The history of Earth has told of the rise and fall of many great civilizations. Mesopotamia, the Roman Empire, the city-states of Ancient Greece. None of them remain as countries in the present day, though we can still see evidence that they existed, ruins of buildings that were once grand and beautiful. From our interpretation of history, we have cobbled together stories explaining why they fell. In those days, however, the reasons were different. They blamed their fall on the anger of the gods.
Why did they believe in those days that their empires were falling because of the gods? What explanation do we give to explain why they believed in the wrath of the gods? We look to nature, believing that they saw the power of the gods there. This is the age of man, after all, and very few of us will believe what we can't prove. We never believe in anything without evidence.
That evidence, though, will soon be found...
Recent excavations in the area surrounding the Aegean Sea have unearthed records of another civilization, one that has been missing from our histories for a very long time; the civilization of Amarren. Nothing was ever written of Amarren by any other civilization that was thriving in its time, not by the Spartans, not even by the Athenians. How is it that an entire civilization could simply be lost in time? What force could have erased them from existence and erased them from history? Could it truly be what the scrolls that were discovered told of?
For the Scrolls of Amarren tell a brief story, perhaps because they were written as the empires' last hope of remembrance, of the rage of the gods. Here, the story is told:
I write now with much haste, for I fear that I will not be alive to write this much longer. The Gods descend upon us even as I attempt to leave this message. They have come as our destruction, planning to erase us from memory. We have angered Olympus and all we sought was an end to the destruction that they wreak upon our world.
Their anger was brought down upon us by the discoveries we made. We know how to kill the gods. They have come now for the weapons that we forged for that very purpose. They seek to destroy the only things that can destroy them. They have been hidden and will hopefully remain so, as these scrolls will hopefully remain.
I know not how long it will be before these scrolls are found, if they are ever found, but I leave upon them my dying wish. Find the Weapons of Amarren. Please, avenge us.

So, since the second LARP I posted upon my return was pretty much a stillborn, I bring this offering. Setting is modern-day in the area around the Aegean Sea. It'll probably start slow, since I plan to start at an archaeological excavation site. The Weapons of Amarren, mentioned in the scrolls, are now the Relics of Amarren (duh, right?). Since I can't think of a better number at the moment, let's go with seven.
The Sword of Amarren
The Spear of Amarren
The Hammer of Amarren
The Bow of Amarren
The Axe of Amarren--demonic_monkey
The Cesti of Amarren
The Trident of Amarren
These weapons were taken all over Ancient Amarren when Olympus attacked and, in an effort to keep them hidden, those weilding them used them to commit suicide. However, the magic of these weapons was designed to contain the souls of those that they killed, so that the Gods could not simply walk out of the Underworld. This prevented Hades from being able to torture the souls of the weapons' weilders to discover their locations, as well. Thus, each weapon is possessed of an ancient soul and those who next touch these weapons will find that these souls are out for revenge on the Gods for destroying Amarren. Since I'm an axe guy, I'm taking that one. Pm me and I will reserve the weapon you wish to wield. The Olympian Gods will show up eventually. Why didn't they just kill the gods with them in the first place? Well, they just weren't ready yet (oh and just in case you are unfamiliar with cesti, they're battle gloves;metal-plated, and spiky and whatnot.).
Without further ado, I present The Relics of Amarren.

Name: Samuel "Sam" Denton (I feel like I've used this name before...)
Sex: Male
Age: 24
Height/Weight: 6'4"/155 lbs.
Appearance: Lanky would be a good way to describe Sam. Scrawny works better, but he doesn't like the term very much. His black hair is cut short and is almost constantly disheveled. His eyes are hazel and usually tell his emotions much better than his face, the lower half of which is home to light stubble. He wears glasses on occasions, but prefers not to wear them, as he believes they make him look like a nerd. He is most often dressed in black cargo pants, black t-shirts, and a black leather jacket as colors don't mix well with his pale skin. He is most often seen toting around a large duffel bag the hold the tools of his trade.
Weapon(s): A single .45 magnum revolver (weapons are not necessary, just useful to have)
Relic: The Axe of Amarren, home to the soul of Arathenes, an Amarrenian warrior.
Personality: Perhaps a little eccentric, as he doesn't like to fit the mold of a boring archaeologist. Somewhat reclusive, he tends to keep to himself for the most part, seldom speaking unless spoken to. He is a fan of Greek history and mythology, which is the one topic that will get him into a lengthy conversation.
Background: Sam knew he wanted to be an archaeologist ever since he first watched Raiders of the Lost Ark at the age of five. At eighteen, he went to college to turn his dreams into reality. His professor, Dr. Raymond Burke, was one of the archaeologists who unearthed the Scrolls of Amarren. Since Dr. Burke has entered the later years of his life, he has decided to let Sam take his place in the search for the Relics of Amarren. Sam hopes to gain a doctorate from this search, but he knows that it will likely be dangerous. Dr. Burke told him that there are some people who believe that the Relics house the powers of Olympus and will stop at nothing to control those powers. Sam, however, seeks to cement his place in history by helping to unearth these ancient relics wrought by a long forgotten civilization.

Sam surveyed the scene before him. Tents. There were several of the scattered around the excavation site, a hole in the ground that had grown to about fifty feet deep and about a hundred feet wide. He dropped his duffel bag on the ground, causing a small could of dust to rise at his feet. This was his first excavation site, having only just gotten out of college with a Master's degree under his belt.
His heart raced excitedly. He was about to embark on a journey to bring a forgetten city-state of Ancient Greece into the light for the first time in thousands of years. The fact that Amarren's history was linked so closely with the Olympian myths only increased his excitement. As he stood there, he wondered if the Relics really did house the powers of the gods. He didn't believe it possible, but he still wondered.
He breathed in the Greek air and then got to work setting up his own tent amidst the others.
