Ok, I didn't know where to put this exactly so
I put it in this forum!
I've been thinking how would the world around us react if there was a major outing of Therians, vampyres, and the rest of OTHERKIN!
Would it be like 'Oh bugger ain't it enough we got gay ppl and wiccans' or maybe a more dramatic reaction (like in the X-Men)!
Some scary thoughts come 2 mind; Like SALEM witch hunts!!!
We think ppl have evolved since the but they are basically the same lil' pilgrims like b4..affraid of what's different.
I don't even want to think how the SKIN HEADS in my neighborhood would react!!!

I don't think There is a big problem with Gays or Wiccans anywhere."We're here We're queer...""We know, we don't care..."
People may think they are crazy....but seriously, there is no huge problem like there was in the 30's or durring the burning times.

Nahh, there wouldn't be any lynchings or anything. What would happen would in many ways be far worse than that, we would all be written off as idiots. It would be viewed as a stupid fad, populated by morons. Everyone's parents would think they were 'going through a phase". Oh, tragedy. We would lose all credibility.

I think through rational speech and clear thinking, some of us wouldn't be written off as idiots, but accepted members of society. After a while, all the kids in my school just accepted the fact I didn't want to be a part of them, in any way, and was like "cool man."
Now, if you go around saying "im a w3rewolf.. beware my ph-phiftyn3ss!" Like most of the less soul searched therians... Then, you would be regarded as a moron, and then you would be treated like a gay. Beaten in bars, laughed at, pointed at, scrutinized... Not because you're a therian, only because you didn't make it a point to rationally prove how you feel. :wavey:
:::EDITNESS:::
No offense towards homo-sexuals. I love you guys, and gals(especially you all ^_~), the only problem I have, is when straight guys act gay. THEN, it freaks me out.
And girls can be bi. Its nature's law.

I'd say that this was more therinathropy than environmentalism.
On the topic though, I can see if there was a big outing it would be a fad. For example vampires, there's a lot of people now (mainly in the US I saw this) going around making out there vampires, buying fangs to where on their teeth and wanting to change their teeth permanently by dentistry.

Most of those are goths infatuated with Marilyn Manson and gore.
:droolbloo No offense Celestial Wolf!
Of course heavy metal and violence has to do with werewolves.
Hmmm...
...
Rainin' Blood!
From a lacerated sky!
Bleeding its horror!
Creating my structure,
NOW I SHALL REIGN IN BLOOD!

I agree with YoungFang to a certain exctent, the vampire thing is getting around and I'v seen probably the same show, but The Werewolf I don't think would go over as well, now the Werecat being mostly unheard of by "man" it may be seen as a fad, but I am not about to go out to a church in the middle of service and say "Hey I'm a werewolf!"... -.o

::The wise white werewolf walks forward::
All mankind, or humans, or however you want to call them, react by one natural instinct that has been with them since the begining of time: Fear of what they don't understand. Like what was mentioned earlier about the X men, that is a good example of human nature against that which is strange to them. People are most afraid of what they don't understand, such as the alternative sexes, vamps, lycans, etc. When they can't understand, they tend to turn to their assumptions. So I would be willing to bet that humans would have a fear of living in a world where they are aware that they are not on the top of the food chain, but there is not reason in my mind why we should hide. We are Werewolves, and we should be proud.

From what I've heard in the past, and I honestly don't know how much truth there is to this, but there supposedly have been incidents in which therians lost their jobs after their beliefs were made known at his/her workplace. Again, I don't know how much truth there is behind it, or what the circumstances were, but it's not totally unheard of.
This doesn't qualify as racism. It can't, and shouldn't, because we're not a race. However, I don't think we have a legal leg to stand on in cases like that, because we're not a religion either. It'd be like getting fired because you have long hair, or a tatoo or something. Sure, the law recognizes you have a right at least not to get killed for being different, but if you wanna be different and it doesn't involved being a racial minority, religious, or some other group that has politicians by the balls, don't expect to have the right, no, PRIVILEGE to work and make a living in your own community.
Getting called names and being associated with dumbasses, ok I can put up with that. But taking someone's job from them, in a capitalist system, is the just about the most significant form of ostricism
