View Full Version : Werewolf Reproduction

I'm new and I have a interesting question, if a were makes love in 'wolf form while his mate is in human form (or vice versa) would that have any bearing on how the children turned out? (In other words, would the dna shift along with the physical form and cause greater/lesser obvious evidence of being a werewolf?) Any opinions you more knowledgeable folks out there can offer are welcome. (as long as you're nice, I'm new after all ;P )

In reference to mythical werewolves:
It would be doubtful that the DNA itself would shift, but rather contain the code for both forms and there would be a trigger as to which one was dominant.
In reference to cursed werewolves:
Myths of people changed via evil curses and whatnot are supposed to actually turn into that other animal, so while shifted they would have fully wolven sperm or eggs, with full wolf DNA, therefore making reproduction physically impossible (though since these shifts are generally caused by someone like Satan, I can see him figuring out how to change that)
In reference to magickal werewolves:
People who change via the body of light don't really shift. It's more like wearing an astral body around your physical form, therefore there isn't any change to DNA. The only way it affects mating is that it's much more kinky.

Sounds like something a furry would think really intensely about.

You make it sound like there's something wrong with that. ;)

Thanks for the info ThrasherCub. And UNODRAGONE, I imagine most do(unless they want a pup ;) ) Also, I am a rather furry person, MorganaFang (literally, that is) Plus, I have much time to ponder, being unemployed as of late. Anyway, I'll leave this thread to whatever happens next now, but I will check back occasionally. Laters, poeple.

Why? Without someone to ask questions (namely, you) this thread probably won't go anywhere.

Well I got an answer.
It wouldn't matter. The "curse" is passed down through the bloodline in that matter.
Yea bring on the flamers. :)

Why would we flame you? It's not like there is any proof of anything, since werewolves are nonexistant. Even if they did exist, no research has been done, or has been made public, so we would just be flaming you for no reason and making a fool of ourselves.

Yeah, no need to flame since we're talking about werewolf reproduction in reference to the "unwritten" workings of myth, not reality.
And no one's going to mind if you take the myths as truth, so long as you don't mention it a bunch. :)
As for the "curse" being passed on, that depends on which legends you look at. Some hold that were-critters are their own unique species which can take both human and animal form, but can only reproduce with other members of this shifting species. Ones where people are literally cursed have a several different suggestions for what would happen in the case of children: they could be weres to, they could be normal humans, they could be born as non-shifting human-animal hybrids, they could be still born every time, the were could be infertile, or the child could be cursed in some other way (such as being born "for" possession by a demon).
Of course, there are cultures in which those who can change were revered, or at least respected from a distance, making it much less curse-like.

My personal beliefe is that werewolves can't hcave children. I don't know where I got it from, because I never really look into werwolf myths and legends, I think it's just the logical idea to me. Although I can't esplain why I think it's logical, so I guess I'm really not being much help... :D

I have a guess. Going with the idea that they have unique cells which contains both human and wolf DNA along with something to trigger the shift, it's always possible that this super-saturation of DNA would cause the sperm and/or eggs to be unstable. Particularly with a non-were mate, as human sperm may not contain enough "information" or even be physically compatible with the egg, and a human egg might grow deformed due to having more than one strain of DNA to work with (which might cause it to try to grow both at once, creating a mangled hybrid), before ultimately aborting due to complications.

Some people flame aimlessly. You should pity them. They have small self images and inferior mental capacity.

Still don't like my posts being ripped apart. Kind of degrading, atleast to me it is.

Theorizing about the non-cursed werewolf I would think that since giving birth to a human baby in wolf form would be difficult if not deadly, that the werewolf would be in human form to give birth to a human baby.

True. Besides the problems for birthing or even the child-mother connection for cross-species children, I imagine that if the mother in question were the werewolf then she wouldn't be able to shift without killing the child.
What an utter shock it would be to the child's system. And once the child reaches a certain size it could prove fatal for child and mother both.

I would say they would be fucked up. Any parent that has sex with a wolf would be concidered a beastophille (or something) and therefore, I suggest unfit for parenting. Equally if they found they were preggers with a monster, would they keep it?

Yeah, then add that it can turn into a snarling little bundle of claws and teeth that doesn't know how to use them but does anyway. Then you have a glimpse at what were-parents would be up against. :D

I think it might go more like this:
Wife:"Honey, YOUR son is trying to kill the cat again!"
Were-Husband:"What? Oh boy, alright,alright, i'll stop him"
Wife:"I dont know what made me think 'doing it' with you in your wolf form would be a GOOD thing!!!"
Were-Husband:"Um honey, you might want to get the mop....."
