Hey Uno...

New Moon is going to be released Nov. 20th 2009. The teaser trailer was awesome...

Also, Freeborn hasn't been made yet, and apparently since Anthony Brownrigg has been silent on the whole project, it might not get made for a long long time.

I can't speak for a lot of them because truth be told I am not a big horror/werewolf fan, but Kibakichi Bakko Vokaiden needs to be removed from the list. That was a crap movie and me letting my beard grow in and my hair crazy the way it is is a better candidate for a werewolf then the way those idiots dressed. No offense.

Uno was just listing werewolf films. If she was going to only list the quality ones, there might only be five or six.

Freeborn's status is officially on hiatus. I help partly moderate (yes...it is scary isn't it.) The Pack, of which was a site created in response to Freeborn. It was started by Anthony Brownrigg. Anthony moved from Texas to LA almost a year ago, but hasn't shed any new light on the project... He hasn't canned it, but he hasn't given us any new info.

You also need to include, "Guardians of Luna" as an entry on the list.

Cybergraphix is very close to getting the project moving forward. It's producer is a very good friend of mine. It will be awesome.

I also hope to someday add my own entry to the genre on that list of yours... Getting closer and closer... :beerchug:

I actually have this list (with the exception of a few) in this little journal I keep of movies and books I would like to acquire so it was just comparing it to the Wiki site I listed and adding what was missing.....about 6 minutes :)

I personally can't wait for New Moon to come out. Did you guys see Twilight? It was good but the special effects were lame.

Or...Have you seen blood & chocolate? I read the book but never saw the movie...it looked lame.

I'm not crazy about the computer graphics for the werewolf in New moon but I am excited for the werewolf aspect none the less :) Blood and Chocolate the movie is different from the book. If you go in with that mind set you shouldn't be too disappointed. The effects in Blood and Chocolate were a lot better than Twilight.

I've seen quite a few werewolf movies and each time I see them I am very dissappointed. This one called Ginger Snaps Back, the werewolves looked like puppets on a stick being pulled in and out of the shadows. It was good for a laugh though.

the Ginger Snaps are alright I guess, but if you are looking for good quality werewolf films outside of American werewolf in London and the first and fifth Howling, good luck

If possible i'd like to point out that shape shifters are not werewolves, thusly any of the twilight stuff can't be included. Also if its being debated I recall someone telling me that Edward in it mentions that somewhere

Technically speaking shape shifters, if they turn into a wolf, are indeed a werewolf. The simple definition of a werewolf is a man or woman who turns into a wolf. Shapeshifter lore might devulge a bit from European werewolf lore, but again... a werewolf is a werewolf.

Remember... Stephenie Meyer did not invent werewolves and shapeshifters. While she did include a bit of Quiluete lore, she is not an expert of their beliefs, nor does she pretend to be. In short, just because it is in Twilight... doesn't mean it is real.

I know Im not a fan of the series at all, for the simple bastardizing of vampires as a whole. The wolves in her books and movies it seems literally shape-shift into wolves though not a man type combination. And I know werewolves are those who contract lycanthropy such as the ones from Underworld and many others. the first werewolf I ever saw was Lon Chaney's Wolf Man so thats my understanding and how I've seen it for years.

If i'm misunderstanding things then I apologize

Well... in terms of werewolf mythology, the "infection" variant is relatively new. In truth, it wasn't until the early 20th century with the advent of "Werewolf of London" and the popular, "The Wolf Man", that the bipedal version of the werewolf took hold. The old lore never depicts a hybrid version of the werewolf, it is always a really large wolf. Early silent films often used wolf/dog hybrids to play the part of the werewolf, or in some cases German Shepherds. Traditionally speaking, Stephenie Meyer is closer to the actual werewolf folklore. Stephenie's werewolves would fall under the catagory of "Unconstitutional werewolf" or a werewolf who can willfully take the form of the wolf when he or she chooses, such as the 12th century Bisclavret. The "Constitutional werewolf" is the werewolf that is either cursed (via magic) or as in modern werewolf films, bitten, and forced to become the beast against their will.

I have two theories... A. Hollywood is not only run by Jews, but they are all werewolves, and B. Because they make money... and Hollywood is ALL about making money.

Hey welcome back Punisher!... The guide is pretty good, but alas due to the nature of the material presented it is quite out of date. Hopefully the company who produced it will provide an updated version.

Brad Steiger is planning to update his "Werewolf Book: Encyclopedia of Shapeshifting Beings" in the near future, as it too is out of date... darn the march of progress...

Thanks for the welcome. I also heard that Steiger was planning on updating his book. I heard that Jamie Hall's Half Human, Half Animal was getting an update as well. The last time I talked to Stephen Jones, he seemed more interested in doing a book about zombie movies, but that might have changed.

Yup... within the next year or so, Brad will be updating his werewolf book. He's a good friend of mine, and HOPES that one of my own werewolf related projects will be completed or at least started by then, so he can interview me. :D Sounds sort of cool... really... I hope I can participate.
