One of the most argued about figures in English football ("soccer" to you Americans has died).
George was a youngster who had incredible talent in football, however a lot of people felt he never really fullfilled his potential. However alcoholism got the better of him, causing him to retire at just 27.
"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered," he famously said of his lifestyle.

We all get the same amount of time - a lifetime - and George Best certainly made the most of his.
A few years ago he would have been well annoyed he didn't live to see all night opening at the pub.

I noticed a certain irony there myself.

Jeez, I'm tired of this. I know he was a great footballer and it's a shame that he died but EVERYONE dies and he didn't exactly try his best to improve his lifestyle. It irritates me because there are so many intelligent people who have changed our world a little bit for the better over the years and they only get a one-line mention on the News or perhaps none at all. Best had a relatively easy life: being paid thousands per game. Yet he chose to squander money on booze which eventually killed him. Heroic? I don't particularly think so.
I suggest you post about these people's deaths then.
As far as i'm concerned, this is the Sports forum on Werewolf.com, where sports discussion occurs. Shouldn't irritate you at all.

The fact that this is a discussion on the Sports forum DOESN'T irritate me - what I've previously stated does. As a member of this site I believed that I could post my personal views here. If you disagree with these ideas, and have interesting ones of your own, then go ahead and post them.
Like WhiteCrowUK said, he was 'one of the most argued about figures in English football'.
