I have been a christian most of my life and found myself drifting from it. A friend introduced to me to wicca and I can't find anyone that is into it anymore. Does anyone know any good sites about wicca?

Why did you drift away?

I never really flowed with any religion until one of my friends told me she was a witch. My beliefs never really had a name to it until I found out that they run along the same lines as Wicca. I converted because of that.

Hi Dark Fang :)
I am pagan, but I follow the path of wicca more. I don't usually identify myself with being wiccan because then people think of that whole media-warped version of it.
I've been practicing for nearly six years now. If you need any help at all, or have some questions, I am more than willing to share my knowledge. PM me anytime :)
Brightest blessings to you,
Nicoletta

I guess I drifted away because it just wasn't as interesting anymore. I'm not really sure why. And when one of my friends gave me a book on wicca I realized that it seemed better than christianity. I mean christianity says magick is evil and I have never seen it that way. I need a little advise, my parents are christians and I haven't told them I am wiccan yet because my step-dad got mad at my step-brother for talking about evolution!

I became drawn to Wicca imediadtly, becouse i have always wondered what it was like to be one. I was eight years old when i first herd of Wicca. I was going to a Cristian school too, so i kept my curiosity to myself. six years later, here i am,and Right now i am researching all about Wicca and Magick, becouse not only am i one, but i want to speciallize in wicca when i am an archiologist. I think it would come handy as to studding the past of wicca, and being one curnetly.
I want to learn more about Wicca too. Too many people misunder stand it, and so many other religions. Besides, if someones' giving me shit acout religions, i want to rub in there ingnorant little faces!

My parents too, only my mom belives in evoluttion. I decided that i will tell her when i am older, but you know, just becouse i am a wiccan, doesn't mean i don't belive in God, i just don't belive in some of the things i was taught.Like i don't belive in satan, or that just becouse you have different belifs, your gonna go to hell.
I do however, belive that whatever you blelive in, is as real as you belive it to be. That is what i belive.

Child_shade, you do realize that you do not have to post three different posts in order to quote three different people? All you have to do is copy and past what you want to quote. Then, write [QOUTE=name of person] before the quote and [/QUOTE] after the quote.
And you are not Wiccan. You, who think that "wemen" should rule the world, are just an ignoramus. Wiccans believe that males and females are equal. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. We believe that, if we work together, we can combine our strengths, forming a better world. You have not shown that you believe that. Calling yourself Wiccan does not make you a Wiccan.
Dark Fang - www.witchvox.com (http://www.witchvox.com) is an excellent site. I recommend books more than websites though. If it is possible, I recommend that you read Wicca: a guide for the solitary practicioner and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham.

Wow, does anyone get tired of trying to crack the code that this person has written, to decipher this unknown language? I got about half way through and quit, I dont know about you but I get sick and tired of trying to decipher. [/sarcasm]

This post is for the one calling herself Dark Fang alone..i've been led to tell you and you only this..In the world, there are many voices. The path you choose to follow is your own, even the King of heaven will not make you choose Him. Sadly, many other voices from many other religions and gods have a better testimony than those who follow the Most High God.. christians are some of the most hypocritical people on the planet, proclaiming "Get right or get left, my way or the highway!"...you know the drill. We spit on homosexuals..burn abortion clinics..are racist,...but, the fact remains,No werewolf, wiccan, Santa Claus or any other name that can be named, hung on a cross for you..Jesus of Nazareth did. People will always let you down..Christ won't.

Does anyone have advice on whether I should tell my parents? My step-dad will kill me and my mom I'm not so sure about. They're probably going to find out eventually and I would rather them find out by me than by my step-brother. What should I do?

Try to sneak it into a conversation when it feels right. I never told my parents and they eventually found out anyway. Let's just say it caused a huge stir-up and I regret not telling them.

You might as well tell them. If they are going to get upset there isn't a whole lot you can do except maybe tell them in a situation where they can't behead you on the spot. On the other hand you don't want to be sitting around the table for Xmas with everyone's mouth full of turkey when you tell them either. The carving knives are way too close for comfort. The best way is to sit them down and tell them how you feel about the religion you grew up with and how you feel about this new religion. Don't make it seem all spells and magick and don't mention the word witch. The image of Satan will appear in their heads and you will be sent from one shrink to the next. Calmly, rationally, and intellectually. Me I did it both ways. I told my egg donor at Thanksgiving dinner that I was no longer a christian. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. She threw a huge fit and I thought the roof would collapse.
For my dad and his family I told them very calmly and explained why I didn't believe anymore and they took it fairly well. They don't make me go to church, they don't insist that I believe in god and they don't shove it down my throat or call me a heretic either. I make concessions, I go to church on special occassions not because they ask but because I know it will make my dad's family happy. Occassionally my aunt and uncle think they have to try and save my soul but then I argue with them using their own bible and they eventually give up.
They either accept you or they don't but if you keep from inciting a screaming match you are more likely to win your case.

Hmm Xmas, that's not a subject many take lightly.

What's the difference between power animals, totem animals and familiars? Is there a major difference? How can I find out what my power animal is? Where can I find a familiar? In Brother Bear the totem animal helps you become a man/woman, is this true in real life? I know its a lot of questions but if anyone has the anwser to at least one of them I would be very grateful. Oh yeah, one more question how many times does something come back on you? I have heard of three but a lot of people I talk to say it is ten. Which is it?

Power animal: an animal which you can take on attributes to help you throughout your daily life (ex: if you have Fox as a power animal, you will be able to have small spurts of cleverness)
Totem animal: an animal that comes to you in physical or spiritual form that teachs you a lesson. For instance, Deer teaches gentleness and sensitivity.
Familiar: The animal companion of a witch/sorceror/wizard (both in fiction and, in some cases, reality). The witch/sorceror/wizard has a psychic connection with his/her familiar, allowing them to communicate telepathically.
Native American males go through a vision quest around puberty. A vision quest involves fasting, praying, and being secluded for however long it takes for a totem to appear to you. Knowing your totem doesn't make you a man, it is simply a ritual - a step in becoming a man.
"Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good" It's part of the Wiccan Rede.

I would really recommend trying not to let on too much until there is a suitable alternate living environment available, hopefully you won't need it but I've known people that have had a lot of trouble in this field. However you will find no matter how explosive their initial reaction parents usually come around to accepting you.
Not that I'm advocating moving out prematurely, but it can be necessary when going against a parents religion especially where step-parents are involved. If it does come to that make it as temporary as possible. Just don't let them compromise your beliefs. If you plan on going to uni or whatever your equivalent I would wait, try to get on campus living arrangements, and tell them at that point. Unless you're sure your step-brother will tell them before that time.
When telling my parents I had it very easy (I'm not wicca). I was born, baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Catholic. But I never believe in the Catholic Church. For example when I was 7 or 8 I had a massive argument with a priest about the fairness of native Australians born before Australia was settled being sent to hell for not following Jesus' teachings.
When I was about 20 I told my mum that I was going to find my own religious path. She smiled and said 'it's about time'. She then gave me a few books she had on the Celts.
16 years of Mass every Sunday, I was even in the damn choir. And all along she was studying Celts. It turned out that everyone in my family leaves the Catholic Church at around 19. So I was fortunate.
