View Full Version : Personal belief

I know it is risky to talk of personal belief online, but screw it, what do I have to hide? I have a belief that kinda binds all the religions of the world together and it is this: I believe there is truth in everything, that everything has some degree of truth, but there is no absolute truth that can be proved. Note I am not trying to convert anyone, I am just adding this into the mix of discussion amonsgt my peers.

There are 2 kinds of life: Fate and Destiny, and there is a difference. Fate is the result of a choice, Destiny is prechosen and unavoidable. These are both a part of the life we live, and that is why we tend to see what is about to happen next (Fate) and why some things seem like they were meant to happen (Destiny).

Ok, I'm done preaching my opinion.
Feel free to tell me what you think.

I came upon this not too long ago and i think it stands pretty true.

There is one truth. That truth is that the most powerful things in existance are Love and Hate. Constently Creating and constantly destroying. They never began and they never will end. There are no gods, there are no devils. There is only Love and Hate.

Good point made Rhiakath. I see the valid point you make. I was actually thinking of this a bit or along a similar vein when I came across your post. Ok here's my thinking. True we are all related in some way to another, being that it is thought that the we all derive from the same genetic branch. The theory is that we all evolved from a common genetic ancestor, I think they named her "eve' if I remember correctly. Being that we all have a common ancestor, and seeing that we are animals by nature, is it possible that genetic imprinting deep down on an instinctual level we have similar religions? The term the "reptilian mind". A deeper mindset that bonds all humankind. Ok so we have this common ancestor. Many religions have roughly the same basic tenants that are common through all religions. And most people believe that there is a God, creator a divine being or something greater out there. So come to think of this as a starting point, we have a common ancestor, we have common basic beliefs in religion. What is religion evolves as well? Everything evolves and adapts. Sure religion has been changed by man, this is without doubt. Take for example everyone can agree about the Judeo/Christian link. Even Islam acknowledges that they are an evolved form of the Judeo/Christian religion. Muslims believe that God/Allah had sent prophets to all peoples all over the world. Every culture had a prophet from God/Allah. They do believe in Jesus, they believe he is a prophet from God/Allah. But they believe that there were others after him, hence Muhammad who was supposedly to be the last Prophet. The archangel Gabriel was to have visited Muhammed. The difference where we all split is what child was offered and sacrificed to God/Allah, the child of Abraham. All three religions agree we are children of Abraham. The muslims believe that God/Allah had sent prophets to each culture, but he had not sent complete instructions to follow him until he sent Gabriel to Muhammed. First I will state I am not a Muslim, I'm still reading different books. Now surely man being ignorant and arrogant they distort the religions to seem superior. It's happened too frequently. Things were added to the bible years after it was dictated. Parts have been omitted and altered. It's human nature to want to be special and to be the "chosen one" by God. It drove cultures to war and to give reason and explanation to invade and conquer. This is fact. Look at the origins of most major wars and it's either the cause of religion, trade or land dispute. So if it stands to reason that we have common ancestors and we evolved, society evolves, technology evolves ... can't it stand to reason religion evolves? Who's to say they honestly know God? How can a person who doesn't know much honestly say that they know God if God knows all and created all? Isn't this arrogance to say they can claim to know God. I think that the more people preach they know God and speak to him the less they know God. What do you think? I'd be more than happy to discuss this with anyone or share thoughts and ideas.

OK! I'm really annoyed that my post on the "Dark side of Christianity" thread got deleted. SO I'm going to state my personal opinion here (and I don't care if it's not PC or friendly enough for everyone) :banghead:

I HATE CHRISTIANITY and ISLAM!!!!!!!! Nothing can change my mind, I think these belief systems to be my enemies. I disagree with a lot of their teachings and am sickened by how over the years evil attrocities have been committed in their names. Even after reforming and changing they still cause evil. There are some things that I think are unforgivable.

If the christians and muslims are going to start a holy war, then by all means I'll release all of my wrath upon both of them! I honestly don't care if I take a piss on a church or just burn the damn thing down!

I was once a christian, but everything seemed to contradict and seem wrong. Then I learned about everything the church did in the past (witch trials, killing pagans, killing jews, Crusades, Inquisition). What I had once thought holy and good now seems filthy and evil. Perhaps the original teachings of christ were good in nature, but over the years people have slashed and edited so much of it that there's little truth left. Even after the protestant reformation evil persisted in the different churchs. For christianity makes an individual give all power to a single being. And anyone assosiated with that being gains power. and with absolute power comes absolute corruption.

While I'm not as well versed in Islam from what I've studied the faith seems no different then christianity. Islam is perhaps even more dangerious since it has the same zeal and power that christianity used to have during the european dark ages.In a recent Islamic world conference held in Indonesia they stated anti-semtic comments. Such as along the lines of, "The Jews control the world bank and the western world, but we will defeat them. We have many and the jews have few".This came out of the leader of the gathering, THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDONESIA! Absolute crap!

And I can imagine someone deleting this. To them I've got nothing more to say then censorship! Just like the christians/Muslims who wish to ban "satanic" metal and rock. Did you know that in Turkey and Morrocco members of metal bands have been arrested with no trial for the supposed crime of "practicing satanism or the occult". what bs!

Ya hey Jesus and Muhammad had nor do they have anything to do with this, demonstrably, if you have something against love and peace....then ok, I mean sure jesus's main idea seems certainly flawed to me but the basic idea was not so bad....humans are to blame if you read the bible or koran or what have you i think you'll find jesus and muhammed would be dissapointed in their followers, so remember next time you decide to start hating openly that you are no better than their modern day idea slaves (followers) also not all christians or islams behave like some of the others so your stereotype makes you seem a trifle foolish.

i think it's so interesting that the reason you hate Christianity and Islam is the reason that i love it!! imagine a whole world full of humans who have taken this awesome thing and f-ed it up beyond recognition....and STILL we haven't been given up on!!

it's pretty amazing...

sorry If my last post was a bit too much, I just felt the need to release some stress from my post on the "dark side of...." being deleted because I expressed my anger towards Speaker-with-Spirits ignorant comment on how satanists will learn "there supposed lesson" by going to hell. I hate comments like that! pure dogmatic rubbish.

it took me way to long to learn that your heart should guied you to religion, not other people. I'm Christian and I don't take offense to
ArcaneWolf's statement. I used to go to church but I couldn't conect with the people their so I stopped going. I'm christian and yet I don't go to church that sounds weird.
I don't like organized religion, all they seem to do is want to convert you to what they believe, isn't religion supose to be on a personal basis? They're really nice when they're trying to get you on their side but when you show up at their church they give you dirty looks (I'm sure there's a few good ones out there somewhere though).
I know it says somewhere in the bible that it's better to worship alone, than out on the streets because people who worship there are
hypocrites
sorry if this sounds weird I was kinda rambling :(

The reason your post was deleted on Darker Side of Christianity is because you stated no point. You blasted out profanity and said Hail Satan. That isn't exactly a topic thread. You can say you hate Islam and Christianity but the religions themselves are not to blame. Those who have used religion as a support for their actions are. The people that have given those religions a bad name are people who can not accept responsibility for their own actions and who, in effort to gain support, have claimed that their "God" has demanded or condoned their heinious actions.

I'm not a christian or Islamic, but I do respect the rights of others to practice their own religion as long as it doesn't infringe upon my rights and as long as they don't bring it to my door and shove it down my throat. My family still has this delusion that if they preach to me enough I will give in. So far the shrunken head keeps them at bay but who knows for how long.

Anyway, the best defense against those religious fanatics is simply to run, or, learn their Bible or religion better than they have learned it and throw passages back at them. Then run.

I don't mind if you don't like something but I do mind when you resort to petty and childish behavior and forget that you have a brain.

I can see the reasoning because of the curse word, but the "hail satan" comment was more of sarcasm then anything else. I just get very emotional whenever someone says someone else is going to hell for some reason. It truely and deeply bothers me and I'm sorry if I acted out of hate, but that was simply what I was feeling at the time.

Also you have to understand that the culture that I consider myself a part of holds individuality in high regard and sees Religion as an enslavement of the mind and soul. And since the culture developed in northern europe, most of the antireligious feelings are driven at christianity.

I understand your feelings and sentiments. The only God I recognize is me and that is more than enough. I'm not saying you have to like or join other people's religion but you should all least respect their beliefs. And yes it is annoying when other people say you or someone else is going to hell because of their actions. Frankly that is not their job to judge, even their christian god has told them not to judge and when they do then I find them very poor followers of their faith. And I usually like to point that out to them but in a calm and rational manner. Cursing at people like that and shouting "Hail Satan" even in anger and sarcasm seems to lend these types of people credence for their actions as they do believe that you an an unholy beast that is surely destined for hell and instead of taking a look at themselves, they take great delight in pointing and reviling you.

Think before you speak.

Lycanthropic Howl does have a good point. People listen more closely when you are calmer and don't use sarcasm and other things. Things like "hail satan" used in any emotion will just make those fanatics feel more superior. The best thing to do is to reverse their faith on them. Make them question if they're as devoted as they thought. Thats how i get around where i live.
Besides, its so much funner to see the looks on their faces when you make them question themselves. A ton more satisfying too.
