Hello Mac owners!
This is a thread that will allow all Mac users on the forum to help fellow Mac owners when it comes to trouble shooting.
So, if you have a question or need help with something Mac related, give it a go and I'm sure SOMEONE here will be able to point you in the right direction.
Please, let's keep this civil! :)

I've got some must have apps for macs that I loves that I will be posting.
To start things off:
Eversave! (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/eversave.html)
The handy dandy utility app that allows you to put in practically any program you are running and will autosave for you if switch windows or in case of a program crash.
It's not without it's faults of course. You need to save a program first instead of starting a new file and clicking in and out of the window. It'll either crash both items or annoying the hell out of you until you save it. Or if you're creating multiple versions of a file definitely make copies of the file at every stage. This should be a no brainer for most aspiring digi artists but for some reason I always forget and when I've made a change to file that I am later not happy with I cannot go back and change it. :P
But all and all this handy dandy little app has saved my work more than anything.
Programs I use it with that do not have an autosave function:
Illustrator
Photoshop
Quark
etc...

Of course I'm kidding. I'm on an iMac myself.

I can certainly lend a hand. While my home PC is running OpenSUSE 11.1 (Linux), all computers at work are Macs, except our server which is Vista. *sigh*
Anyway, as I'm systems coordinator for our newspaper, if there's any trouble, feel free to ask or message me on my IMs.

Vista is awful. I just wanted to clarify that point, even as an XP user. It's just awful.

I want to hopefully get an iMac by next year. My PC is terribly slow and buggy because of defects.
NEVER buy HP. NEVER.

That may be true, but let's not turn this thread into "Mac vs Windows."
If you like Mac more than Windows, sing the virtues of Mac, don't disparage Windows. Create another thread for that. :p

Some what relevant to the board's current events, I have for you folks another application.
WriteRoom (http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/writeroom)
A writing program that basically darkens out your screen making it look like the old green/black screened computers of yester-year. Doing this, it at least limits your digital distractions.
Downside of this program that you do eventually have to pay to continue using it. However before that you at least get 23 days of a free trial.
I'm sure there is better ways of doing this or other applications that are completely free. I just thought though it would be worth checking out for some folks.
It works really well and is really nice environment to do writing work in.

Anyone use iStat? I find it really great for troubleshooting CPU usage and network speed on the fly, and keep track of free space on my hard drive.
