So, what did you watch after coming home after school?

Anime hit mainstream while I was in high school, so before that, afternoon TV consisted of old animated short and old prime-time reruns. Stuff like this...

Of course, some of you are young enough that you don't watch TV after school. You just come home and get online. But for the rest of you, what were the shows you tried to catch?

Animaniacs and Tiny Toons were on after school.

I admit, I spent most of my after school days during middle school watching things like Pokemon and Dragonball Z. I pretty much was glued to the television when Toonami hit the screen.

For a long time it was old school nickelodeon (way before rugrats was kid safe enough to be on everyday instead of late night Saturday) or even getting home and having liquid TV be on.

Then it was Recess and Pepperanne after my folks gave up cable for awhile.

When I did go home after school, it was first Animaniacs and tiny toons during elementary school. Toonami during middle school and high school. That was pretty much the run of my after school programing.

Mind you, it wasn't often that I stayed inside or at home after school till I HAD to be home.

By the time I was in middle school, I had one show on my mind for afternoon viewing.

For some reason the moron who put this up disabled embedding for this one clip only. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjxpt7tcUWc)

Yes, the animation is a little primitive, but this was around 1981. Afternoon TV consisted of reruns of Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch. As for any other animation... Two words: The Superfriends (no, Transformers didn't exist yet).

Oh, the above clip also works as a drinking game. Take a drink every time Desslok (that's the blonde, blue-skinned dude) says "yes" during his impassioned speech.

I was never allowed to watch TV after school, but when I could sneak into the TV room it was Rocko's Modern Life, Pete and Pete, and anything Looney Tunes.

Animaniacs when I was home and Tom and Jerry. Usually I mainly watched Saturday morning cartoons waiting for my friends to wake up which included: Tales from the Crypt (yes that was a cartoon too), Sonic the hedgehog, Power Rangers, The Adams family, and Snorkles

My faves when coming home were Wishbone and Kratt's Kreatures during elementary. After middle school I usually stayed up to watch Invader Zim.

Now that I'm out of school, I try to find time to watch Fuse.

I'm really trying to rack my brain remembering, but I can only come up with a few things:

Robotech when I was around 14 or so
Sid & Marty Kroft stuff (I can't recall if that was before school, after school or on weekends, or maybe all three.)
The Third Eye (an amalgamation of Canadian/UK shows in the early days of Nickelodeon.)

Woohoo!

I was almost afraid I was alone in watching PBS after-school programs. Wishbone, Kratt's Kreatures, Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego (and it's really shitty spinoff that I refuse to name)...also Bill Nye The Science Guy back in the day. We didn't have cable, still don't but oh well.

Wishbone was amazing and pretty much the only reason I got into reading a lot of classics. As sad as that is.

Looney Toons, Hong Kong Fooey (I think that is how it is spelled) and Transformers. Damn I'm old.

Some other cartoons that I would watch after school consist of...

- Johnny Quest (Every version and the movies)
- Doug
- Batman: The Animated Series (Before they started to suck)
- Freakazoid
- The Tick
- Animaniacs

I'm sure there are more, but I've seemed to have run into a mental brick wall. I'll update this if I remember anymore.
