Magic is not a blood trait and it is not genetic. It is something you either have or don't have, whether or not you believe in it. It is not passed down through families by blood, it is passed through learning. Some people can work it innately, others need the guidance of others.

That's really all I feel qualified (and motivated) to say about that.

And I agree with DW.

I know this may sound stupid, but I think that "magic" is merely an ability to manipulate the world around you. Some people hear the words "magic" and conjour images of Harry Potter-esque fireballs and sparkly lights....Err, no! I know a fair few practitioners of the magickal arts, and it boils down to a few basics of Charms, Chants, Crystals, Holistic Therapies, Cartomancy (Tarot), Herbology and the like, things humans used long before MTV and the internet. Some are more naturally atuned to the world around them, and some spend a long time studying...i.e. Derren Brown, everyone thought he was a magician, but he was actually a highly trained illusionist and psychologist. Like I said I know this sounds lame!

Well, like many things, magyck can't exactly be explained. I come from a family with absolutely no "magyckal" backround, but yet I think everyone finds some fascination in it. Whether or not it's in your blood, I suppose that can't really be explained by me. Take this your own way, but I think magyck is for people who can't find anything else to do. ;) ((You know I'm just messing with you Celtic Hill, see you in school!))

Oh yeah, I do agree with DW there, you really DO need to pay attention in English class. Our English teach won't be happy if you don't get your grade up. :D

Magical ability is something you have or you don't have. Its not like you'd imagine though. Its a personality thing really.

You seem to have a lot of questions about magic and how it works. There's numerous essays on the subject online and numerous books. I would suggest finding something credible that isn't laced with a lot of pretty wordplay and sitting down and thinking about it.

Then you might want to go do something productive for awhile, get your mind off of it. If magic is enough of an interest, you'll come back to it and might find you're good at it. It won't matter cause you'll think you're good at it anyway.

Greypaw, you've probably got a more accurate definition of magic than 90% of all "magicians" and "witches" out there.

I must admit that some magic is fake. I know a guy who can do about every card trick in the book. One trick he even pulls your card out of his mouth. It is all about illusion. Even though some tricks I can't even see how he does at all.

Yes it's cool, but there's no such thing as "magic" the way the OP is talking about it. Please to grow up, all of you. Except Morg. /petpet.

Hey I never said it was magic now did I. I just said I have no idea how he does some of his tricks. Yes I know it is sleight-of-hand. That is all most "magic" tricks are. You still have to admit though some of the tricks people do are death defying.

what exactly is your definition of magic? The previous post are correct that those tricks are a slight of hand so what kind of magic are you asking about?

It's not a blood thing. It's energy. People have answered your question however ridiculous it may be. I stand by my previous post as well.

I suppose if someone could turn into a werewolf or wolf, then you could say magic is in their blood.

This does not have as much to do with magic being in your blood. As morgan says magic is energy and all you have to do is learn how to control this energy and bring it out in a physical reaction. I have no idea how to do that but I can control the energy and send it to bodyparts. I wish I could find someone that would show me how to bring it out in a physical way. That way I know I am just not insane.

Okami no hi

I'd force it out thru my finger tips. My body takes on alot of electricity and I just move it to my fingers. That way I can shock people without anything static near me and freak them out. I don't think that it is magik tho', I just think some people are yes, more intune with themselves, and that their bodies can just handles more energy, electricity, and whatnot, than other people.

YOU asked if MAGIC was in your blood or not I asked what kind of magic and that is off topic how? Be a little bit more discriptive and maybe we can answer better :)

Ok to put an end to this thread. Magic is not in your blood. Everyone can do it. I think though that some people are born with more knowledge about it then others. They subconciously want to find out more about it. So they start looking into it and find out more and more until they can do it.

well I think it can work both ways.
My mother was a High Priestess and generations of my family have been "witches".
And there is a history of Shaminasm in my family my great great grandmaother was a full blooded Cherioke Indian.
And my step mother is a Wiccan Hiah Priestess as is her mother and her mother and her mother and her mother ............. all they way back through our family line.
So I do believe if your family pratices such things you might out of habit like my mother loved cats and wolves I do also ansd since she is very intuned with snakes I am not afriad of them(but I give them proper respect.)
But it is possible to learn the old ways if you have an open enough mind to it.
I see it as if when your little and have an imaginary friend and once you get older your parents say it's not real you see less and les of said friend until they disappear completly but if your parents incourage you then you still have an open mind to the "impossible".
That's my take on the subject.
Blessed Be

Actually, that's just an illusion. There is nothing magyckal about it. All he's mastered is trickery and making people believe he can do that. If you read the title of his show, it says something like: Master illusionist

I think that may be Canis's point about the whole topic.

I was just making a point, Canis. No need to be rude. Since there are so many stupid people here, I simply thought you were being serious, chill out.

Thanks, Morgana. I kind of realized it, but thought I'd say so anyway, just to be sure. It's kind of hard to display sarcasm on the internet unless you actually say it. I may be somewhat smart, but I'm not a mindreader, so don't assume I knew that you were being sarcastic. And even the all-caps doesn't exactly help.If you want to be sarcastic or funny, make it seem like it.

Don't take this post insultingly, again, I was just making a point.
