What is the best food in the world and why? Is it delicious Italian food? Is it Japan's edible art form, sushi? Or are you sick of all that fancy foreign crap and just want good ol' American food - meat, potatoes, and fat?
What region is your favorite kind of food from, where is it from specifically, and why is it the best in the world?
My vote goes to Africa.
Specifically, to Eritrea. Eritrea has simply the most delicious spices in the world. I'm particularly fond of Doro Alicha - incredibly tender chicken stewed in a mild curry and the most delicious seasoned butter ever, and Birsin, a mash of split lentils made with many of the same amazing spices as the Doro.

I have to say that the food from Asia (besides Indian) is the best I've ever had. Spicy, salty, and full of flavor.
Mmmm...
Hot and sour soup is my favorite dish of all time.

France. After several food days in French class I am convinced.

I'm really, really tied by Chinese American and Italian. Both can be so bad for you, but both taste SO AWESOME when done right.

Asian food is awesome, specifically Japanese food. It's less fryed than chinese food. Thne there's Italian food which is probably the best comfort food ever! Hot garlic bread and spaghetti with tomato sauce that your mom makes just right, mmmm...

Italian surprise surprise. I have yet to taste any other culture's food (tried about seven different cultures food from authentic Chinese to authentic German) that really perks my taste buds.

Asian, specifically Indian. There's an awesome restaurant nearby that completely changed my outlook on Indian food. Damn this is a really bad topic to post in when I'm hungry...

Gramma food wins hands down.
I don't have grandmothers anymore but their food was awesome and every time I hang with someone else's gramma who is the traditional "good ole girl type" the food is so warm and yummy.
In general I love food. I can't say that one ethnicity of food is really superior over the other. One culture could have a dish that so delicious but the rest of it is meh.

You a fan of chai tea? If you are, I'd suggest looking up "Oregon Chai." It's this nifty powdered just-add-water stuff that actually tastes amazing. It comes in at least three varieties, all of which are made of pure and creamy win - original, vanilla (good dessert tea), and spiced (good for waking up in the morning).
UNO, try some African food! Ethiopia and Eritrea are famous for having amazing spices and butters. Though you might not find them to be as great as Italian, I promise that it'll perk your taste buds!

My grandma only cooked for me once. She burned me a hotdog. She also leaves her mayo out sitting on the counter (but puts the bread in the fridge - WTF?)

I toss in my vote with GB. Asia has some of the finest cuisine I've dug my chompers into.

I totally knew someone was going to come up with the horrible cook Gramma. I have nothing to add to that only to say I know those exist too :p
My Great Grandmother actually was pretty bad (age was not a factor) she eventually just gave up and would give us bologna sammiches.

It depends on what the dish is, moreso than where it's from for me. Though, recently, my love has been Mediterranean inspired food.... mmmm....

I'm with all the ones who say Grandma. My grandma is an amazing cook (even though she hates cooking).

My 2 favorite countries for food are right here in the USA (I love burgers, steaks, other meats that aren't cats or dogs)
And I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Japanese food, I know they don't cook hibace in Japan, but I love it here
I don't remember what show it was, but there was a Mexican guy cooking hibace, it was funny

I like a lot of "foreign" food, but as I learn more about it, most of that is really American.
Almost all "Italian" food you find in the US was really developed here. Same with a lot of "Chinese" food.
So I have to vote for North America.

I am an all American guy I guess. Steak, cheeseburgers and BBQ ribs are my usual pick, I have never really liked any ethnic food I have tried.

Hailing from a multiracial background, I would have to go with the most prominent ethnicity that resides within me. Hispanic. So, as you can imagine I have a DEEP love for latin dishes. To me, it's simply some of the most flavorful food to have ever graced my taste buds.

I voted "Europe", but then I remember, my dad is the best chef EVAR. No questions asked. He is, hands down, the best chef I have ever met. His food tastes good, and I don't just mean baked goods, I mean anything you can think of. :9
I think sometimes you are in a mood for foreign food, but I'm always in the mood for American!

to me, the best food comes from my mum's kitchen :D
apart from that, i like food from the Middle East, Indian and some Italian....but i will say, try the Arab food, it's really good given that you don't mind non-veg...

Each country produces great food. But I have to say I like middle eastern dishes when they are done properly.
