What do you think? Is religion the base power of love and hate? Some families will disown their child or children because they marry into a family of a different religion. Do we only love because our chosen religion comands us to? Or do we really go through love because of emotions? Are emotions just manipulations from the bible?

religion is an attempt to govern and direct emotions in a constructive manner. To raise individuals according to the cultural do's and dont's of their era/region/ethnic background. It helps to avoid chaos and establish an organized community with similiar morals and ethics. That was the ideal. The results more often than not, were tragic. :(

Well... I do believe that religion does put a set of rules on who we SHOULD love... not our actual feelings, though you could say that by proxy they do control our emotions..e.e. someone with homosexual urges would feel ashamed and most likely hide these feelings... because it is wrong in the churches beliefs... oh well

Before the more "oraganized" religions were born the earlier forms of religion perceived homosexuals as being powerful holy men and women or shamans. They thought that the creator or spirits had placed the spirit of both a man and a woman in one body and made a sort of "super" person who was capable of communing with the creator better than others. These people were supposedly strong spiritually and capble of traveling the spirit world to find answers and ways of guiding their people safely through life.

Religon is a way for people to see beyond their own views. I have no way to say if what they view is real, but, be it through concentration, belief, or purpose, religon affects everyone that focuses on it.

Emotion, nemai, is not made by religon. Religon was created by human emotion as a biproduct. Love and hate, however you consider both to exist, were there before religon, and beside religon. Religon is no force against emotion; in the case you gave, the decision was made over fear, not over the beliefs of a religon

Homosexuals are strong spiritually...they have to be if they have any hope of coming away unaffected from the hatred and persicution (sp?) caused by homophobics.

Does it really matter? It's still a discussion.

Does it really matter? It's still a discussion.50 points for you. No, seriously. I really appreciate a refreshing attitude like that. :notworthy

And ignoring the comments of others doesn't have a damn thing to do with being strong spiritually. It's about recognizing that their opinions don't really matter when it comes to basic needs in life.

The origial state of life is Chaos, nothing is ever peaceful, or at least for long. Trying to deny this fact is pointless. Our emotions have been the driving force of our actions and ways. To maminpulate this basic power is easy, just give a story and some will believe. That is religion, maniputlation of one's emotions and beliefs. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the way a person percieves the idea.

Who knows, perhaps God is like Deathevn (Breath of Fire 2) where there are minions trying to unleash his evil upon the world and he needs our strengh. very complictated plot of that game, but you see how religion has manipulated my emotions? I loath the christian faith, but i can't say arrogently that there isn't God or a higher power, thus i am an agnostict. Or however you spell that

Recap on the this post,

religion = manipulation of emotions and beliefs
orignial state of life is chaos

but then again that's my religion
