Tibet’s living Buddhas have been banned from reincarnation without permission from China’s atheist leaders. The ban is included in new rules intended to assert Beijing’s authority over Tibet’s restive and deeply Buddhist people.
“The so-called reincarnated living Buddha without government approval is illegal and invalid,” according to the order, which comes into effect on September 1.
So what happens when they reincarnate themselves without permission? Are they killed again?

I guess they don't see the redundancy of this ban. I mean, theoretically if you could reincarnate, then death or imprisonment really wouldn't matter, as you would just reincarnate later, out of their grasp.

Yeah... It's odd... Plus, isn't it really hard to identify the reincarnated? Personally, this rule is stupid and just born out of some kind of religious hate because it really cannot be regulated.

Welcome to the East... where we kill people we consider of rich yet mildly outdated culture and spend our leglislation on erradicating their lifestyles.

lol I would love to see what they do to the people (or even find those people) who reincarnate themselves illegally

All I have to say is "Wow." China is going way overboard with the whole "control" thing...I know they were trying to clean up their image for the Olympics committee, but am not quite knowledgeable of what exactly they did for that. To exert control over a specific region and tighten the reins just because of their religion is kind of going over the top. Especially restricting the priests/bosses/big cheeses from doing what they consider essential to the religion.
Speaking of China (excuse the threadjack), they are going to ban the number "4" from lisence plates because when spoken in the Chinese language, it sounds like their word for "death."
Again, wow.

That's interesting. I have a question: what the hell is their issue with death? You cannot print images of skeletons or skulls in China, and I never could figure out why.

I could totally see babies and/or animals getting arrested for reincarnating illegaly.
