So we're all not arguing and discussing religion in a thread that desperately needs to get back on topic and for the sake of the moderators I am creating this new thread.

It doesn't matter what your religion is, or even if you have one at all. You can give your opinion about your own or even whay you think about other religions. But please, no just coming on to say "I think that THIS religion is a load of crap" or "I don't beleive in THIS religion" or "anyone who beleives in THIS one is a moron", or evil, or retarded. UNLESS you give good reasons as to why you think that. Don't just post crap unless you're going to back it up, mkay?

We should probably try to keep the hate and cursing from going too far as not to upset the mods, but I will say, this thread is to openly discuss religion, preach about your own if you want (as long as it doesn't come to spamming), and yes, if you have enough riding behind your reasons for doing so, even religion bash. But you gotta know what you're talking about if you do resort to bashing.

Feel free to post links. As alot of you know I am on the lines of a Christian, though I can't wholy say I am one due to my cursing, drinking, homicidal thoughts towards my father, and that I've started reading dirty books to help push my writing skills that I'm now starting to like reading. Man, since Mor, UNO, and LV got me wondering about afew things in a sex thread I am starting to get a tad dirty :D. But christianity is the closest thing I have to a religion and I am striving to better myself for it. However, I do LOVE to learn of other religions so I am not anywhere near as close-minded as alot of 'supposed christians' are and will gladfully read any and all links provided no matter the religion they're provided for.

Well, happy bashing, learning, and discussing. I'll let whoever wishes to to start things off, but I think I've typed enough for now. See ya when this gets going. :)

I think he meant "Don't double-thread and don't use Ж, †, Ω".

I don't think the seventh letter of the Bulgarian alphabet, the eighth letter in the Belarusian, Macedonian, Russian and Serbian alphabets, and the ninth in the Ukrainian alphabet, the christian cross character and the Omega Latin letter make any sense together.

That's the point. And sorry for the double post but I never saw one and I only went into edit. Also I have seen the Omega sign and whatever this Ж sign is in a pagan church before. But I won't put em up again. Learn from yer mistakes right :)

The Omega is a greek letter, not latin.

And no, the Ж is from the cyrillic alphabet, it is not a pagan symbol. If you saw it somewhere it is some made up symbol...
Also, I think that the subject of this topic is interesting, but you should throw some facts and ideas into it... Posts like "discuss about this" are not good discussion starters...

This is because the majority of Neo-Pagans know pretty much nothing about pretty much everything spiritual. This is why of the few wiccans who have figured out that the dagger is air, not fire, some have decided to replace it with a feather despite the fact that air represents the cutting through deception.

I've always loved that one of the most fundamental flaws in wicca and neo-paganism pertains to the symbolism of being able to see through the lies and finding the truth.

So yes, if you saw that in a pagan church or temple, then it means someone pulled a religious symbol out of his or her butt, or they just stuck a foreign letter up there, just pulling the reason out of their butt instead of the whole concept.

Lessons: Don't use a symbol without researching it first. Seeing it in a place does not make it actually belong there.

Neopaganism is stupid.

Don't use special characters in titles of posts anyways, it looks really stupid.

I'll remember that from now on. And sorry but I wasn't in the mood to start off the discussion but the mods had been mad at a new member and just thought I'd throw up a new thread for the discussion. I am though working on what I'd like to type and researching other religions.

Oh, as to the Omega symbol and the other one, I saw them in my aunts Masonic lodge when I was in the 5th grade. Also the Megan (not sure if that's right I'll admitt) David was on the main podium. Three of them actually as they are supposed to stand together to mean 666. Thought that was interesting.

Hey, on Masonry. Does anyone have any info on the Free Masons? I am learning mutch about them but would like to get more of an insider's view instead of just outsider close-minded 'Christians'.

I extremely am dubious of this a lot masons are Christian and 666 would still be bad sign for them. Though I am well aware that there are groups that go into the hoodoo of Aliester Crowley's stuff. Most of the Masonic lodges in MN though have strong Christian members.

Please spell "much" correctly. Don't care if you think it sounds better with a "t" mutch is not a word. (in reality there would be no fucking difference in how it sounded. That's just moronic to justify bad spelling with)

Freemasons, one word. It's a Fraternal organization, often shrouded in much conspiracy, though it really depends. I believe that probably each of the different lodges have their own way of doing things though they uphold similar values and rituals, of course.

I don't really see any good unbiased sources for you to truly pursue in learning more about the masons, other than actually going to a lodge and talking to them. If you have a friend who is a Job's Daughter, some lodges will allow guests to attend the princess ordeal that goes on.

I found myself looking through Aleister Crowley's stuff, not that long after I turned Hellraiser fan.

This reminds me of a skit the comedian George Carlin did, where he said:

"My god has a bigger dick than yours!" :)

Neopaganism is stupid.

I wouldn't say that all of NeoPaganism is stupid though. But there are a lot of stupid people in it, you just have to cut though them to find the people that do know something and aren't stupid. And believe that a lot of cutting.

The principles of most NeoPaganism are stupid, such as the common wiccan practice of the athame being representative of fire rather than air, and the idea that it is acceptable to replace it with a feather (in the event that you figure out that it's for air), despite the fact that the element of air is supposed to represent cutting through deception.

Please do present some examples of non-stupid NeoPaganism.

Don't worry I won't. And I do understand what you're saying though.

Why is the announcement that you're not going to fulfill my request prefaced by "Don't worry," as if denying me is going to make me feel better!?

 The confusion is great.

Why does he have to? It's his opinion not fact. If he was to say what parts he believes isn't, and you still think they are stupid, then what? It's still opinions, and no one has the right to say someone elses opinion is stupid especially someone who at least is trying to see things from your point of view.

Where is THAT written? I'm pretty sure we ALL have the right to say that someone else's opinion is stupid.

Morals do not equal rights. You can say "no one SHOULD say that someone else's opinion is stupid", however saying "no one has the RIGHT to..." is something else entirely. This insinuates that doing so is against the law.

Also, I must not follow the same moral code as everyone else because I'll let someone know when their opinion is stupid...

Dude, I was just pointing out that saying "don't worry" doesn't make much sense when it goes along with denying someone what they want to hear.

If he was to say what parts he believes isn't, and you still think they are stupid, then what
Then it would be in the true spirit of this thread?

Do you actually read anything before replying?

Gotta love how this apologises for the confusing statements but also neither clarifies the statements nor addresses Cubby's wise request.
