There are wolves out near where I work. I saw them again last night.

I was driving home, and suddenly... there one was! Right at the edge of the road. I jammed on the brakes and it came out in front of the car for a minute, then it continued across the street. And the thing is, it walked into a suburban neighborhood, right down the street.

People around here say that the wolves are extinct. But there they are! These are definitely NOT dogs or coyotes. THey run in packs, they howl when the moon is full, and the LOOK really wolfy. They have grey and brown fur, with dark mottles on the back and creamy markings around the mouth and about the eyes. They have long legs and little triangular ears. They are wolves, and nothing else.

They remind me of werewolves, though, because I only ever see them when the moon is full. I think that with the extra light, they expand their hunting grounds into the parking lot at my job or into the suburban neighborhoods across the street.

But the point is, now somebody who doesn't believe there are wolves here... has wolves in his backyard. People have told me they've seen them in MY neighborhood (hell, in my BACKYARD)... but there's NO WAY they've come that far yet. But it would be nice if they did.

You live any where near wilderness of sorts? Because they might just be going to the city for snacks. Think, a racoon in the city will be fatter and slower because it's full of left over Taco Bell than a wilderness racoon that eats nuts and berries... mmmmm, plump racoon....
It's like steak wrapped in a hat!

Man, Xzengrim! You get all the luck in finding wolves. The biggest event in my backyard was seeing a skunk. Lucky lucky me.

Sounds nice! :) We get a lot of 'yotes out here, being out on the edge of town. We hear them in the desert out behind us on rare occasions. I don't encounter them as much as I used to when I lived on a ranch outside of Santa Fe, but we still do, sometimes.

The only downfall is that we have cats, and they like to, y'know, EAT our cats.

Hey Raven, where'd you get that avatar? That's cool! That's the symbol we were talking about.

Yeah, heh. Most people floating around other forums have their own versions as their avatars (with their pheno in the middle), so I made my own. I'd be happy to send you the Photoshop file of a blank one, if you wanted to make your own.

And, hey - while we're on the topic of avatars, what's your from? It looks insanely familiar, but I don't want to suggest what it's from without knowing. I have this thing about trying not to make an ass of myself (even though it never works, hah).

My avatar is from JACK. It's the best webcomic ever. The picture is of the character Drip, "Jack"'s resident mass murderer serial rapist torture artist. I'm thinking of changing it though, to someone who is a wolf.

OMG, I knew it! I LOVE that comic.

actually, wolves have been making a come back in the states, but we have to know WHERE EXACTLY you are to determine this.

The moon does crazy things to animals and people because there is more light, so it's possible these are just regular wolves who have managed to aviod people during the day. I rarly see foxes, yet they are all over the place

Er, they're brother and sister, and both fixed. For good reason, wolves shouldn't be pets, they're too wild and most people don't know how to take care of them.
