(OOC:This is an oldy I dragged from the pit with a few touch ups and mods so enjoy a classic)

The dragon, the greatest creature in existence given the power to rule yet holding the wisdom not to, these majestic, and sometime terrifying, none can deny this. Throughout history men have tried to harness the power of dragons, failing with every attempt. These failures fuelled an ancient rage, no single man can hope to bring down any dragon no matter how skilled, but when they gather and build their tools and traps things tend to level out, and so war began the Dragons finally seeing men as a threat, but wishing to bring about a peaceful end, while humans wished only to subjugate the dragon or to destroy them as long as one of these were fulfilled the humans would be content.

The City of Stone Algard the capital of humanity churned out armies by the thousands with devices of destruction, and creatures they’ve enslaved sending them to ‘slay’ the dragons, and it seemed they were successful for years they warred, and the Dragons falling to sheer numbers, forced to fight through trickery, and use of the dreaded Wyvern riders. The Wyvern was a distant relative of the dragon, though it’s form, and traits are akin to their more powerful brethren, they are mindless beasts in comparison, and much smaller, pack animals swarming a single dragon until it hit the ground dead. They seemed all but extinct, but they merely hid away, gathering their strongest, and breeding a new weapon of their own. To fight humans one would have to understand how they fight, so human children were taken at infancy, and the dragons poured some of themselves into these children, these half breeds, were simply called the Wingless appearing human for most part while their bodies bore the scales of their adoptive parent, these scales outlining their features, few with horns, others retaining their dragon like eyes, but all possessing abilities beyond human, they were the best of both, and they would turn the tide as new dragons were brought into the world, the Wingless would ride into battle upon the backs of their brothers, and sisters, and burn legions to ash.

But that was so many years ago, and many of the old hatreds have died and the Dragons have been left to their toils and the Wingless never saw the wars foretold by the Stone Dragon himself
an unsteady peace swept through the lands as humans no longer feared them as demons, for demons were something very different. Word of the Wingless burned in the ears of every man woman and child though thier nature was never revealed humans and their curiosities sprang forth and many of the Wingless without a Winged brother or sister were given the freedom to roam among the humans. So the stories of these half-dragons brewed among humans in fame and infamy it wasn’t until a message arrived at Nommolis did the dragons take pause.

And that is where this epic tale begins
************************************************** *******
Okyday I’m bored I got dragons on the brain, so here we are, rules first play later

1.obey forum rules(not like I need to say it but I’ll say it anyways)
2. No dragons like Bahamut off of final fantasy so I don’t want to see an army disappear, in a single breath attack kay.
3. the biggest dragon is only the size of a charter bus so no dinosaurs(aka 100ft tall/long)
4.if you choose to be a human you stay human, no magical transformations into a halfbreed (wingless in dragon terms)
5.No magic save for dragon breath and no the halfbreed’s do not have breath attacks.
6.Don’t expect me to lead you round by the hand, this is a LARP you’ve got a choice, we’re not going all out war right off the hop the wingless gotta learn about worldly cultures and warfare an stuff.
7.the tech level is up there with catapults balista, and dragon riders you can figure that out I hope, I’d be kinda disappointed otherwise.
8.Most Wingless aren’t bonded with a dragon, a ‘brother’ or ‘sister’ those that are rarely leave dragon territory and usually serve in the heirarchy meaning doing anything the Elders request of them and there are some wingless Elders aswell.
9.All Wingless have hand some form of combat training, dragons don't trust most species so they make sure their children are prepared for them, so no need saying that your character is 33rd level Wushu master of Tiger fang style okyday.
So enough of what you can’t do here’s some stuff you can do,
Wingless have all the advantages a dragon does except for the breath and the flying meaning think half way between a dragon and a human and you get the just of their abilities but depends on their blood, all wingless are born human then made into Wingless different bloodlines mean different looks and strengths, look at my character below for example half black dragon, powerful but lazy. And if ya don’t know a damn thing about dragons, either ask or make something up that makes sense and is within the rules.

Feel free to draw your own dragon(if you’re the Artsy type) or google a pic of one (if you’re lazy or can’t draw worth a F#$@.... like me, on both accounts) but I suggest you find a pic cause it’s so much easier than explaining it, cause I know I find it hard to describe a dragon some days and still I get ‘huh?’ from some people.

IF you want a land, or sea dragon and not the standard winged type feel free, but leave nessy alone she’s had a hard day scarin the piss out of the scottish :)

And your dragon is a character all it’s own so it will have a personality and so on.

This is startin off as a simple fact finding mission once we get all situated, someone will go oops and and a whole lotta dying is expected but I wanna suprise people so for you blood thirsty buggers have at her but wait for my que thankya very much, and if you want to branch off with your own story line, wrought with drama, suspense and all that good stuff you’re more than welcome, be creative, I aint a nazi when it comes to this stuff.

Name: Sol (pronouced Sall if you’re wondering:) )
Sex:Male
Age:19
Build:Athletic

Dragon:Revel(real name can’t be properly pronounced by the human tongue)

Appearance:Sol is a dark haired young man with a pair of blue reptilian eyes, and starting behind his ears, and along his jawline are black scales, which lead from there down his back, running along his spine where prominent ridges can be seen protruding from his back, he remains shirtless, wearing fingerless gloves, and worn brown leather pants and belted boots.

Revel-see link here (http://featherdust.critter.net/digitalcompletehtml/images/Red%20Dragon.jpg)
Weapon- Sol uses a simple spear, an extremely sharp tip while the shaft it made from cast iron making it very heavy for a spear, due to it’s weight most humans couldn’t wield it as well as him. Revel uses claws, teeth, and fireballs/breath.

Skills/abilities:As part black dragon he has excellent sight in the dark(daylight impairs his vision just below human standards, but his hearing and sense of smell are his greatest traits, but on the downside he's sensitive to the light and enjoys his sleep much more than he should. He is an excellent cook, some say it's because of his senses that he can find pick and hunt the best of ingrediants others would say it's a talent.

Personality- Sol is quiet, kind, and reserved, calmly eyeing the situation before moving in to do anything often clashing with Revel’s brash descisions, and sarcastic demeanor, preferring the burnfirst ask questions later approach. Regardless of their differences they are close to one another considering each other as true brothers, both are well liked by the other Wingless, and Dragons.

Bio-Sol hasn’t much of a past to speak of and being a black dragon wingless he garners more than his fair share of attention in the dragon city Noumolis, Revel on the other hand has always had a history of getting into trouble, and being 146 years old it’s expected, because he is still considered a adolescent by dragon standards. Revel has made a meal of many a scouting party that dared to get too close. Or merely crossed his path.
************************************************** *************************

“So what’s all this hub bub about a trip anyway?” Revel stalked back, and forth infront of Sol who merely leaned back calmly with a smile on his face.

“You excite to easily they probably just want us to go gather food again.” Sol closed his eyes trying to catch a few minutes of shut eye, before any work was given. Revel quietly pacing, and leaned downward as close to Sol as possible without him noticing before blasting him with a little hot air. “Hey!” Sol reacted trying to push Revel away, in vain.

“You should sleep at night, and not during the day. Besides we’re not the only ones the elders told to wait out here, but I’d wish they wouldn’t make us wait so long, it’s boring.” Sol opened his eyes as Revel pulled back and resumed pacing.

“Just stay here, be patient, it’ not like we’re going to war.” Sol stated before closing his eyes again.

(OOC: okay now we wait for others to join, after this point feel free to wander or follow whatever suit you)

Name: Fryze (pronounced Freeze)
Sex: Male
Age: 20
Build: Slender

Dragon: Blyzzera (http://featherdust.critter.net/fantasyindex/pages/Sword%20of%20the%20Dragon%20Book%20Cover%20-%20Digital.html)
Sex: Female
Age:153
Length: 25 (feet from snout to end of tail)

Appearance: Fryze tends to stick out in a crowd, due to his glittering white scales, his long white braid, his pinkish eyes, the ridges that run horizontally across the sides of his neck (gills), and the long fin-like ridges running the lengths of his arms and his back. He keeps the ridges flattened at most times to accommodate his clothes, which consist of a black cloak, gray tunic, black fingerless leather guantlets, black leather pants, and black iron grieves.

Weapon: Fryze carries a hand-and-a-half sword of steel adorned with a crystal embedded in the pommel. While it is heavy, he can wield it with an acrobatic flair. Blyzzera relies on tooth, claw, and icy breath attacks when fighting.

Skills/Abilities: Part white dragon, Fryze is a skilled swimmer, able to swim fast and breathe through the gills that his dragon side provided him. He can resist extreme cold and pressure, but his resistance to fire and heat is very low. He has excellent eyesight during the day, accustomed to the blinding effects of sunlight reflected by snow and ice. He is also a skilled fighter, using the light weight of his body, his long reach, and speed to his advantage, though he can be slowed down considerably in warmer climates.

Personality: Fryze tends to be colder (pun intended) than most Wingless when making decisions. He approaches most areas of human life with a cool (pun again intended) demeanor and calculating analysis. Blyzzera, on the other hand, approaches each new experience with child-like curiosity, oft leaping before she thinks to look.

Bio: Fyrze spent most of his life going from mountian summit to tundra to glacier to icy ocean, learning what he could from various teachers alongside Blyzzera. They recently returned from researching airborne battle techniques in the mountian city of Cealdolis. They are well thought of by the Elders of their kinds, thanks to their unquenchable thirst for knowledge and are usually a welcome sight in Noumolis.

************************************************** ***************

Fryze gripped Blyzzera's sides with his knees and grabbed hold of a spike that protuded from her back just in front of his seat as she tucked her wings into her sides and dove out of the sky and down toward Noumolis. Blyzzera's wide maw opened in a sharp toothed grin as she plummeted toward the ground. Fryze maintained an unamused expression as they fell from the great blue yonder. As they neared the ground, Blyzzera's wings opened and she slowed her descent landing softly on the rocks. Fryze hopped from her back and they started walking side-by-side through the dragon city.

Blyzzera nodded to those that they passed, while Fryze's nose was buried in a leather-bound tome. She occasionally had to steer him in the right direction as they proceeded to they place where the Elders had told the Wingless and their dragon counterparts to wait. In time, they made it to the meeting place, finding Sol and Revel already waiting. Fryze dropped down on top of a rock and continued to read. Blyzzera sat on her haunches and breathed twin jets of cold air from her nostrils.

"How long have you been waiting?" she asked Revel, clawing at the rocks with her front talons.

Revel, sighed with a long plume of smoke slipping between his teeth "Too long, but that's just me, saw you still carry that chip on your shoulder," Aiming his gaze at the silent Fryze "then again it's not much better than dealing with the lump I've usually got on my back." Revel turned that same gaze to Sol who still tried to get in a few more winks before they had to leave.

"This lump makes one hell of a spit roast, don't forget that." Sol fired back lazily, Revel stopped to think of that roast venison Sol cooked up not more than a week ago.

"Point taken...So anything interesting happen lately all I've gotten lately are deliveries."

"That's because the last 'important' mission they sent us on went up in flames...your's if I'm not mistaken." Sol pointed out yet again.

"I haven't really seen anything interesting going on in the world," Blyzzera said. "Then again, Fryze doesn't really like going where things are interesting. For some reason, he's not that connected with his human side."

"Of course not," Fryze said. "I've read history books. They always act on their destructive impulses without regard to the other creatures they share this world with. Besides, humans are boring and overdramatic."

He closed his book after marking the page and looked over to Sol.

"Spit roast, huh?" he said. "I haven't had a good meal in a long time...at least, not a cooked meal."

Name: Leonore
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Build: Toned

Dragon: Alric
Sex: Male
Age: 236
Langth: 29 feet

Appearance: Leonore stands about five and a half feet tall, her raven hair flowing like silk down to the small of her back and her spring sky blue eyes sparkling with ever-present mischief. The pupils of these eyes are slitted, like a dragon's, and the flesh of her body was not exactly scales, but a tougher hide than humans, and it bore a soft pale translucent green tint to it.

Alric is a green dragon, his malachite scales sparkled in any light and his glittering golden eyes entrancing those who caught their cool, wise gaze. Spikes and horns adorned his heavy head and his leathery wings were a sight to behold, the small ridges along his spine stopped at his tail, leaving it long and smooth. http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/4100000/Green-Dragon-dragons-4146723-1024-768.jpg

Weapon: Leonore carries a katana on her waist, the sheath and hilt decorated green, and a quiver of arrows and a bow across her back. Skilled in both weapons, she is quite an adept fighter...Alric would have no less.

Skills/Abilities: Leonore is lithe and speedy; speed and strength are her strong points. Her night vision is as perfect as her daylight vision, she is as good a spy as an assassin.

Personality: Leonore is curious about the rest of the world, and defiant to a fault of her dragon "parent", Alric. She seems out to cause mischief and give him a bigger headache than yesterday, something he admonishes her for, not that is does him any good. For the most part, the Wingless girl is friendly, but can easily slip into her trained role as ruthless killer if irritated.

Bio: Alric raised the girl, gifting her with himself and his powers as a dragon, as is to this day unsure as to why she isn't as calm and collected as he is...perhaps it was her age. He also made sure she was trained in not only her natural abilities but the other chosen forms of combat. He has kept her within dragon territories, but lately, she has been running off all the farther, into more dangerous places. If he spent a night not dreaming of the trouble his little Wingless child could get into, it was a peaceful slumber indeed.

-----------------------

Leonore rolled her shoulders as she slipped through the city without her "father" yet again. She just loved to rile the hell out of the overgrown bat. But, today, she'd been told of something of some importance, she hadn't been paying much attention.

She soon came upon two other Wingless waiting there, and their dragons as well...knowing hers would show up shortly, she strolled up to the small gathering, keeping a few feet of distance, and smiled at them all.

Revel twisted to see the new arrival his face growing into a wide grin "Well if it isn't mischief incarnate!" He greeted her as an old friend would he remembered her and the trouble she used to cause that insufferable old sack of scales that followed her.

Sol still trying to sleep merely waved blindly "Leonore I assume, few people get that kind of greeting from Revel." It was then an Elder Wingless approached them, Sol could smell him, dust and books typical for someone pushing 400plus years.

"Is everyone here?" He looked about curiously as if expecting more than what he saw.

Leonore laughed lightly at the greeting, then the question.

"Oh, everyone will be here shortly..." She said, and as if on cue, Alric stomped into view, snorting smoke from his nostrils and growling deep in his chest.

"How many times, girl?! How many heart attacks, how many sleepless nights, how many headaches do you plan to give me in my lifetime?" He snarled down at her, putting his long spiked snout inches from her grinning face.

"At least one a day, Father." She laughed. He snorted, blowing her long hair out behind her, then straightened up with a heavy sigh. He then nodded to Revel and Blyzzera.

"I apologize for that outburst...but my little Wingless seems hellbent on causing me nothing but grief..."

Name: Terim
Sex:Male
Age:26
Height:5'8"
Build:Athletic

Dragon:Talin
Age: 246
Type: Kashar

Appearance:Terim stands fairly lithe for a man of his size, but he picks up his strength and senses from his patron. He has white hair naturally but it has been know to shift from time to time. His eyes shift between and almost white blue to a deep and vibrant azure. He wears looser fitting black clothing to cover up his pale skin and pay homage to his patron. All of his human features are actually a mimicry of the real thing. They are actually tiny scales or scale like material.

Talin- See here. (http://th07.deviantart.net/fs10/300W/f/2006/325/6/2/king_black_dragon_by_Midnight_Lonesome.jpg) He's half the size of a standard dragon. He looks like a miniature black dragon, yet his scales shimmer like glass or a mirror-like finish in the light. Depending on what state he is in it can appear as a standard arrangement of scales, thick plate-like ridges, or almost as smooth as a maiden's skin.

Weapon- Terim prefers weaponry that covers him all around. He prefers an iron staff which he swings around with crushing efficiency or a pair of short swords wields in each hand. Talin uses only claws and teeth, lacking any breath weapon of his own.

Skills/abilities:As a wingless, Terim calls upon the strength and senses of his dragon blood. The gift of his patron has also covered him in scales, ones so small and fine they resemble human skin. Even his hair is made of the same scale material. As one of the Kashar he can alter these scales at will. Hi skin can adopt the complex patterns and texturing of his environment. They can harden into dark plate-like structures that give him a potent natural armor but reduce his speed. He can even adopt similar appearance to people around him, but the features aren't usually exact. The alteration of his scales takes several minutes of concentration, faster than the dragons he gets this gift from but still not very adequate in a pinch situation.

Talin shared the ability to alter his scales. When they are very small, Talin can moves extremely quickly and can pattern his skin to be like rocky crags with tufts of moss on it to tree bark, to the pattern resembling another dragon. At other times he can shift them to hardened plates that weigh him down but make him extremely durable in a close hand fight. Unlike Kashar Wingless it takes him almost an hour to change his pattern.

Kashar blood gift-drinking the blood of other dragons, the Kashar can make their scale patterning ability instant. It acts almost like a fuel for the change. However, it has the unintended effect of occasionally causing them to lose their identity or go berzerk. Terim gets an additional bonus from the gift. It makes his patterning of other humans exact, even allowing him to expand and contract tissue to change height or or size within limited narrow parameters.

Personality-Both Talin and Terim are very analytical. Terim sort of sits there and lackadaisically lets everything in. If he gets bored or annoyed he sometimes becomes child-like. Talin is more high strung focusing in on a narrow point to something specific. Sometimes this brings him across as rather harsh.

Bio-Terim grew up in the lands of the Kashar bordering very close to the human kingdoms. He was raised by Talin who intructed him in human habits and combat. The Kashar, more than any other dragon race, are able to observe human kind very closely and see much of the inner workings. This is perhaps the only reason they aren't either completely exiled or exterminated. They practice with their blood gift regularly to be able to shift at a moments notice. Sometimes they go berzerk due to this practice. I, no Kashar is permitted near the Capitol and they aren't tolerated very well in other parts of the land. If they were to cold stop drinking blood, they go berzerk the minute their blood fuel runs out. Wingless seem even more susceptible to the berzerk state. One even thought he was a dragonslayer during an infiltration into the humans. For the massacre that ensued from this and other such reasons, the Kashar were forbidden from making more Wingless. Talin broke this rule and is now summoned to the Capitol for judgement.

Terim sat in the cradle upon Talin's back, both of them had adopted the pale blue hue of the open sky around them. He shifted around in the cradle restless from the long trip. "Why again are going to the city? Oh that's right you have some suicidal deathwish and you're dragging me into it."

"Quiet, Terim. I've had to listen to you long enough on this trip. We are almost there." Talin swooped in to the reception chamber. There were other dragons and Wingless there. Something was definitely happening, but they both were there for judgement first and foremost.

The Elder was already there waiting for them, a Wingless by the human shape.

"Ah, the Kashar are finally here. And here I thought you were going to grace us with your absence."

"Greetings, Elder. I do pray there is more to this inconvenience than just staying our executions.

"Wait a minute, you never said they might...

"Silence, whelp. You are in the presence of an Elder. He has been kind enough to grant you the opportunity to prove your existence worthwhile. Now pay him the proper respects."

Terim shut his mouth and hopped down off Talin. He bowed low before the Elder before rising. "I ask forgivness for my insolence, Elder."

The elder stared eye to eye with Terim but turned his head back toward Talin.

"I hope your whelp proves better in action than in his words. Now Talin, pleas show me that my judgement is not in ere."

"Yes, Elder. You know very well the abilities of a Kashar dragon. Our Wingless share the same abilities. They also have one advantage that they do not share." Terim took his claw and slashed into the scales of his foreleg. He held the dripping appendage above Talin.

Talin, used to this in practice, took a single drop into his mouth. He kind of glance around the room not looking at anything in particular. Then he looks back at the Elder and he starts to change His hair lengthens and takes on a raven black hue. His muscles tremble and his joints pop out of their sockets, causing him to shrink two inches in height. He opens his mouth and it too dislocates and resets itself. His scales stiffen and enlarge around his chest region. All his skin takes on a pale green hugh. His eyes become slits. When it all stops Terim looks like the female Wingless, yet the eye spacing isn't quite right, the height is off, and the chin isn't the exact shape. Terim holds this shape for a few seconds before the discomfort of squeezing all of him into an even smaller space was getting to him. With many pops he returned to the shape he held before.

"With the blood of an individual, he can look exactly like them and even move in that shape. Only for hhow long his blood-fuel holds out; then he reverts back to himself."

The Elder's eyebrows rose. "Impressive." He started walking around Terim like he was studying an insect.

Terim's skin took on the hugh and textures of the floor and wall. The Elder stopped, momentarily startled by the sudden change. As he continued to walk he passed by a shadow. Terim's skin changed to match the shade exactly from the Elder's perspective. Suddenly and violently Terim's skin returned to a human-like state and he fell over panting.

"He only had a single drop of blood, Excellence. He would need more to continue."

The Elder scowled. "One drop is enough to unsettle me, Kashar... You have the protection of my name and none shall harm you until judgement is passed."

"Thank you, Elder."

"There is one matter that will stay judgement and perhaps even put you in good favor. This matter pertains actually to you, Terim, and the other Wingless."

Terim looked up from his hunched over position wondering what the Elder was speaking of.

Fryze slid down from his perch atop the rock and walked to Blyzzera's side.

"Ah, so is this the part where we are finally told why we're here?" he asked.

Blyzzera shushed him and then focused on the Elder, watching the Kashar in her peripheral vision.

Lau
04-11-2010, 10:23 PM
Sol decided to sit up for this lazily laying his chin in one of his hands, Revel on the other straightened up and listened anxiously.

The Elder gathered all their attension "The Stone Dragon has recieved troubling news, of a darkness in the south of human territory, three villages and even the Fortress of Fehrin have been cut off from other human lands and 'we' are being held to blame." Sol figured this had something to do with humans, dragons rarely ever cared much outside their own territories. "Ontop of this reports say that wyvverns to the east are going berserk, and wreaking havok on the farmlands of the empire, again we are the ones humans point their ignorant fingers at, so we are sending you wingless to their capital."

That didn't quite make sense, even Revel held an air of confusion "Why don't we just go south? It'd save us time and I doubt we are suitable for political debate." Sol spoke cooly.

"I don't presume to understand Lord Gavgyrion's intentions but he IS the Stone Dragon his sight is beyond ours and his guidance is not to be questioned." The Stone Dragon was the oldest of all dragons the last of his kind whish were said to be immune to the passing of time, or so Sol was told as a child. The elder continued spewing his instructions one could sense the doubts of his thoughts among those words "I DO know that preparations have been made for your arrival in the capital of Algard and that your are to report to one Ambassador Esmerald she will knows more of your fates, than I...." He sighed deeply "Lord Gavgyrion, asked that I pass on this message 'he who walks the lands of man and rules the skies of dragons, belongs to neither world for he is death, carried on the wings of death he is son to night and brother to the abyss it is 'he' who holds the future of all unfortunate enough to tread his path', now I must be off make haste and see that this does not turn the world against us."

Revel tried to remember where he heard that before 'son of night brother to the abyss' "So whatcha think of that, we get shipped off to take orders from humans, I think I'd rather deliver food supplies for the next two hundred years."

"Revel, don't you recognize the little 'message' he left us with?" Revel did his best immation of a shrug. "Well, no self respecting Black Dragon wouldn't know it, it's the prayer of Death, the son of night, Thanatos the Death God, if the Stone dragon brought that little story up it means we 'may' be lucky enough to run into a demon or two." Sol didn't do too much reading on the subject but he knew enough to have picture of that beast in his mind Thanatos was as close to the wingless as one could be without being human or dragon, only this thing could fly the old stories painted this beast as a being clad in black armor with massive wings and spear like tail, he was the dragon equivalant to the human boogeyman.

"So who's up for a suicide mission?" Sol annouced as he mounted Revel's back.

demonic_monkey
04-12-2010, 10:52 AM
Fryze looked to the ground, as though it could offer him some answer to the questions that flooded his mind. Thanatos had been mentioned. Would they meet Death on this mission? He could only wonder. He climbed onto Blyzzera's back and looked to Sol.

"I wouldn't say it's a suicide mission just yet, but I choose to go," he said, unsure if he should feel fear from the Elder's words. "We aren't getting any younger and the more we wait, the more carnage will rage upon the world. We have to do something. We're part of both worlds, after all."

"This is a change," Blyzzera said. "I thought you didn't care for humans."

"I don't," he said, "but if we don't help them, they may become a threat to the dragons again. I won't let another war start if I can do anything to prevent it."

Draconic
04-12-2010, 09:50 PM
Terim picked himself off the ground and dusted his clothes off.

"Let me guess, we were actually summoned for this mission to the humans. All I did was just for show then?

The Elder scowled Terim's lack of manners and respect. "Yes and no. Lord Gavgyrion thought it wise to have a Kashar accompany this mission. Upon our discovery of you, Terim, we had to decide whether to uphold law and throw away a valuable opportunity. The possibility of your execution is still very real. Your actions, however, will hold sway in the outcome for you and your patron. You would also find it wise to pay respect to those that will be deciding the final verdict on your fate." With that the Elder signaled that the conversation was over.

Terim looked to Talin. "They needed us anyways." He climbed back into the cradle and made sure his weapons were still secure beneath it.

"It would be a sad thing indeed for us to be of ample need on this mission only to return to an execution. Remember your manners, Terim."

Terim looked to the Wingless atop the black dragon. "I would be glad to join you, cousin. I would rather die a hero than a criminal by my birth."

He examined the dragon Revel, at first glance it would be hard put to not see the similarities between a Kashar and a black dragon. After all, the blacks hold that the Kashar are a mixed spawn of a black dragon and something not quite as noble as a dragon. What exactly that is depends on the storyteller.

Fryze looked about at his comrades. They were all chosen for this for a reason, he knew, but he was unsure what reason that might be. He felt as though there was something deeper to this mission than he could possibly imagine. They were likely to be in grave danger in the future. They would have to work together, all of them, to survive. In the end, he knew, the bonds between them all would have to be strong enough to not break under the pressure.

Blyzzera looked to her cousins. She was comfortable around Revel and Alric, but for some reason she found herself shying away from Talin. She could not fathom why she found herself slightly afraid of the Kashar, but she swallowed her fear and jumped up to a rocky outcropping overhead. She knew she would have to get used to the Kashar eventually, for they were all going on this mission together.

"Alric, Leonore," she called from her perch. "Might you be joining us?"

Alric stayed quiet and listened to the explination, not liking the way Leonore's face lit up when she heard it. She would finally be allowed to walk into human territory, a thought that made Alric cringe.

As the others stood, Leonore jumped to her feet, and in a flash, Alric's tail wrapped itself around her waist and lifted her into the air, despite her protests.

"You will not be allowed to walk on your own until you promise to behave, insuffeabl child." Alric said sternly, following after the three other dragons and their, by comparison, angelic children.

"Good," Blyzzera said. "Let's take wing."

Fryze held on tight as Blyzzera leaped from her perch and flapped her powerful wings downward to achieve lift before settling into a graceful glide. Fryze released his hold on the spike in front of him and sighed.

"This could be very dangerous," he said.

"I like challenges, Fryze," Blyzzera said. "You know we'll all make an excellent team anyway."

"I hope so," he said, closing his eyes.

Revel laughed allowed and Sol turned to the newest addition to the group from his perch atop Revel's back "Well cousin" he remarked about the cousin comment "in human stories all true heros and criminals die as martyrs and examples, let's hope we don't, anyway call me Sol can't wait till we get to Algard the smell of the market is more than the worth the trip."

Revel licked his lips greedily "Let's not waste time the quicker you get to market the quicker I get fed!" Revel nearly shot into the sky with a powerful heave of his wings rolling carelessly in the turbulent winds.

Sol could smell rain though the sky laid bare save for light plumes of grey from the south, it would get wet tonight but water never hurt anyone.

Fryze breathed in.

"Blyzzera," he said.

"I know," she said. "Rain tonight."

He smiled, having longed for a touch of rain after so much snow and ice. This night he knew he would be happy.

Talin followed suit behind revel taking to the skies.

Terim ran the scenario over in his head projecting possible outcomes and causes from what little they were told. The wyverns were going nuts and attacking the farms, most likely for food. Something was driving them out of their mountainous home. There wasn't much that could drive wyverns out like that, aside from dragons or something like that Thanatos if it existed. Either choice wasn't a good scenario. Now the darkness in the south...

"I can't wrap my head around what a "darkness" could be; there's nothing I can think of that could be associated with such a description. "

Talin just chortled. "Then you have a lot to learn about humans still. When they are afraid descriptions skew. You need to find out additional information and that is why we are going to the Algard. Your job is probably going to be fading into the crowds to find out details we cannot get just by asking."

His eyes twinkled. "A market would be a great place to gather intelligence. From what I understand the one in the Algard has goods from all over their Empire. Stories and rumors would travel with them."

Terim crossed his arms and frowned. "Along with certain delicacies that you can't seem to get enough of. You really are just like that black there."

"There are rewards for being information gatherers. Now hold on tight and don't catch a cold. It looks like you are going to get wet."

"You have your hardened scales already, it won't bother you."

"You were trained to be prepared."

"You're right..." Terim unsheathed one of his daggers and ran it parallel to the grooves in the plated scales in front of him.

"Oww." Blood started to well up in the groove. Terim ingested some and his skin turned plated and black.

"I am trained to be prepared."

"I suppose it does better than you whining you are wet the entire trip." Talin's wings beat in rhythm as the clouds finally decided to open up.

Fryze gripped Blyzzera's sides between his knees and thrust his arms out to either side, turning his face skyward as the droplets began to fall. The first he felt hit between his eyes. A wide grin spread across his face as he felt the rain again for the first time in months. Blyzzera smiled herself, knowing how much joy Fryze had to be feeling at that moment. For the first time in a long time, Fryze was entirely content with his life.

"I love the rain," he said, his eyes closed as he sat, elated, on Blyzzera's back.
