Any folks playing this? I just got my key and downloaded the client (holy crap 5+ gigs!) but I haven't played yet.

But now I can pilot my very own starship...

I haven't played it myself, but a friend said it suffers from the same thing a lot of Cryptic games suffer from. Great character customization but increasingly thin gameplay. He says you pretty much just end up shooting things over and over, and the combat's not particularly dynamic.

But like I said, I haven't played it myself. I'll wait for the Mac version...

Yeah in all honesty, I don't think it's a very good game. CoX and CO do a better job of it within their intended framework. Plus it's still buggy as hell. The ship combat is pretty fun though.

It also just kinda bugs me to see folks with names like Captain SuxDix of the USS \/LOLBoobs\/. I'm not sure what these people are doing in a Star Trek MMO.
