Hi guys!
I'm writing a book at the moment, it's a horror story - werewolves. Thing is, i don't want to make it obvious who the werewolf is but at the same time i don't want to over step the mark - there are rules for werewolves, rules which i can't break. The things that's catching me up is silver, i originally said that the werewolf in my story wore a silver cross round her neck, (i wanted to put people off) but i'm not sure if i'll be able to get away with it. I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know whether this is an option for me or not and if not, what can i replace it with. Cheers!

why not :)

Silver is only a misunderstanding by the catolic church.
so writing in this way about it will help us getting rid of that stupid lie. :D

i wear a silver necklage around my neck too. ;)

Let's do like this, eh?

You can kill a werewolf(in its man-wolf form) with normal bullets, BUT you have to shoot incredible amount of them to bring one down. Silver causes serious wounds and can kill werewolf esily.

And what comes to a cross, put it that it's painted to look like silver. And it somehow comes to the story like:
-Hey, why didn't that cross hurt her then. It's silver isn't it?
-Hmm.*rub* *rub* *wash* *wash* Nope, it's just ordinaru metal cross which is painted so it looks like silver.

Ooooor something like that.

While were on the subject of silver. You know how there are earing made so you don't have an allergic reaction to them, well some reason they still itch me. And we buy sterling silver. And my mom's always wondering why they would still be itching me because their not supposed to. I've never really believed in the weres being allergic to silver gist, but could it be possible?

In the book Blood and Chocolate (great story), Aiden gives Vivian (the werewolf) a silver cross. She laughs at the irony of this, but she still wears it. In this book, silver only hurts werewolves if it enters the body (mainly if silver was put on a wound, which would obviously include silver bullets). You could go along this premise, too.

Or try something like only a recently shifted werewolf would be effected; one thats been human or wolf for a while would become normal. Makes sense - since they're animals of change, they adjust to everything. Of course, it would take months or years for that to occur in real life, but the writer gets to make the rules in a book.
Or you could make it so the silver only causes pain, and no damage, then make it a penance type of thing. Gives her a more flawed or 'human' feel; only humanity thinks about its past.
Just a couple ideas.

One thing I was thinking of was that the light reflected off silver could be similar to moonlight, and would thus make a werewolf very antsy.
