I understand that the art portion of the board is now currently for art discussion, either on an inprogress piece or on a different artist, or whatever, and I did see that Chriz posted a link to his little comic strip as well. I understand the rules.
So, I started a comic journal thing (something like my thoughts while I'm re-reading Eragon *shudder*) and I was wondering if I could post it in the art section, or if I should just post it in my album, or what I can do to let others see it beside posting it on another website and giving everyone a link.
It's a work in progress since I just finished the first one today.

If you are looking to post a thread on your comic journal in the hopes of generating discussion and are anticipating help from members to improve as you go, that's fine.
The point of the art forum now is to encourage discussion of art techniques, styles, critiques and general transmission of information. In the case of comic strips, the forum can also be used to help artists find out what story lines, dialogue, etc. work for viewers and get new ideas.
What we're trying to avoid in that forum is people posting threads specifically to show off their art, and people posting "wow great!". If you just want to show off your art, the albums section is a great place for that.
Comments that have no content will be deleted, and threads in the art forum specifically meant to display artwork will also be deleted.
I hope that makes sense?

Yes, thank you. I think I'll just post the first comic page as an image (to see where I might need improving), and then post a link to where I'll upload the rest of the comic pages as they come.
Thank you for explaining it to me again.

I'm bummed that the 'showcase' thread isn't there anymore, as it's one of the main reasons I joined the site. I'm sure there's a good reason, but would someone be willing to tell me the reason?

When we updated the site, we gained the ability for members to have their own albums specifically for the purpose of showing off their artwork (and photos).
If you have a particular theme in mind in regards to your art or photography, you're more than welcome to create a thread in Artwork and Illustrations directing people to your album and explaining any meaning behind it, etc.

I mostly enjoy looking at other people's art, so I suppose I'll hunt around for some people with albums.

Quasi O/t but if you like looking at art I have some links of interest...
Deviantart (which I'm sure you've come to discover about now given the lateness of this response.)

And that's it for now because those two are big enough to see a lot of art. :P nyah
