You start caring about grammar and spelling when some village idiot uses so many abbreviations you have to take ten minutes to read a two sentence freakin post :) Besides, although me and LV sometimes do not see eye to eye, she is someone who has an immeasurable amount of knowledge and she is someone I respect and if it wasn't for her the site wouldn't be what it is today so, show some respect. That and the fact she MADE the rule list so before opening your mouth you might want to read said rules :)

That and the fact she MADE the rule listI feel it useful to point out that the rules contained in the rule list in Misc Disc was actually a list made by admins, mods and even users. At the time we decided a revision, or clear description, of the rules was needed and we put it to the general populace on what rules. I think two or three were ones I made. I can't remember which ones though. Anyway, that list is the result. Only those agreed on by general consensus were copied and pasted into a consolidated list by our great admin, LH (LV426).

This also tells us that people demanding/mods enforcing good spelling and grammar - a rule made and agreed upon by regular members - is exactly what is expected and desired for this site by those who use it.

It just seems laughable when a stray user comes on and complains about the rule, often leading to insults against the site staff, and yet it was a member-created/approved rule. If I remember rightly (which, admittedly, is not reliable) this rule was enthusiastically received by most and many have complimented the site staff for enforcing it. It was amongst the most wanted of rules which is also why you find it repeated in many forum-specific rule threads.

So to all and future n00blets: Don't whine on these boards about the spelling and grammar rules because it was the members here who made it a rule in the first place! The idea was that if you cannot be bothered to even make an attempt at average or better use of English then you have no respect for the site. Most view it as an insult; a horrible and ugly stain on what is otherwise a masterpiece of art.

In the upper right hand corner of your message box is a checkmark with the words ABC above it. Click it to check your spelling. You need to download something for it though. You could also write your posts in Word and copy and paste. There are spell checks online too, like http://www.spellcheck.net/.

No, you don't need 10 hours of sleep. An adult can function on 6, but 8 is the prefered number. 9 for a teen. Most teens though are sleep deprived because they stay up until 1 am and get up for school at 6 am. So they sleep a lot on the weekends to compensate.

Anyway, I have read this entire thread, though I've been following it since the beginning. I like to read the entire thread before posting so as to not reiterate what's been said a dozen times. I think that more people should do this. It could cut down on the amount of tr00 w3r3s we get.

No, you don't need 10 hours of sleep. An adult can function on 6, but 8 is the prefered number. 9 for a teen. Most teens though are sleep deprived because they stay up until 1 am and get up for school at 6 am. So they sleep a lot on the weekends to compensate.

I go to sleep at 4AM and get up at 2-2:30 PM these days.
Thats about ~10 hours of sleep, which, IIRC is about the right ammount of sleep one should get every night.

Yes, actually, I would have been able to read it all in one sitting, but, last night was a Saturday, and it was midnight, and, as you well know, the weekly new episodes of Death Note and Blood + were coming on, and there was no way I was going to miss either of them.

Christmas is only celebrated in late December because of the solstice, so it would not at all surprise me if people who celebrate the solstice rather than Christmas thought it to be the real date that myth refers to.

Uh, false. Open mindedness would mean looking at all facts and being open to the idea it may exist either now or in the future, whatever, as well as the idea that it also may not be real.

Open mindedness is looking at all sides, not just one perspective. Example: You thinking that werewolves exist not willing to accept werewolves may not exist is also close minded.

But, even the open minded are entitled to disagree on something's existence when there's no evidence to support the idea and many biological and physical facts and theories to say they can't be real, not as we imagine them to be at the very least.

Open mindedness is about taking a good hard look at all sides and coming to a rational conclusion.

Put it this way: I can tell you I am god, I have no evidence to support this, I cannot demonstrate my power for reasons your mind cannot grasp no matter how told. You just have to believe me. Does your first thought say "he could be god!" or does it say "yeah right, you wish!"?

If the latter, then, by your own judgement you'd be closeminded. After all, why should you believe I'm god when there's nothing but my word to say so? Likewise, why should we believe werewolf claims simply because people say they saw "something" that seemed "like" one?
