I did hear that werewolves were cursed souls anyway and if there was a heaven or hell they would be sent straight to the guy with the hooves, goatee and pitchfork.

There is also the side of the story that werewolves were people who chose to become monsters and were in full control of what they did. As you can probably guess these were people like shamen, witches and the like. Aparently, if somone made a deal with the devil they could turn into wolves and were granted wolf form and powers in return for their soul.
