OK, just click on the link and take the survey. Then when you've answered all the questions along with how important each one is to you, hit submit to view which canidate that you have the most opinions on the major issues in common with.
For Me, I got Hillary in first place with 16.0, Ralph Nader in second with 12.0, Barack Obama in third with 11.0, Mike Gravel 8.0, John McCain 5.0, Bob Barr 3.0, and Ron Paul 0.0.
EDIT: I retook the survey becuase I noticed that I missed a question, and my alignment stayed pretty much the same, but with different scores and Bob and Pual switching. It turns out that I have a 24 for hillary and an 18 for both Ralph and Barack.

this test seems flawed, I have been following the debates and were I say I am in favor of certain things, the test says so is (cringes) Clinton when she outwardly was opposed to these ideas in her speeches.
Obama - 13
Clinton - 12
McCain - 10
Gravel - 7
Barr - 4
Nadar - 4
Paul - 4

I say no candidate. There is really no one who is worth voting for. We are in trouble no matter who wins this election.
Time to actually take the survey now.
Results: Obama: 19
Gravel: 18
Clinton: 17
McCain: 16
Nader: 14

I need a "build your own canidate" application. That way amendment rights aren't violated, Communism isn't upheld, and idiotic wars can be avoided.

Yeah, people around here better not make dumb judgements of others based on a simple test, because honestly I don't pay much attention to these Candidates. Although I should, I've just got better & more interesting things to do(not right now obviously). I don't favor anybody, and truthfully I don't like to waste my attention on celebrities of any kind! THEY'RE ALL STUPID!!!!!!!!! However when the time comes for little crazy ol me to vote, then yeah I will focus a bit more on these people but for now they can shrivel up and die for all I care.

Hell, Michigan? Hell, Minnesota? Hell, Arizona? Cause I know it's gotten a bit cold up (or down) in those places. So McCain, ay? Does that mean you're a Bush supporter?
Anyway, let's go OBAMA!!!

Screw Obama. Lets all vote for Chriz. If he runs this damned place without going insane, I'm sure presidency will be no problem.

Not so much. I don't rabidly hate him like a lot of his opponents do, but I'm not particularly impressed with him, either. But since I don't rabidly hate him, a lot of his opponents come away with the impression I'm more supportive of him than I am. I didn't vote for him either time, but neither did I vote for Gore or Kerry. I prefer to vote 3rd party.
I favor candidates that seem like they'll shrink the federal government, mainly by cutting back on both taxes and spending. Republicans give a lot of lip service to that (although neither of the Big Two have any interest in doing it), so I end up coming out on the Republican side in most of these kinds of tests. But like I said, the Republican Party isn't particularly effective at actually doing it, so in the end I don't vote for their candidate.
It leaves me voting for some nutcase like Harry Browne, but that's ok. It's the closest thing to getting a "none of the above" in the election. Simply sitting home and not voting at all makes me more or less invisible. But voting 3rd party records that my vote happened, but it doesn't go to either of the major candidates. If enough people did that, the Big Two might start to realize their positions aren't as secure as they thought.

I have two problems with voting third party. I fear that no one will ever give them enough votes for them to really matter. Many people that I know have only heard of the Democratic and Republican parties. They have forgotten that we have the Independent Party, the Green Party, and so on and so forth. Moreover, I have even heard that those parties are "extinct", which I am disappointed by. They are politically ineffective, and I think that's sad. It seems to me that people with common sense and a TRUE want for change should revitalize those parties, and change the country that way.
The other problem with voting for a different party is that Republicans and Democrats have wealthy backers, both by the people who actually are in office, and the special interest groups that finance them. With the money comes power, and they tend to "silence" those from other parties. I have even heard people go as far as to say that some "Green Party" members are just dilluted (sp?) Democrats, and therefore should just vote Democrat. The problem with this assessment is that their voice isn't properly heard when they have to compromise in such a fashion.
I end up being one of those people, because I would rather having at least some of my views upheld in the Legislature, Senate and White House, than none of them at all. I just wish that more voices were heard than those who have quite a bit of money.

I don't vote 3rd party with the expectation that the person I vote for will ever make it to office. I vote 3rd party because I really don't want either of the big candidates to win, so I can't in good conscience vote for them.
And I think that if enough people voted 3rd party (even if they're not voting for the same 3rd party candidate), that would begin to send a message to Washington that we're looking for some new options rather than the same old thing.
Despite his rhetoric about "change," Obama is pretty standard.

This. When Washington sees lots of people attracted to something about a third party, they tend to incorporate it into their own agenda (Perot). Plus, if you live in a state thats 99% likely to vote blue or red, you're basically doing the exact same thing as voting third party since your vote essentially doesn't count and it's a feel good statement.
Swing state, different story.
The other great thing about being a third party voter is you get to troll both democrats and republicans while being a snobby dick about it. It's kind of like being a macintosh user in the 90s. You pretty much lose at everything, but your superiority complex knows NO BOUNDS

But that's only a problem if you expect your 3rd party vote to count in the current election.
You're fooling yourself if you don't think the winners (and moreso, the losers) are poring over the different states' popular vote results, looking for something to give them an edge next time.
I don't mind if the Big Two incorporate ideas from 3rd party candidates. That's kinda the idea...

Indeed. I get the pleasure of always being able to say "Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy..."

OK, to get this back on topic (though it hasn't strayed that far off topic at all), here's another little link (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/candidate-match-game.htm?loc=interst itialskip)that centers around Obama and McCain and which one shares the most opinions as you. The cool thing about this is that you can see, as you answer each question, which canidate you align with and how far you align with one vs the other.
