I saw this on some other forums, and it looks like it could be fun. The game is based off the TV show Survivor. I'm still brainstorming on how it would work, but I wanted to see how many people would consider signing up if there were a game.

The basics: If enough people sign up, I'll divide the players into teams. If there are less than, say, 8 players, then I'll scrap the team idea and it will be every player for himself.

Each team will elect a leader, who will coordinate the team and submit any team entries.

At the beginning of each round, I will announce a challenge that each team will complete. It could be things like word games, drawing challenges, or riddles. I'm trying to come up with some challenges that Google wouldn't be able to ruin. If anyone has ideas, feel free to post them here or PM me.

I'm still deciding whether each player will be able to submit an entry to me or if the team leader will choose the best entry to submit. But either way, entries will be submitted.

The winning team will be selected. This could be done through a separate voting thread or I could pick. The winning team gets immunity, which means no one from their team can be voted off. The members of the losing team will vote for who be kicked out of the game.

Once there are only 4 or 5 players left, the teams will merge and it will be every player for himself. The player who wins each challenge will be granted immunity, while the losing players will have to vote one person off the island.

When there are 2 players left, all the players who were previously kicked off the island will vote for the winning player.

---------

Let's not make this a popularity contest.

If someone is not playing, they will automatically be kicked off the island.

If the team leader is voted off, the team will vote for a new leader.

When it comes to voting people off, anything goes. Plead your case, throw your buddy under the bus, whatever. Just no flaming or you'll get a warning. If it keeps happening, you'll be kicked off the island.

----------

Any and all ideas, opinions, and comments are welcome. My feelers won't get hurt, I promise.

So, does this sound fun to you?

Toward that end, the reason challenges work in the show is because they're performed "live," so to speak. It's always "do this now" rather than "find me the answer later."

So perhaps some challenges could be live in IRC?

If you want to do some kind of trivia contest, once you determine a question/answer, use google and wikipedia and anything else you can to try to track down the answer. If you can't, chances are low that someone else could, too.

I will play along

Also as far as trivia goes we can use my irc trivia bot for a challenge if you want. It would also be a good way to bring more members to chat.

Chat is an excellent idea, and your trivia bot is fun, west. Plus it's impossible to look up the answers fast enough. Though it could be hard to get everyone in chat at the same time. Maybe for those challenges, each team would select a couple of people who would be able to be in chat at the same time?

My only concern if I were to sign up is the drawing part. I don't have a scanner to submit anything.

That's a good point, not everyone will have a scanner/digital camera. We could use that Sumo painting thing that Morg posted before (in the art forum I think). Or just scrap the idea.

Does paint come standard for most computer types? If it does, we could have a paint contest instead! Sort of like who can create the best picture using only paint? :)

*smacks forehead* I do have a digital camera. I supposed I could use that to try to take pictures of art.

Do Macs come with Paint? I thought it was just a Windows thing, but I could be wrong. Although, they probably come with a similar software.

I have ideas for 9-10 challenges, which is enough for 9-10 people to sign up. I'm thinking of posting sign-ups in the next week or so. Hopefully nothing dreadful will happen to me since I'm not running a weregame (just something similar). :p

Does anyone have opinions on how to decide on the winners of each challenge? Right now I'm leaning towards me deciding, just to save time. Posting a poll and leaving it open for a few days could make this game pretty long.

It doesn't come installed, but you can download PaintBrush (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/imaging_3d/paintbrush.html) for free for Mac.
