Eating meals uncooked is a good way to get very sick.

I very rarely eat raw meat anymore and especially not supermarket meat. The risk of e-coli or parasitic infection is too great.

Depends on the quality. Some butchers will offer specific air-dried cuts of meat that are much safer to eat rare or raw. Wouldn't recommend getting near uncooked beef or ground meat, though. Even still, I think a lot of the paranoia is overblown, particularly coming from the same people who ignore a lot of other potential contamination sources.

As for raw lamb, I don't like the texture of marbled meat. I know it's popular in a few countries (India, Turkey?), but you really have to get the best cuts of meat or it ends up tasting off by Americanized standards. Too fibrous to get at without using your canines, far from a popular method.
To each their own.

In countries like Iran or Arabia, people eat raw stuff alot, and they don't get sick from it. I think that Americans just have weaker immune systems.

Not, necessarily! A person's immune system has a lot to do with their environment as well. People gain resistances to bugs that are prolific in their own areas. Beyond that, a certain taste for an unusual food is very cultural. If you grew up with it, you're more likely to not have a problem with it. One example that comes to mind is Vegemite from Australia. My husband loves the stuff, but he was brought up with it. I was never exposed to it until I was 25 and think it's terribly disgusting. Now, on the other hand...take Ranch dressing. We eat a lot of it here in the States, but my Aussie husband thinks it's just nasty. You just don't see it as much over in Australia.

I grew up in Iowa and Minnesota and I like raw lamb, I hate any type of salad dressing, and DESPISE Macoroni, Pizza, and Soda. Anyone eveer try duck rare? Not sure how healthy it is but me and my dad tried a Mascovi uncooked with mushroom scauce. We cooked the rest for others and it tastes good cooked too. But we tried it first without it cooked and the taste wasn't half bad. Tho yes, cooked was better.

Agreed, agreed. If you've been raised in a place where a certain not so appetizing and delicious to some food is served, you'll have an immunity for it. Whereas other people who weren't raised there and ate that food, they'd really be, more often than not, develop some problems...

I had the raw lamb 1 time at a hunters dinner thing it was fine but I preferred some of the other meats that they had out like the rabbit and other odd dishes that I thought that I would never try. If you want an odd dish try tripe a sheep stomach stew or my fav haggis or blood pudding, yes it has real animal blood in it its good.

I would love to try it. I love to eat meat rare/raw but I will not do it unless I know where it came from. Hence why I buy my beef from a private butcher near school and chicken we buy straight from a reputable farm near home. I only remember eating lamb once and it was cooked, but even then it was delicious. Eating it raw would probably make it that much better.

For the word, I have never gotten sick off raw meat unless you count the nausea from pork, which is why I only eat pig products cooked anymore. Whether the lack of sickness comes from the quality of meat or my immune system, I have no idea. I NEVER EVERY buy supermarket meat...I always try to support the local butcher. End up paying a touch more but the quality is worth it.

Now, since of all this ruckus of all this other crap in food is like all over I stopped eating raw meats too.
