This is for those of us who appreciate watching a good thrashing on television between two people (or groups) that have never faced off in reality, face off.

Who's seen the show? Do you like it? Which was your favorite episode? Who do you think will prevail?

Check it out!

I’ve seen it, doesn’t really interest me at all.

I have Tai Chi when it's on so I ask my dad to record it.

He forgot to record the one where it was Yakuza vs. Mafia. I almost killed his face.

I absolutely love this show - like, if you couldn't tell from the face-killing comment.

Anyway, I think it's actually a really good show - only problem that really presents itself are with groups like Ninjas who were much more prone to killing you while you slept as opposed to getting into a head-on fight.

Tux - That's cool. You're entitled to your opinion.

ThrasherCub - Ah, that was actually a sweet episode. However, so far my favorite is the most recent one between the Shaolin Monk VS. Maorie Warrior. Those islanders are absolutely terrifying when they do that dance thing before the battle to get themselves pumped up, lol.

We don't get it in NZ. And the websites that host the episodes for free don't show it to non-US or non-Canadians. :<

New Zealander? Bummer, they just did one for the Maori vs Shoalin monks. It was pretty cool to see the break down and as much as I like the Maori culture it was actually nice to see the level headed monks win. Basically showing that brains before brawn can work in a fighting sense.

This is why you need to love with me, grannyhast.

That was one of the things I was concerned about when the show first started - in the commercials you see them testing all sorts of stuff like how strong the armor is and how completely a sword can cut through a pig (which I NEVER tire of watching, BTW), but will they take into account all the other factors of a fight? And if so, how? Things like helmets limiting vision or a lack of level-headed thinking can play at least as big a part in a fight as strength and weaponry.

Thankfully they seem to have done a pretty good job measuring and including those. Still disappointed about the Ninja vs Spartan though.

They do bring in experts on the style of fighting so the temperament/personality does get taken into account. They also have the physic of how things work. Like would a massive club being wielded by a 5' but muscular guy bring as great a blow as say someone working a slingshot.

I think the results are actually pretty surprising each time. Like the last one, they had the Maori really leading things for a long time because he could bring about more mortal damage but the monk had agility and speed on his side. Also helped to have less primitive weaponry.

I missed the last two! Which was disapointing because I really wanted to see the Green Berets and the Spetsnaz.

I like the show. While sometimes I think the tests should be done a little more uniformly (they did this good when testing the cutlass and the broadsword in the Pirates vs. Knights Episode), it generally seems to really break down the different advantages. Of course I'm not sure that they can take into account things like limited vision, it sort of depends on the program they're using I think.

I definitely think the Mafia and the Yakuza was my favorite episode. I figured the Mafia would win, of course, but it was so fun to watch. The fact that they had Mafia and Yakuza descendants was particularly interesting (just me or did the Yakuza expert seem a little too ready to go after the Mafia one?). The episode demonstrates that practicality and brutality are more important in a fight than finesse.

The only thing I would've liked to see changed was the Yakuza using the katana instead of nunchaku. Of course they might not wanted to have used that because the samurai used it and the mafia was using a blunt weapon.

Still, great show.

The logo bears more than a passing resemblance to a swastika. It also has a Spartan helmet in the middle of it. I have a bias against Spike to the point where when it was running its "get more chick-ugh-boom" adverts I'd go "BANG-MOAR-CHICKS". I've come to think of it as "the penis channel". So yeah, admittedly, it takes a lot for a Spike project to win me over. The Kill Point succeeded, because I actually watched it. As I recall, the focus of its ads was John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg's awesomeness and not the kind of logo that would've had my graphic design instructors strongly suggest cultural sensitivity training and possibly even psychological counseling.

Despite it being "the penis network" something about this show is really interesting. Being one of the ones with a vagina (and over abundantly functioning ovaries) in the "room", I even enjoy watching it. Although to some extent I should admit that is because some of the men are attractive and I am capable of having a one track mind sometimes.

Something about the content though (hot muscular men aside) is just well done. It's not too "fact" heavy like the shows on discovery or other science networks when they do the "Physics of Bruce Lee" or whatever. But it's also not overwhelming testosterone where you're watching a battle go on mindlessly. It's actually nice to see the "experts" having the conversation and on the spot problem solving for each scenario given.

Like right now I'm watching Viking versus Samurai. The experts for Samurai were getting really really cocky about the katana and instantly the Viking's know the mesh suits they use could and did stop the katana from doing any damage.

I also like the gore, I can't help myself but I do. The special touches of having jelly bodies where you can see skeletal and organ damage really holds my attention.

I too am watching the marathon while working on one of my finals for my economic theory class. Ah, yes, there's nothing that a barrage of violence and action.

How wonderful it is to be full of testosterone. ;)

I wasn't surprised that the Viking fell to his opponent. Vikings, I'm sure, had more training and less mindless violence than what was portrayed, but Samurai's would be tough to beat. The helmet actually deflecting the blade! My eyes widened.

Indeed. Sadly, it seems that the marathon has ended. :(

But, that's okay. I'm anxious for the new one to come on Tuesday night featuring William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu.

Even though I like William Wallace a lot. I'm thinking Shaka Zulu is going to take it. He was intense.

I'm gonna toss that one to Shaka Zulu. I also await the show to see who comes out on top.

I'm not too sure if I can call this one. I say this because it seems that when you have weapons that aren't as up to date as the opponent, that things tend to swing in their favor.

So, I mean, a claymore vs. a pointed stick. However, I will agree that Shaka Zulu did seem much more intense.

Indeed it does and to add on to your reply, starting at 1 PM all the way up till the new episode (IRA Vs. Taliban) there will be a Deadliest Warrior marathon on Spike TV on Sunday (not Tuesday).

Anybody have predictions? So far I've only been wrong once (Ninjas lost to the Spartans but I'll get over it).

I think I'm in favor of the IRA for this one.

I'm going to have to go with the IRA as well. My reason being that I just plain don't like the Taliban. :D

All in all, this shall be a great episode much like the rest of them.

*contains spoiler*

My pick is the IRA as well though. It was one thing to have the Green Beret lose, but I don't think an American audience is going to be satisfied to see the Taliban win anything.

I know - seems kind of pre-biased, doesn't it? This is like the violent version of a feel-good film.

Maybe the Taliban will just suicide bomb the IRA and we'll get a tie :D

It may seem like that, but then again, we just don't know. Then again, this IS the season finale, so why not go out with something memorable?

If you have the Taliban in the season finale you have to go out with a BANG!

So the season finale has come and gone. The IRA won! What did you all think about this? Did you guess right?

...I did...;)
