I, personally, find cats to be very intriguing. They smell good...I like pouncing on my kitty...stalking her...rough housing with her...Of course, she doesn't like rough housing.

I don't understand why people have the misconception that canines hate felines. I think they just like to play with them...

Hmmm...what are your thoughts?

I don't like cats, because they run away from me. Gaddamit, I was just trying to look at them!! They're moody and skittish and strange. Ultimately, useless creatures. But I've got nothing against them.

some cats are cool. at least the playful and friendly ones.

i can't stand cats that just seem to hate everyone and just run away whenever someone comes near them and such.

the dogs hating cats deal is just a myth. I've had many cats before, and at the moment I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. One of my dogs doesn't care about the cats anymore (they hardly play anymore) because he's older now. But he does whine if he knows "his kitty" isn't there. Because one of our cats has seniority over my older dog.. so that dog thinks its his kitty. Its so cute.
Now my other dog is still young. She chases the cats all the time. She's growing out of it now, but our other dogs doesn't like to play with her, so she goes and tries to play with the cats. Of course another cat I have my "Queen" kitty, she doesn't let this happen. As soon as Bella (my younger dog) gets anywhere near her she groans and growls and bats her in the face.. But no way do dogs hate cats... they just like to chase them! lol

BUT depending what breed of cat you get, they are very affectionate, some have dog-like personalitys.. I have Siamese (different strain of the breed, not the skinny cross-eyed ones) and my dad goes at night... "Common' Kato lets go bed-time!" and Kato darts upstairs.
Kato is amazing according to other cat breeds.. he asks to be picked up, and he needs his "Kato Stretches" in the morning. He just wants to be with you. Sometimes her chases your legs and bats at them.
With our other cats.. one if very mellow, he just sits and sleeps on the couch all day. The other one comes into the bathroom with me and rubs up against me in the morning. Anyhow... don't assume all cats are "skittish and runs away" because most of the cat population isn't that way.

I, myself, own two cats, a 25 pound orange Maine Coon named Cheddar and a small sleek, Domestic Shorthair names Bastet. Cheddar is the cuddly one of the two, but when you scold him or let him know he did something bad, he runs off and "pouts". Once I scolded him and he ran into the kitchen. Five minutes later I went into the kitchen and he was laying on the kitchen table, staring at the wall and swishing his tail in an angry manner. I called to him, but he just continued being mad. He cracks me up. Owning my other cat, Bastet, is like owning a little 3 year-old that's hyped up on sugar all the time. The cat has so much energy, and she's always leaping and bounding everywhere. My husband and I think that she thinks she's a minature panther. Of course, I have to have a dog in the house ;) and we own a wolf-hybrid named Dreamer. Dreamer is really good with the cats, especially after Cheddar let her know that he is the king stuff of the house. Dreamer typically only wants to see the cats, unless we tell her to "Skit the kitty!" in which she will dart after them in a playful manner. A trick that comes in handy when discplining Cheddar ;)

I love cats. I was raised with one or more felines always underfoot. I have two at the moment, a pedigreed Himalayan female named Misty and a black and white tabby named Sparkey who was born a stray in Toronto. They're the best friends I've ever had. I'm definitely more of a cat person than a dog person.

I currently have a cat, and I love her to pieces. I think the whole cat vs. dog thing is strictly myth. i mean, sure, there probably ARE dogs who hate cats and vice versa, but I'm sure there are those who adore eachother as well. it's just depends on the cat and dog.

Anyway, I do generally like cats. Although, i seem only to have a fondness for my own. *shrug* other cats just don't do it for me ;)

Same. I agree with Xzengrim but one thing is different with me I am also some what allergic. So if I touch a cat and rub my eyes, my eyes turn red and puffy but besides that I have nothing against them. They are pretty cool :buttrock: but canines beat them in the long run. I love canines I haven't met one I haven't liked.

Actually, now that I think of it, at work (I work at a Humane Society) we will test dogs and see how well they get along with cats. Most dogs are curious until the cats make a swipe at them and then the dog doesn't want to care anymore. Some dogs don't even care to begin with. However, some dogs, like Huskies, like to go after small animals, cats included. It's usually a breed thing when that happens. Just this last week, a woman told me a stray dog devoured her little girl's kitten. But, it's mostly a breed thing, I have noticed.

I can't really choose,bc I love them both.I wish I could own a cat though, but my bro.& dad are allergic. But I believe many cats & dogs can get along with eachother,& who evr said it may be a breed thing if they get along or not I feel is right to an extent. When I was younger by my house my dog(a maltese)named Jingles(now 9 yrs old)Used to get out of the house all the time,to hang out with the stray dog/cat/2 raccoons pack of animals that used to live around my neighborhood(this was 7 yrs ago, when my area was like the boondocks & all the business owners had their own animals which sometimes ran off as well, making up this pack,& sadly enough, there was no pound to control it neither)One day I come home from school & we see Jingles hanging out by the door with about 5 kittens & an older cat(who was the mother)around him.the older cat ran off immediatly,& left the kiitens behind. We had no idea whatsoever about what to do about the kittens,& so we were going to bring them to the pound on the other side of the island by the end of the night,if we did not see the mother cat come back for them.We had put them in a flea bath(hey, you never know)& we waited until about 7:30pm for the cat to come back.(During this the kittens found it funny to scratch my dog to the point of when he started to bleed from some of the scratches,& one in particular would'nt get off of his head lol)We're about to get in ther car when the cat *finally* decides to come back. She takes one look at Jingles, who now looks like a war-torn soldier, rounds up the kittens(who were sitting on the stoop)Whaps him in the head with her paw, then runs off with the kittens now in check.Well, that was a load to write,& it's all true,so don't mock me on it!(lol)& that also goes to show you that some cats are just plainly b1tchy.But the kittens were surely adorable :D

Cats are cool. Sure they have very irritating habits, one being they like to try and suffocate you in your sleep... But they are great pets :)

Cats and dogs are not really enemies, sometimes it is a breed thing and otehr times it is a learned behavior. Dogs like to chase things, and since cats are usually smaller and will run the dog will chase. However I have noted that if the cat stops and turns on the dog, usually the dog will back off. I have seen squirrels back down a boxer this way. If you tell your dog that kitty is not food or toy then they usually learn to get along. Some cats despise dogs and never get used to them, and some dogs really thing cats should come in a can and be served for dinner.

I have had both cats and dogs and they have always gotten along. Maybe a swipe or a snap here and there but nothing serious.

At the moment I have two cats. Trouble is a red tabby and my first born. He is like my son, spoiled rotten and knows it. But he isn't a snooty cat, he has a more dog like personality. He comes when you call him, he loves people and any attention he can get, and he is a total turkey slut. He would probably sell his tail for some turkey.

My second cat is Oreo. He adopted me. His family moved away and left him and the neighborhood people had been feeding him. When I oved into my apartment he waltzed right in as if he owned the place and that was that. Luckily he and Trouble get along and don't have any territory disputes, and luckily I have two hands because one can not be petted without the other getting some too.

Neither of them mind dogs, although they both think it is rude for a dog to shove his/her nose in their face and butt without so much as a how do you do. Trouble even plays with my sister's little dog on occassion. Oreo just watches dogs warily as if he is waiting for them to bite but he lived on the streets for 3 years and I can understand his wariness. He isn't that way with people though, he still likes people.

Oh and a side note, the domestic cat is closer to the wolf than the domestic dog.
