I've been a long time fan of hemp products. No, not the kind you smoke, but of fibers, cosmetics, and foods. Hemp, as the article states, has been used for such a long time and can be made into so many useful products. The fibers are very durable (and from my experience get nice and soft with repeated washings!) Its a shame that the drug stigma on the plant is stopping the growth of an industry that has room to blossom in to a healthy and organic form of business.

I agree with Tia. Hemp is a wonderful material and its reputation is really dragged down by all the drug stuff.

I honestly wonder about hemp ice cream though...would it be MADE from hemp (or have hemp in it along with the dairy) or would it be hemp-flavored? Sounds awesome though. If the Aussies and Chinese can do it (hell, the Chinese with their Communist government to boot!), the good ol' USA can certainly throw its hat in the ring.

I personally like hemp for both reasons. I did like the post about curing your own munchies at the same time though...lol

I love hemp. A friend of mine has permit to grow hemp (not weed). It's soo cool. You can do anything with it. My wife loves the lotion. And all of my necklaces are on hemp rope. I won't lie. the drug use of hemp isn't necissarily a bad thing ( if the government can evr control it it'll probably end up being legal, I mean it is less dangerous that drinking and that legal) but hemp is way more useful.

Hemp is pretty much legal it's just restricted to permits.
