284427069&sr=8-3) gets lots of plays on the Zen, especially as I'm falling asleep.

I highly recommend both artists~

And, of course, the yearly seasonal favorite. Although, with all due respect, as a former trumpet player who participated in a high-level symphony orchestra in high school, I'd have to draw the line at the little urchin running between the instruments. That would so not fly with me.
