Hm... Probably a psychopathic version of myself (seriously, the only that has held me back from kill people is my self control). I would kill quick, fast, and many. When I'm done with one house, I move on to the next, it's that simple. I could wipe out a small town within a night or so.:D But for an actually serial killer, it would be the zodiac killer.

Ok that is ranking up there with the most idiotic bullshit I've ever heard. Do you have any idea how hard it is to kill someone quickly and fast? I mean what methods would you use? How would you prevent other people in the house from escaping and notifying others which then leads to your arrest? Do you have any idea how tough human skin is? I mean sure you can cut someone but it takes a lot of force to drive a knife into someone and hit a vital spot you have to know precisely where to hit, especially to kill quickly.
Basically what keeps us all from killing people around us are basically OURSELVES. Gods your statement is just so fucking stupid I want to smack you.

Actually it isn't that hard at all to kill someone. Speaking from experience and being in the Army it really isn't as hard as you think to kill someone the human body, all be it is amazing, is pretty fragile. One false twist here or too hard of a hit here and boom your done. Plus if your smart about it, you would plan it out before hand and have all the aspects of it figured out. We all hold the capacity to kill someone physically, morals are the only thing stopping most people and others just fear being caught. Now don't go and think I am a mass murderer and to be nervous around me, I was trained the way I am and the only time I have killed is when I was ordered to, or to protect. I know I am capable of it, but I know better when I should use what I know and when not to. But on topic, some of the serial killers on this list have never been caught so it makes you wonder....

1) Your talking like I am actually thinking about doing something like going on a mass murdering rampage, I'm not. When I said that I would be the worst serial killer, I was joking. It wasn't intended to be taken seriously.
2) I'd use a butcher style knife with a long blade that weighed 5 lbs. I'd make a circle around each house and cut any and all power lines that I see and can acsess without making a lot of noise. When actually kill the people inside the house, I'd just use one fast swinging motion toward the person's neck, most likely while they're sleeping, or I'd get them from behind. After I'm done, I wouldn't just run away into a forrest and let neighbors find their bodies the next day, I'd go over to the neighbors and do the exact same thing.
3) Even though it sounds like I thoguht about this for a while, I haven't. I read your comment last night a then, and only then, did I start to think about it. Why? because A) I didn't want to look like a dumb shit giving answers that were totally unrealistic, and B) because when anyone presents me with a question, no matter how stupid it is, I give an answer because I'm not close-minded and will actually put thoguht into the other person's piont.
4) I WASN'T BEING SERIOUS AT ALL!!!

The average joe is not trained to kill someone. He also hadn't stated any type of planning, he basically said he could take out a whole town in one night all by himself. Which really is most idiotic.
The other factor is that killing people as a defense mechanism and killing them just to kill them are completely different aspects of human nature and there would be factors involved that would give the victim a good chance of survival. In fact the hunter many times can become the prey. Also without using a long range weapon and simply going hand to hand with someone who realizes that you are trying to kill them, you are opening up yourself for one hell of a fight.
Being in the Army you should know that killing someone who doesn't want to die is not easy. I've got a military family, I've dated guys in the military, and out of all of them only the ones who are stupid and trying to show off end up saying that it's easy to kill someone with their bare hands, especially if that person sees them coming.

I agree with some aspects you said. However, one the averge joe like you said DOES NOT know how to defend themselves properly so even if they see someone coming at them to kill them, even with the aderline rushing through them, they still have minuim chance of coming out of it alive against a trained killer. Again, maybe not for the military family, friends, lovers, etc. you have been friends with but for me, BEING IN THE ARMY it was an easy kill, fear only makes people make stupid mistakes.

Couldn't you just use one of those silent guns with a little laser light to help you aim? That would be fast, easy, & there would be hardly any noise. However I'm just taking a wild guess.

If a basketball could really kill someone like that, then they wouldn't allow them in schools because a lot of kids get hit in the head with basketballs, well, at least at my old school. Also, the elderly woman was not a chicken, her body wouldn't have moved after her brain was smashed to pieces. Back on topic, in my opinion the worst serial killer is the zodiac, as I've said before.

Well aside from the descent into the idiotic assumption that its easy on the mind and heart to kill a person, this could be an interseting topic.
I said the Zodiac Killer. Simply because he was probably the oddest person on the list. He left weird cryptograms and symbols, was possibly even SEEN fleeing a crime scene, yet he was never caught. Sheer and utter genius.
Can't believe you left Charlie Manson off the list. And Richard Ramirez. But I'd still pick Zodiac.

Even though he was only convicted of killing two people, Ed Gein was pretty crazy. Between eating, wearing and using skin and body parts for home decor Gein's deserves to be on the list. Most modern horror movies that involve a killer at least have a hint of Gein's story.

Richard Ramirez and Charles Manson should be on the list for sure. (not only because they killed people but because thats where Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez got there names)
and what about Edward Josef Leonski a.k.a The Brownout strangler.
or even though he only killed 2 people i believe Spring Heeled Jack Deserves a metion the sadistic bastard.
i voted Jack The Ripper because of the panic and how much trouble he caused also he was quick and affective to put it that way

Where did I say it was easy on the heart or mind?? Your statement, "idiotic assumption that its easy on the mind and heart to kill a person", is an idiotic statement in itself. Especially if you yourself have never been in that predicament for one, and two everyone feels for things in a different way hence murders, do you think it is hard on there brains or hearts? Not to compare myself with them, but you do what you need to do to survive or are trained to do, so unless your in that situation, you shouldn't speak about what you don't know about or assume it's idiotic.

Very true. Also, different ideas in ethics would change the factors in this drastically. It might even be right to murder to some people (terrorists, for example)

Ok ... Billy the Kid was not a serial killer ... he killed people who made fun of him or did something to piss him off.
William:D
"A serial killer is defined as a person who kills three or more people, in three or more separate events over a period of time. There are gaps of time in between the killings, which may comprise of a few hours up to many years."
and his bio:
Henry McCarty (November 23, 1859[1] – July 14, 1881) was better known as Billy the Kid, but also known by the aliases Henry Antrim and William Harrison Bonney. He was a 19th century American frontier outlaw and gunman who was a participant in the Lincoln County War. He was reputed to have killed 21 men, one for each year of his life.
McCarty was 5'8" with blue eyes, smooth cheeks, and prominent front teeth. He was said to be friendly and personable at times,[2] but he could also be short-tempered and determined. This made him a very dangerous outlaw, when combined with his shooting skills and cunning. He was also famous for (apparently) always wearing a sugar-loaf Sombrero hat with a wide green decorative band. He was little known in his own lifetime but was catapulted into legend in the year after his death when his killer, Sheriff Patrick Garrett, published a wildly sensationalistic biography of the outlaw called The Authentic Life of Billy, the Kid. Beginning with Garrett's account, Billy the Kid grew into a symbolic figure of the American Old West.

You didn't, to my knowledge. My statement was directed against those who said they could be serial killers. You get that kind of thing on the internet. Its a nice little way of looking tough and dangerous. But most often its the staple of teenagers who would piss their pants when confronted with a kill-or-be-killed situation.
Its not a matter of whether its right. Its a matter of whether the people who go around saying they'll kill people really can. It is idiotic to assume that its an easy task. Its not. Do I know from personal experience? No. Though I'm sure someone who does could tell you. But I have a basic knowledge of the human mind. And pretty much everybody is taught that killing is bad. Whereas there are some people that don't accept this at all and others who are either trained to kill anyway or just reject it in extreme circumstances, a lot of people wouldn't be able to. Take ANY Basic complex that society instills in you and see if you can break it easily.

I can see why you would make such a statement because there are lots of people who try to be bad ass and say they have killed or can kill, honestly you can say you can/cannot kill until you turn blue but the truth of the matter is when your in a situation were you have to defend yourself you really don't know. Even being in the military myself trained to do what ever is necassary I didn't think I would actually do it although I knew I was capable of it. When I first did it, I didn't feel anything, your taught to dis-associate yourself and thats what you do, I don't brag about it and it's nothing 'cool' or something to glorify by any means, it's something I had to do in my past and is no longer a part of me in that way. The Army has left it's mark on me, your never really out of the military as far as the way you think and look at things I believe but I know the difference between what I did then and doing it now. Society does teach it is bad to take another life, we are all pretty much brought up that way, just wish terrorist were as well. I respect your opinion and am glad for the clarification.

Following an examination of the bodies at the scene, Chief Medical Examiner Donald Reay determined that all three girls died of strangulation. The two girls found in the water, later identified as Marcia Chapman, 31, and Cynthia Hinds, 17, were both found to have pyramid-shaped rocks lodged in their vaginal cavities. They were both held down by rocks in the water.
