See topic.
I ask if people here, particularly therians, have a specific code of morality or honor? Not simply on the large scale, but on smaller subjects as well. Or do you react to things as they occur. If you do have a code, what is it? How did you develop it? Does it have a relation to your therianthropy?

Yes, i have lived by a honor code for 4 years now. no it does not have anything to do with my owl side.
1- treat all you come across with respect, even if they do not respect you
2-help all you come across, even if then dont help you.
3-mind your own damn business, even if people dont mind there own damn business.
4-when speaking put ten words into one, (i took this one from a samurai code, it just means talk as little as you can) even if people wont stop talking to you.
and 5-keep to your choosen path, no matter what happens that may make you questoin you path, no matter how frightining your path may be, stick to it. if you leave even once you may not be able to find your way back.

Seems a little avian... although I can not say from my own eyes. I think that is an admirable path to follow.

I'm almost 22 and have been out of the care of my parents for roughly 4 years, but they have taught me many things. My morals come from three resources; my parents, my religion and my own beliefs. My parents are good conservative people and have taught me good values, the value of kindness and compassion, good work ethics, etc. My religion has emphasized on mostly kindness, service work, the usual, and I have been building my own morals from life experiences.
Basically, this is how it's laid out for me personally, in no particular order ;) And not trying to preach either, if I do come off that way.
-Love and support everone around you like they were your own sibling, even if they participate in something you may not find to be right. Afterall, I believe everything one does is between them and their god(s) and that the deities would be highly pleased if you didn't pass judgement on others, but just pass the love (I kinda sound like a hippie, I know)
-Help a person in need. I have found that doing service work with no expectation of getting something in return makes you feel warm and fuzzy to see someone have that much better of a day. Plus it has some awesome karmic rewards.
-Respect everyone else's way of life and belief system.
-Present yourself in a respectable manner. It makes you feel good about yourself and the self-confidance will radiate to everyone you meet, which is something people tend to admire and respect in return.
-Hard work reaps more crops. Sitting on my hinder all day gets me nothing, but a long day of work usually leaves me in a pretty good I-actually-accomplished-something mood.
I think that's the bigger points for me.

I have a simple, contradictory Code I live by.
1)If it makes you guilty, don't do it.
2) I am not superior to anyone, and in turn, no one is superior to me.
3) Do what seems to be a good idea at the time, and never worry about the consequences. (I’m uh, working on this one)
And 4) don’t pick at it, that just makes it worse. (True for so many things)

A true master of Pratchett, Wray. And a good philosophy. Not as contradictory as you'd think, nor as simple, but it would be easy to follow.

Hmmm... I don't feel like I need to have a code to tell me what to do and what not to do, but if I had to have one, it would go something like this:
1) I'm here to work. By which I mean create my art. That comes before and after everything else.
2) Mind your own damn business!
3) Do not tolerate delusion at all. Believe only what is true.
4) Don't leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth.
5) Be responsible to yourself.

Believe only what is true.
I think that says it all. Wow.
All we need to do is figure out exactly what that is! Which leads us to the same conundrum...God/science/both/other?
But I'm saving the quote. Very deep, man. :notworthy

I find it impossible to live by someone else's standards, sometimes thier morals are just not realistic to one's self. I prefer to live by my own morals.
1- Never pass judgment on other individuals.
2- Don't knock someone elses opinions and ideas; they are to be respected for having a mind of thier own...
3- Help out where help is needed.
4- I am superior to no one, nor is anyone superior to me.
5- Live life; have fun.

Jeez. And I'm stuck over here just doing what seems right... that's kind of embarrassing. Since everyone else is doing lists:
1) Trust your own decisions. Don't doublecheck yourself too often or you'll sell yourself short.
2) ... must think of more things to think about... D***. I got nothing.

I don't exactly live by specific code, but this is pretty much what it would be. My parents, friends and experience have taught me.
1. Eat to live, don't live to eat.
(From a book called Dinotopia.)
2. Give more, take less.
(Dinotopia.)
3. Be yourself.
4. One raindrop raises the sea. Imagine what two will do.
(My own version of a saying.)
5. You can't force people to believe what you think, nor can they force you.
6. It only takes a spark to light a fire.
7. 'Believe only what is true.'
(Love it.)
8. Dreams were sometimes ment to show you things.
(Unexact quote from a book. 'Alyssa's Ring' by Jean Gray.)
9. You are what you are. Nothing more, nothing less.
10. When others talk, listen.

I live by my own code, so to speak.
1) Pain is the fire that forges the soul, embrace it and learn from it.
2) You cannot find your faith in a book or the mouth of another man, you can only find it within yourself.
3) Respect people when they earn it, trust them when they prove it.
4) In the end, you will die. The only lasting legacies you can leave are your children and your good name...cherish and nurture both.
5) Honor, love, and faith are all worth dying for.

Truth, honor, belief, faith, lies, respect, deceit, and trust. Quite an interesting selection. I expected more along the lines of thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal. Much more introspective than that, I see.
My rules are much more simplistic.
1. See the fight from the prey's eyes. Only the most innocent victims can see the truth.
2. Accept weakness in others, but not in oneself.
3. Let no evil coat your claws, neither greater nor lesser.
4. Think twice, speak once.
5. If you can't fight in the battle, make sure you've done what you can to win it. For want of a horseshoe, the war was lost. And it isn't that hard to bend iron.

I've been a fencer for a year now and have gained quite a bit of honour. My code is based on what any person that knows how to use a wepon, sword and gun, should go by. All that and what I have learned in these 14 years of life.
1. Everyone is equal, treat all with respect. Humans or not. Respect everything, animate or inanimate.
2. Never point a gun at someone you don't intend to shoot. Also never raise your sword, (unless it's a real life or death battle,) to a person that doesn't have proper equitment on.
3. Live your life in order to make life beter for others. Not just to live, die, and enter the afterlife. For all we know there may not be one.
4. Never show your enemys your weaknesses. If you do, make sure you have the strength to counter them if they chose to use your weakness against you. (Sorry if that one doesn't make sence.)
5. Be willing to give you life for your friends and what you truely know is right. Then have no regrets when you face the coniquencies of your actions and your death.
6. 'I disagree with what you say. But I will defend to the death your right to say it.' (Some Philopher from the Enlightenment. I can't remeber his name or find it in my notes.)
That's about all right now. I proboly have more, but I've spent more than enough time putting this list together and need to move on to other things.

That's the stuff. Which reminds me. By Being responsible to yourself, what I really mean is don't do anything that you feel bad about. 'Cause that's how you know you've wronged yourself... when you feel bad.
1.Only trust someone you could tell your darkest secret too.
2.Share what you have even if you have nothing.
3.The pack comes first defend the pack and you defend what is most important to you.
4.Fool me once shame on you , fool me twice and I realise it I'll bash you around and you'll wish you were dead.
yeah thats about it, theres too many rules in life to have morality for all of them you just have to look the situation over and then pass judgment its not as simple as we're making it out to be, circumstances etc... anyone who wants to see a good movie about stuff liek that should see "Donnie Darko".

I've been trying for some time to develop a code of honor for myself, but have finally decided some things I believe should be followed just cannot be written down. Most of what I have seen on here is all very good, and a vast majority of it is common sense, which seems to escape most people these days. Good to see some people out there who still possess it.

This is my code. May sound simple but it works for me.
1. Treat other as they have treated you.
2. Fight only if it's a last resort.
3. All people are equal but none are the same.
4. Do what feels right.
5. Do good without expecting a reward.
6. Don't judge people by what's on the outside but the inside.
7. Reveal nothing about yourself but learn all you can about others.
8. Never back down, Hold your ground (Old war saying)
9. Always have a new trick ready.
10. A tooth for a tooth, and an eye for an eye.
11. Live each day like your last.
If all this is mixed right you should end up with a very timid and peaceful outward appearance, deadly when angered, kind when happy, a good sense of justice, very surprising, and a few other small things to. Kind of taking anger, happiness, and peacfullness to the extremes. Since I started following this people don't like to get on my bad side.

I have a very specific listing, it has over 400 laws and is growing still. They are based, in part, on the way wolf society works, and I have here the boiled down basics.
*Take no dishonorable action
*Pay no respect to those lower than yourself
*Pass up no honorable fight
*Be unselfish
*Be straightforward
*Be loyal
*Maintain quality in all things
*Eternal obedience to those of highest rank
*Accept punishment for failure
*If I am alive, I am still learning
*Never show fear
*Never overtax or overburden those of lower station
*Breaking your word is forbiden
*Work with what you have as best you can
*Do not forgive any crimes committed until they have been justly punished
*Be aware of the Wisdom, Respect, and Honor in all things, places, and people
*Give Honor and Respect as much as is deserved, and no more than is deserved
*Reveal no secret
*Fall to No Taint
*If they be willing to try, relieve those of taint as best you can.
Any questions, write me. I mean it.
[Taints: Fear, Greed, Power (corrupt or mongering), Desire (sick or overwhelming), Hatred (without just base), Cruelty, Violence (without cause), Consumption, Lies, Paranoia, Despair, Apathy, Defilement (Like a worse version of Desire. Desire is wanting a child in a sexual manner, Defilement is actualy molesting them)]

Not much like any wolf I have heard, but to each his own. At least you do good, or at least avoid evil.

Blueeyes, its only in part from wolves, and it's there if you look close enough.
"Pass up no honorable fight" - (not just physical buy the way, a test of wits would also go here) it keeps one strong, and if you are weak then you cannot contribute to the pack and will be chased off, and as you are so weak, you will surely die on your own.
"Be loyal" - I know it pisses people off when you attibute that to wolves, but if people are loyal and obey say, a team leader (who of course, actualy listens to the team in turn) will have a great eam effort and work. If wolves are hunting, it ruins it for everyone if one wolf deiceds to go off and do his own thing.
"Maintain quality in all things" - I just want to say I've never seen a wolf do a half-assed job at anything and it's rare that they're mangey and look like a beat-up rug
"Eternal obedience to those of highest rank" - You don't listen to the Alpha, you don't stay in the pack (of course and alpha not worth listening to won't stay alpha for long anyway)
"Accept punishment for failure" - If a wolf pissess of his pack, he's gonna get a beating. If he runs, fine, but if he ever comes back he'll probably get his beating then too.
"Never show fear" - Fear shows that you realized you may not be able to overcome somthing, that you have weakness. In both human and wolf society you will have your every (revealed) weakness taken advantage of.
"Never overtax or overburden those of lower station" - If alpha is a dick to his pack, they'll go off without him and he'll be alpha of the dirt he pissess on and that's it.
"Breaking your word is forbiden" - Wolves don't lie, but it goes with the above rule. If you lie, no one will trust you.
"Give Honor and Respect as much as is deserved, and no more than is deserved" - This can be boiled down to the wolf basic of 'submit to those of higher station, but submiting to those of lower station is just plain dumb.
"Fall to No Taint" - I just want to say I'v never seen a wolf that was tainted and that I've never seen two untainted humans in the same room.
