So who here thinks that they have had ghostly experiences? I think I have had a couple. The reason why I am making this thread right now is because I have had one of those ghostly smells. No, I didn’t just fart. I felt like I just received a spray of ladies perfume in my face. And NO! I’m not cross-dressing!
Right now…
You know that these things can be visual, smelt, touched or just sensed. These obviously include smells, temperatures, lights, feelings of dread and a whole plethora of paranormal placebos. Anything to get the subject off those dreadful four legged buggers.

I don't care if you don't believe me. I was walking on a night of a new moon. It was around eight pm, yes I remember the time and I even use to remember the date, when me and a friend were walking on the backroads at the edge of town. We decided to turn back and when we turned around my friend told me to look down the road. On the hill was an object that was almost transparent. All I seen was the back end as it ran down the hill, that or it dissapeared I don't know I blinked and it was gone. It had a tail, that was oddly wagging, and it had ears. It stood on two legs and it was white in colour, though that could of been for the fact it was standing under by a light. I know what it sounds like, but I have no idea what it is. Only time I seen it too.

From 3 to 11 years old I lived in this old one story ranch house. I used to hear sounds of people walking slowly in the hallway. It would keep me up at night. I wrote it off as an overactive imagination.
Well when I was around 14 I was talking to my sister about our old house, and she mentioned that it was haunted. Apparently she also heard footsteps in her room, and sometimes felt a prescence at the end of her bed. Kind of strange that we both heard the same footsteps yet never talked about it until years later. I don't really attribute it to my imagination anymore because my sister is 5 years older. I doubt she would have imagined something like that.

Yes, yes indeed I have had close encounters of a paranormal kind. There are several but they are pretty long stories though.
So back in the day when I was a wee lass living in rural Illinois, we lived in this small three bedroom house. Well every so often, about once a week or so, at exactly the same time, something odd would happen.
This is the first night I ever saw it happen.
So one night I'm sitting on this ugly old green velour couch watching TV. Now the couch was along one wall and the TV was on another and the hallway was just to the right of the TV. So I'm on the couch facing the TV but closer to the hallway and I see a woman walk down the hallway with her back to me. Now down that hallway were 3 bedrooms and a bathroom and no other way to get out. No exits or anything. And the front door was to the left of me as I sat on the couch. So this woman, a pale woman in gray, walks down the hallway and opens the bedroom door on the left. She looks in and then closes the door and goes to the bedroom at the end of the hallway and opens the door, looks in, and closes the door. Then she opens the doorway on the left which is the master bedroom, goes in, and disappears. So my cousin who was with me at the time, ran down the hall with me on her tail and flings the bedroom door open to the master bedroom, and no one is there.
We searched the house and looked all over and finally my cousin calls my mother and tells her what happened and my mother tells her that it's nothing to worry about. Turns out, that happened all the time. I wasn't the only one to see it and in fact people who stayed over frequently saw her just like we did. She never changed what she did and never paid any attention to us even if we yelled at her. She just checked each room before going to bed.

When I first bought my house I found all kinds of satanic symbols and dried up plants in the basement (I was cleaning out the shit the previous owner left). Ever since I have removed all that junk I swear at least once a month I hear someone running up and down the stairs in the basement. One time I got brave enough (and pissed off enough) I ran to the basement door and swung it open. I didn't see anything but I still hear the foot steps from time to time

Until I was 8 I lived in the old house by the train tracks. The story goes that the people who lived there before had a 17 year old daughter who was killed on those train tracks. This part always creeped me out but the parents of the girl had purchased the railing that she dies on and had it bolted to the back sidewalk of the house.
So my situation was that the sidewalk was right by my room. I admit (this is weird but I never knew any better) that I slept in the same room as my parents until I was 13. But I would take naps and hang out in my room. So I always thought I had an older sister. Cause she was always there! Just this tall girl with long blond wavy hair. She never did anything bad to me I mean sometimes she played with me in my room. But I don't think she liked some of my friends. She would throw things at them and I would tell her to stop and my friends were like "Who the heck is she talking to?"
Okay this is in the same house... No one believes me on this one but I had a sleepover party with 2 friends at my house (they will support me with this story cause they saw it too) and as we layed down on the pullout bed in the living room, something moved. This was a really old house so I blew it off to be maybe a cochroach or something. I loved animals, and I had so many beanie babies its not even funny:cool: yeah and well something moved again and we looked and it was this one cat stuffed animal named 'Scat'. The frikkin thing got up on all fours and started crawling toward us. My friends were freaking out, I was kind of in shock I mean I've always wished my toys were alive. But so it walked toward us and it made a noise, then it sat, then it leaped up into the air, hit the ground, and went still again. Of course we went running and screaming into my parents room and had my dad take it away.
I acually still have that stuffed animal... but yeah... those are my past experiences! Lol currently I am dealing with a poltergiest problem, I mean this thing is out of control, but I guess I'll post that story up tomorrow

Alright everyone, storytime from Sabie!!
Okay, now I think I have a personal poltergiest. It seems to be most active at night, but I guess that could just be because during the day I can blame the actions on other people. So when I'm laying in my bed, there are these sounds. I've lived in this house for years so I know what sounds it makes. But these are different. Sometimes it sounds almost like someone tripping over my stuff, or just ruffeling the curtains. I know sounds aren't that exciting but there's more! A few weeks ago right when I layed down to go to bed, my pillow was flung out from under me and onto the floor.
I have that fear of grabbing things off the floor near my bed when I'm in it... I just get this feeling a hand is going to shoot out and grab mine. But that's just in my head lol.
Another thing that happens quite alot is someting tugs at my blanket. This is a little more common among ghost stories.
It follows me where ever I go though. To school, to friends' houses. Last week I spent the night at m friend Rachel's house and one of her 'Nightmare Before Christmas' figures was thrown across the room at us. We were the only people in the house!
The scariest thing so far is I was in the shower, and the soap got knocked over (this could have easily been my fault) but them when I turned to pick it up, there was someone IN THE SHOWER with me!! It was just like this 3 dimensional shadow and almost immedietly it shot out of the shower and slowly crossed my bathroom and out the door. Now THIS scared the living crap out of me. The rest of the stuff I can deal with but that, wow it just, it really freaked me out.

Where do I being… first off my mom is a registered medium… so one day I was in the woods sitting on a rock that I called “elephant rock” (it looked like a elephant laying down…named it when I was younger) with my back to the woods facing my house just thinking. All of a sudden I hear a leaves crunching so I look around and there is this guy standing there wearing a all-white suit. I FLIP OUT and run to the house. I knew it was not normal…like a person… I also knew he wasn’t evil or anything, but my instincts took over me and I RAAAAAAN… now that I reminisce about it I believe that it is my “angle” “spirit guide” what ever you want to call it.
Again I was playing with my dog along side the woods in my back yard I was out there again and he showed up where I saw him the last time, again I freaked and ran. I was scared… well that was about 2-3 years ago. I am just starting to “open up” again I used to be really susceptible to spirits I had many imaginary friend and when I “did need the anymore” they always went threw a door and I never saw them again. I believe that I was “crossing them over”… you can believe what you want but that is what I believe….

I've probably said these before but anyway:
Frightening First
I was around 4 years old. It was in the night and I was having trouble getting to sleep. At that time I was afraid of the dark so the door to my room was left open and the landing light was left on. I shared my bedroom with my brother but his bed was set in an alcove, at night it becomes completely pitch black there, so the light didn't bother him. My bed was set at a corner and the door at the opposite corner so my own shadow would be cast against the wall by the window (the street outside didn't have any lampposts and the curtains were closed so no light came from the window either, just the landing light through the doorway).
Next to my bed is a toychest. It was a simple thing, white with blue lid and farmyard animals and clouds printed around the bottom. It also had parts on either side that stood straight up with a piece of wood between, like a wooden banner. It wasn't that great of a toychest, but it wasn't a high quality mass-produced thing, it was handmade and bought for next to nothing from some carpenter in town.
One night, as I lay awake trying to sleep, I noticed movement by my head. I turned on to my belly and looked. I saw the shadow of a head turned sideways. Even at that age I knew about shadows, so I checked around. My brother was still in his pitch black alcove breathing heavily (when he sleeps he breathes heavily, but had his adenoids or tonsils out and couldn't snore, but it's the same breathing as snoring). The landing was clear, the window lightless, and my own shadow was, as normal, on the side wall. So I couldn't fathom whose shadow was on the wall by my head. I watched, without moving, as this shadow moved. I also noticed it had shoulders but the rest went below my headboard and couldn't be seen. It lifted a hand which held a pen or something like one. On the shadow of my toychest's "banner" it 'drew' a worm/caterpillar/thing which came 'alive'. With a finger he stroked it but the worm fell off, disappearing. It drew another and petted that one but that too fell off. The thing's hand clenched and it drew another hastily but that also did a leming's leap to doom. It seemed to get angry. It turned and became like a mask - the eyes were 'holes' in the shadow. The mouth opened, again like a hole, but showed very large, menacing, sharp teeth. The shadow face started to move forward, it came off the wall to only inches from my own, before I bolted it out of there. I ran to my mother's room and stayed there. It wasn't there the next night but it took weeks before I could sleep in that room again.
Scary Second
Same bedroom, same age, merely months later. Once again wide awake at night, same arrangement and everything. As I lay on my back staring at the ceiling wondering why my body seemed to be nocturnal (not that I knew the word nocturnal but retrospectively I was thinking about it). I noticed something to my right and turned. I don't think I breathed for a record-breaking time, I saw a shadow, a full man's shadow, sitting on my toychest. This was off the wall, like a ghost in movies only black. It seemed to be resting its elbows on its knees with its head in his hands like it was upset. I was almost sympathetic until it stood, turned towards me and took out a large knife, grew in size up to the ceiling, and came at me. I don't think I had ever moved so fast in my life. I didn't sleep in that room for several days but eventually I did. I never had any more encounters in that room.
Terrifying Third
We were living in a new place. It was a large house by a farm out in the countryside. My room, the smallest of the bedrooms, was still quite large. I didn't have much stuff (I wasn't a "I want... I want..." kind of kid) so all of it was on one side of the room against the far wall, and my bed was on the other with the headboard near the door. I was about six years old, going on seven.
I had just gotten into bed, it was around 9pm. I still feared the dark but not as much, so while the landing light remained on, my door would be almost closed. The rest of my room goes pitch black because the window faced trees and such - no starlight or moonlight ever came through the window plus we would have a curtain on just for decoration.
I lay there and looked out into the darkness. In the middle by where I judged the far wall to be, where my toychest would be, came a man. I think it was a man. I wasn't sure how I could see it - there was no light to see by. But it seemed like the darkness itself shaped the man to my eyes. He carried a tray, I couldn't discern much of what was on that tray, I noticed a jug and possibly a beaker like a class or cup or something. I couldn't see his face but his overall frame lead me to believe it was a man. With the stature and tray he seemed like a butler. He was saying something, his otherwise featureless face's mouth was moving to words but there wasn't any sounds. He span, not fast, in a counter-clockwise direction in place without moving anything except his mouth to soundless words. Every few turns he would come forward a little. He made it to little over halfway across the room before my fear overcame me and I shouted for mother. The instant the handle was touched the man disappeared.
That night I slept with the door wide-open.
Freaky Fourth
I was twelve now living in a new home. It was much smaller and my room was tiny. I still had my bed in a corner and the toychest was near it below a window. I had my own tv which rested opposite my bed, slightly turned. By this time I had realised my toychest's banner was actually a back rest so you could use the toychest as a chair since it was sturdy enough. We had a MegaDrive gaming console (Sega Genesis to you Americans) so the TV was turned to face both my bed and the toychest so that if both me and my bro wanting to play we could - one (usually me) would sit on the toychest and the other on the bed and we'd both have clear view of the screen.
One day, around one o'clock in the afternoon I was in my room about to leave. I saw my tv and froze. I was careful to check the TV was off - it was. When my tv was off it had a red standby light just below the screen and it was on, the TV is on when the light is off. The light was on so what I was seeing wasn't from some TV channel. Although, I couldn't actually get any tv channels on my tv - not plugged into the cable nor had any aerial and it wasn't tuned. All channels of the TV would show the snow screen, I only used the TV for watching videos and playing games. So my mind was frantic wondering why I had no reflection and there was a monster sitting inbetween my toychest and bed on the TV. Normally there's a side-table between them with a lamp on, but in the TV's reflection that was also gone and replaced with a large creature.
I don't know what it was. It had a man-like body but with a bull's head only the horns were different. And it lacked skin. You could see in clear detail veins and muscle tissue and even bone in some places. The eyes were pure black, but not like empty just like the eyes were black orbs. It's human-like hands had long sharp talon like claws. And...
It was playing cards. O.o
It had a pile of large cards on my bed and a pile on the toychest with some in one hand. It would pick one up from the bed, look at it comparing it to its hand, look at me then shake it's head slowly, almost sadly, then place the card on the toychest face down. It did this for several cards until I eventually remembered I had legs and bolted it.
I didn't return for hours and when I did I covered the screen with a cloth when it wasn't in use. The thing wasn't there and I never saw it again, but it was such a frightening sight and something insanely foreboding about it I didn't want to risk seeing it again. It took years before I stopped covering the TV.
By that time we had gotten rid of the toychest. Never had another encounter again. Strange that.
Funny Fifth
I don't consider this an encounter but it's worth mentioning. In our previous house about four years ago we had a labrador named Sooky and a very large fridge freezer with an in-built ice machine. Next to the fridge is an empty corner. Well, one day we heard Sooky barking consistently. Mum checked first and called me down later. We were both looking curiosly at Sooky barking like a guard dog at an empty corner. We both joked maybe she (Sooky was female) was seeing a ghost. Mum casually and mockingly goes "hello? Anyone there? If somebody's there please give us a sign!" - she watched way too much Most Haunted. ~_~ But right at that precise time of requesting a sign, a piece of ice shot out from the fridge's ice thingy. I had never known my mother to move so fast. Sooky stopped barking then, and I was hanging onto the side counter trying to stay upright from laughing so much at it.
Neither of us believe it was a ghost or anything, most likely a piece of ice was stuck making the machine make a small noise which Sooky could hear and we couldn't (or simply didn't) with the rest being timing.
In truth I will not say for certain any of my actual encounters were ghosts. They could have been tricks of the light or mind or an overactive imagination (not unusual). They only thing that makes them stand out is: they all focused on my toychest and I was wide-awake at the time plus any rational explanation seems unable to fit the circumstance. I won't say they were ghosts, but I wouldn't be closed to the idea either. ;)

I was around 14 years old and 2 friends and I were playing with a Ouija board and a tape recorder, everything was going normal, we were asking questions and getting answers when almost at the end of the session the Ouija board started going crazy but each one of us thought that the other one was making it up, when we finally dismiss the spirit we started to perceive a very strong smell "like flowers" and such smell lingered for a while we couldn't explain how such smell could get in to a close room and our biggest surprise was when we played back the tape... We actually could hear a female voice like a whisper answer all the questions we asked. I really don't know if this was an "experience from beyond" but until today I can't find a rational explanation for what happened that day and we never played the Ouija again.

One night I was laying down on my bed staring at the floor and a phantom white arm suddenly reached out from under it, I leaped from my bed and ran while looking back and seeing someone looking angry, I think it wanted to sneak attack me. Anyways, when I came back, it was gone.

I have an experience!
Back when I was about seven or eight, I lived in this house that was about a hundred years old. It may have been that fact, but every now and again, the stairs to the attic would creak, and then it would sound as though someone was walking to the living room, and then back up the stairs.
Once, when I was thirteen, I decided to be brave enough and go looking. There was a little girl, no bigger than I was, with a white nightgown. Imagine, if you will, the chick off of The Ring, only with blood instead of black water, and she looked perfectly normal otherwise... well, she didn't have the broken fingernails or anything, and her face wasn't contorted. She just looked at me and asked, "Mommy, why don't you love me? Why didn't you stop Daddy from hurting me?"
I looked at this apparition and ran to my bed, pulled the covers over my head, but I couldn't go to sleep, cause every time I closed my eyes I had this vision of a chick that (creepily enough) looked a lot like me trying to protect this kid from a man from beating her head in with a hammer. He was yelling about how we'd all be better off dead, and then he hit the chick who looked like me, and she didn't get up, and then he killed the kid, who wouldn't stop screaming for her mommy to get up and save her.
It gets better. Every six months, EVER since, this chick shows up and asks me why I didn't love her enough to save her. It's like friggin' clockwork, and it doesn't care who else is around. So, naturally, my friends have either seen or felt her. I keep telling her that I'm not her mother, but she doesn't believe me.
Imagine how incredibly freaked the hell out I was when I saw The Ring for the first time.
Yeah, I know a lot of you won't believe me on this one, but it's completely true. At least now I can talk to it instead of cowering in the nearest corner, and invoking whoever to protect me.
Random question, though, one that makes me shudder; what if I'm the reincarnated form of her mom?

I have a weird connection to my family farm house, which the family sold years ago. Lately, however I have been having dreams about it frequently, it may be me trying to work out some psychological problem I have or it could be the ghosts of my ancestors trying to get me to pay a visit. The prior seemingly more logical but still I feel spooked.
There are ghosts there, the women of previous generations use to cook in the kitchen long after they were dead. You could always smell fresh bread being made, or some really delicious confection that was not of our time.

Or that people share stories and beliefs. Even if every single person on the planet believed in something doesn't make it real nor prove its reality.
It just means there's a lot of people with the same opinion.
The Cat
02-21-2008, 05:35 PM
I once saw a spirt or something similar when I was young. I was walking around in the woods near the house where I used to live. I would always play with my cat out in the woods, and she knew her way around because she would always hunt and stuff, so once she led me to this clearing I named Cat Clearing because she showed me where it was. We would usually play there because it was our special spot. Once she got hurt really badly by some sort of animal and had to go to the vet and stay there, they said that she had a slim chance of making it, and I decided to go to Cat Clearing because I was sad she was hurt. I was sitting on this large fallen branch near the edge, now it would probably break under me, but back then it was fine, it was propped up where it got caught on another tree. All of the sudden I got that feeling of someone staring at me and I turned in the direction, behind me, and saw the form of a cat sitting in a tree. It looked just like my cat. I said my cats name and it jumped down from the tree and came up to me and rubbed against me in the way that cats do. Suddenly it vanished.
Later when we got our cat back, she survived luckily, the vets said that her heartbeat had stopped for a few moments.
It could have been my imagination that I saw her, but I don't think so, I was never the imaginary friend type, and I could feel her and she was completely solid until she just vanished.

When I was a kid, about 6 or 7 years old I shared a room with my two brothers who at the time would have been 9 and 11. In the one bedroom there was three single beds, two next to eachother with the headboards on the chimney breast and then one at the end of these two against the wall opposite the chimney. The other things in the room would have been two wardrobes built into the alcoves next to the chimney, the curtains which were drawn, and a tall cupboard and clothes rack behind the door.
Well, me and my two brothers all seen one night a "red man" roll across the bedroom floor, he went from underneath my brothers bed to underneath my bed and then back again. We all screamed in terror and jumped onto my bed, and were standing in the middle of the mattress when he rolled back under mine. When my parents started making noise he made one final big roll right across the room and seemed to vanish through the wall underneath the window.
I can't be sure how this episode ended, I think my dad came running into the room and flicked the light on and didn't find a thing. Also too, one of my brothers said later on that to him it looked like the man wasn't rolling on our floor, like he was on a floor a couple of inches lower than ours and a small part of his body was hidden underneath the floorboards.
You might find the phrase "red man" sounds a little stupid, but that is honestly as he appeared, and my two brothers and I all agree on the fact. The night was as dark as any other night, with only the light from the bathroom out on the landing illuminating the room. The man appeared as you could just vaguely make out his extremities, but he didn't have a face or hair and his arms where tucked in to his chest with his legs out straight.
I have never been able to come up with an explanation to this story.

I've had one ghostly animal experiance, it happened when I was visiting a friend at the trailer park his grandpa owned, it was dark outside, and me, Taylor, he's the friend I was visiting, and his couson Terra, A.K.A Terra the terrible, and we were walking around. When we reached a pile of tires, we saw something, an opposum. We ran back inside and got a hatchet and went back, Taylor then threw the hatchet at the opposum, and to our bewilderment, it went straight through it, and then chased us.
But just because it chased us, doesn't mean we didn't go straight back, we did a pattern of getting stuff, going to the tires, throwing stuff though it, running when it chased us, and going to get more stuff. But eventually we stopped.
