View Full Version : How do I tell if i'm a therian?

I know i've already posted one like this, but i realized that I made a big mistake (and of course some nice guy on here had to point it out.. well ridicule more like..) and so I decided to start fresh.
All I really want to know is how do I tell if i'm a therian?
And I also wanted to know is.... What happens if the person has more then one animal?
One of my friends told me of a way.. It's like you have to visualize this that and the other and then in the end you have to see a forest and An animal in the forest... Well I think i saw a pather.. Bt i'm not sure if i was hoping that and thats why i saw it or not...
Thanks

Therianthropy is not something you just wake up with one day. It takes soul-searching and thinking to decide if you have an animal connection.
But therianthropy isn't an "animal connection", is it? It is being the animal (to a degree) - a connection is totemism...
Unless I'm completely mistaken. I reserve the rights to be. ;)

What happens if the person has more then one animal?
Then you have attributes of two animals.
Of course, that's a touchy subject. Since therianthropy is a spiritual and philosophical enigma as opposed to anything solid like a science there are lots of disagreements. Some believe that people with two animals are screwed, some believe that the two animals usualy merge into one hybrid being, some believe it's impossible to be more than one.
I have no idea which one is right, and neither does anyone else here. Read up and decide for yourself. :)
It's like you have to visualize this that and the other and then in the end you have to see a forest and An animal in the forest...
You don't have to visualize a thing. Know what visualization is? Pretty pictures in your head. That's it.
Well I think i saw a pather.. Bt i'm not sure if i was hoping that and thats why i saw it or not...
You probably saw it because it's what you expected or were hoping for. As I said, visualization is a pretty picture in your head. Since 'your head' is where it comes from, what do you think influences what exactly that picture is?
I'll see if I can scrounge up some info and post it for you. Also, I want to tell you now, don't get your hopes up. You might not have an animal side to you, and it might not be 'cool.' You would not believe how bummed I was to find out I'm a coyote instead of something kick-ass. I'm not as tough as a wolf, and I'm not as cute as a fox - but still just as puntable. Damn.

I heard a story about a therian (who identified herselkf as a "were",)who became a large cat astrally. Maybe you should practice some astral-porjection and see how your soul "looks" like.

Search within. Hard. And look to your past. Every act like an animal? Still have it in you? Of course, those are the only ways I can think of, unless something else comes to me.

Maybe you should practice some astral-porjection and see how your soul "looks" like.
But the Astral isn't the realm of spirit - it's the realm of cognition. While I suppose it could tell you if you've got something contherianthropic going on, it could easily be influenced by expectations as well unless you're a master of yoga (real yoga, not watered-down new-age crapola) and know how to have only the superconcious active.

Thanks all.. But how exactly do you go about in the soul searching? and the biggest problem I find is.. How do I know if (and a big if)it's my mind thats making me think I actually am a therian?

thats what I have to ask myself all the time.
Your at the same age that I started asking "Am I Therian". Its something you can only ask yourself. Only you can anwser. And most likely, youll never been completely, 100% Certian of.
It is so unique to every person that no one can draw a line on what is or is not therian.
Do you take a perspective on life that other non-therian's dont. Do you relate well with the animal you beleive yourself to be and do you understand them and their actions. Do you know why they react the way they do and understand them in ways most people dont.
It is often the little subtle things that are the key to the mystery. The things you do with out realizing it is not humanly typical. Things you do with out thaught.
You need to study yourself. Your habits, actions and thaughts. Compare them to those around you. Look inside yourself and ask why you do those things. Why drives you to act as you do.
Its a long road and while we may all walk a similiar path, none of us walk the same line.
Im sure I didnt make things a whole lot clearer, but hopefully I didnt confuse you more so. Hopefully someone else will find a clearer way of say what I did.

Thanks.. You actually cleard quite a lot of things up... So in short i gotta try and see how i act... Well.. According to my friends... i act like a cat... And in some small moments I kinda look like a cat... Like once when I was at my tae kwon doe practice and I tried to grab the sensei's leg (we were joking around) and at that point all my friends said I reminded them of a cat... Just those kinda things right?

Yeah, kind of like that. Your actions, what you do, how you think. I guess looks too.

Can your friends help, do you think? If, for example, your friends say you looked like a polar bear, would that mean you may have some sort of connection, therian or not, with a polar bear?

I don't think looks really have anything to do with being a Therian.

I second this. It's all internal. How your body looks is up to genetics, not the nature of the soul.
But I was under the impression the poster meant "looks" as in how he acts. You know, the "you look just like a cat when you do that."
Or was I too blue-eyed there?

No, you could be right. "You look like [insert random animal here] when you [random action]." That is perfectly sane.

I'm a girl (If he meant me. If not, forget it)
I see your point, but don't you think that if you believe you are an animal on the inside, your body may change a bit, to echoe your beliefs? Say, for example, if your belief was that you were a therian cat, because you believe you are a cat, you face amy change to resemble a cat in small ways.

I suppose this might be true, but unlikely.
To tell the truth, I've kind of noticed some sort of subtle changes in facial features specifically. (since embracing myself as a possible therian) However, I'd say it's all in my mind, since nobody else sees a difference. Probably it's my newfound healthiness that's visible outwards or something.
Before somebody reports that another person has commented on how their appearance has changed a little bit, I remain highly skeptical. ;)

Yeah, small things could take place, I guess. My eyes look more wolfish, at least I think so. And my teeth are sharp, but a lot of people have sharp teeth. I guess some small things that aren't too noticable to others can happen, but most of the time, only you would notice it.

The eyes definetely do change, but not physically. Your eyes are the mirror of your soul. Technically they've always mirrored your self, but also the confusion before one realizes his/her inner nature...

Well, I don't think it's much of a physical thing, and I don't think it's "Oh, I think I'm like so I [I]must be a therian of this type!" The way it happened for me, I was hiking in some woods near my house with my brother a few years ago. We came to this big ditch (huge); I took barely a running leap, and threw myself across, roaring and all. When I landed on the other side, I was hunched on my knuckles, and I was seeing a huge gorilla in my mind. I didn't pick a gorilla--I guess it could be said that the gorilla picked me.
My thoughts...
anywho

I skimmed most of these posts because they just all seem to say the same thing. Listen, no one else can tell you if your a therian or not. They can tell if certain attributes are a sign of therian and they are usualy right. But only you will know if your a therian. My suggestion, meditate. Meditate on the subject therian and explore and see what happens. It may be tough but its a sure effective way.
