I've written out and explained MY prophetic dreams (dreams that tell the future) so many times that I feel a headache coming even thinking about writing the same ones so I'll give 1 of my recent ones and other people should list theirs, too!
Well, back in the summer of 1999 I had about 4 or 5 dreams that were clear and very blunt, followed by 3 or 4 more symbolic ( or where only 1 or 2 of the images I saw in the deam showed up in real life ). I figured I'd deciphered all the bits out of one of my symbolic/choppy dreams until about a week ago:
The first part of my dream was taken care of and I understand but in the another part of my dream I'm in the lobby of the music theater I work for; it's night and the theater is empty with very few lights on. I hear some music coming from inside the auditorium so I enter it. I look around the theater and all the chairs have been torn out and there are little bits of rebar (metal used in construction) sticking up from the floor where they were attatched and a small amount of broken concrete is scattered here and there; some of the concrete is so busted it's a powder.
In reality: In 2001 the theater announced that it would be getting new chairs to replace the old and I remembered the dream and was nervous about what it would look like and weather it would look like in my dream. 2 weeks ago they began to take out the chairs and 1 week ago in the evening (the "it's night" part of my dream) I had to pick up some sheet music from the theater with my mother. I started from the lobby, which is the only unlocked enterence at that time of evening, and went into the auditorium where the troup was rehersing (the "Music in the auditorium" part of my dream). I looked around and saw theat 3/4ths of the theater chairs had been removed and all that was left in its place was 2 inch skrews sticking up from the floor where the seats had been (the rebar part of the dream) and a ton of blackish-grey dust from poor cleanings during the 35+ years the seats had been there (the scattered concrete bits).
If anyone has stories of dreams of their own, which have literally come true, post there here!

Why are you proud of dreaming about the future? If you predict it, doesn't that mean you are doomed to follow that path?
I guess it doesn't matter if you dream only of a place or a minor event, but what happens if it's any more complex?
Does knoweldge of an event cause that event, or is the future still malleable?

Hey, I just have the dreams  I have no idea about the philisophical side... Everything I've seen in dreams had been totally minor... I had a dream just last night that I had X-men toys that gave me superpowers of the depicted charcters but the bad guy and his 2 were-wolf-ish lackies knocked the toys away from me and then tore me apart (after a night fight on my part, might I add), but that doesn't make me think that I'm doomed to be killed by a wizard and his giant dogs after beeing robbed of a handful of magical X-Men action-figures...
When these dreams would happen, I don't know if it's just a detail of the dream or something that I will see in real life. One dream freaked me out- I'm dreaming that I'm in bed, then sit up and there's a brown-robed-faceless-being in my room; I say "Who are you?" and wake up as it starts to float towards me... It's no fun to talk to an imaginay grim reaper. About a week later I see a play I'd never seen before and there's a joke where a brown monk's robe is thrown onto the stage, un-crumples and held up to show what is is, and thrown back off the stage. About 3 weeks after that, an episode of Buffy (whose plot and title were kept secret for suspence in the season) was titles "Who Are You?"
See? Couldn't tell creepy dream from something in my future until it happened, and if I'd have teken it at face value, I'd have assumed I was gonna be killed in my sleep and my spirit was gonna wake up to find Death in my room...
Philisophically speaking= I have no idea if we're bound to relive the prophicized future... I'd like to think that it can be changed (kinda like the way it's changed in the Dead Zone series) but how would anyone be able to predict on command if the change is for the better or worse? Maybe "If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen"...

I have some really brief prophetic dreams, but they usually fortell random things that are going to happen at school (example: who is going to try and trip me in the hallway at lunch). They're usually acurate, but for the most part, kind of useless...

:notworthy I practically worship my prophetic dreams. They've taught me so much about me and my family's futures. Hell, I've even seen our future house in California. I think that I know what I'm gonna look in 3 years time, and I already know the name of our non existent dog.
Sometimes I get flashes of the future when I'm having a random dream. (Yanno, like photographs.) I usually forget about those till I see them in real life. Othertimes, I get movies, me watching them from different perspectives. Some of these 'movies' have sound, others don't. Some are just a blather of wierd things, coming with very strong emotions.
I never remember, or know them as prophetic dreams until it really happens. And you really can change the future, even if you dreamed of it a certain way.
 I dreamed of a certain 'photo', and in my dream heard myself saying this; "Why even bother to come, if she's probably not even awake". (A rough translation from french..)
In real life, I started off by saying the first bit, (Why even bother to come, -I paused- If she....) and then I stopped, remembering that I had dreamed it before.
With prophetic dreams, d-shifts and a lot of lucid dreaming mashed together, it really does tire you out, even though you're asleep. ;)

Thats where Deja Vu comes from. Sometimes, I would be sleeping, and just dream randomly. Here I am, not knowing i'm getting images, but i'm getting them. Then, you get there, and realize you've seen it before. Thats where you can make the choice. Its all really interesting. I'll be talking to my girlfriend about something, and i'll remember doing it, and say i'm sorry afterwards. So, damn. Y'know? It just helps, knowing things sometimes. For all you know, you've already saved yourself and your pals.

Because I'm the 'weird kid' at school, people always ask me to tell them what their dreams mean. I've been doing it since 5th grade, so I've heard a lot of dreams. But every dream that I hear (prophetic ones, anyway) are always cryptic and, although simple to decipher, they never really say what they mean....
However, all my dreams are surprisingly straight forward.
Like this one time, I had a dream that I couldn't see anything clearly and I was walking through a misty sorta place with trees on either side of me. I had a vague feeling of wanting to get inside of someplace, and that I was somehow locked out. It was a very lonely feeling, so I went looking for a door. Suddenly I realized how hugry I was, and looked down. There on the floor was a trail of shiney, new quarters. I picked them up one by one and went on my way. I found an old guy selling burgers, so i bought one eith the money I found. He opened The Door (it seemed to come out of nowhere) for me.
A week or so later I was at the Fox Hills mall trying to get a new perscription for my glasses. My dad ordered them a while ago, so I was supposed to go in, get the new lens put in and get out. They lady at the counter was a trainee and see almost wrecked my frames getting one lens out. She suggested that I wait for her senior to come back from lunch. I desided to walk around the mall to kill time. My mom said not to take the glasses with me. I agreed, what good would they have done with only one lens? I had to take them off and leave them with my mother so they could put the new lenses in.
The optomitrist's is on the top floor of the mall, and you can only access it from the parking lot. So I had to get to the interior of the mall by leaving through sliding doors, walking across the lot and entering another set of door a few yards awya from the first. That's kinda confusing, but if anyone's ever been there they'll understand.
Anyway, all the concret looked hazy with out my glasses and I was reminded of the mist. There are even trees planted around the lower parking levels. So far so good?
I realized I was hungry and though of going back inside to ask my mom for some money, I was only two feet from the doors, why not?
I turned around, but the automatic doors would not open. I tried knocking, but I don't think anyone heard or saw me.
So I made up my mind to go into the mall and wait for my mother to come get me.
While trotting through the lot I saw a five dollar bill laying on the ground. There were no cars on this level, and no one was about. The bill might have belonged to David Bowie, for all I knew. So I took the money and went to get some food. An old guy in a McDonald's uniform held the door open for me ( food court is on the sub third level, McDees on the right side of the stairs) as I passed in and he out. Cool.
I got my food, ate and thought to try the door again. This time it opened like it was supposed to and I found the glasses ready for me when I got there.
As far as dreams go, I felt mine was very specific.
I've got a bunch more, even more specific and spot on that this.

I like to think that having dreams like that are giving you a choice about the future.....

No. Deja Vu (also called paramnesia) is mostly considered an error in memory. This can occur in dreams or you may encounter a scene and think you dreamt it before. However, it is usually down to false memory.
It is believed that deja vu occurs when there is a "mistake" in memory. Typically as you process sensory input it is in the Short Term Memory (STM) and moves on to Long Term Memory (LTM) after deeper processing. Deja vu occurs where the brain accidentally processes information to LTM and thus is triggered by out to STM as a memory: making you feel great familiarity for an event even though it is your first experience of the event. However this is only one of many theories.
For more information on Deja Vu please read the Deja Vu thread here (http://www.werewolf.com/vb/showthread.php?t=398 8).

A few days ago I had a dream that there was a car crash in front of my house. It was a bad one, head-on collision, and a girl died.
Yesterday when I was coming home from work, there was an accident a couple of miles from my house. It looked horrible. It seemed to me that the person had tried to make a left turn and didn't see the car coming their way. The car was probably traveling 55-60 mph because this is a state route. The car that was turning spun around and ended up about 100 feet away from the intersection.
I was really upset because I remembered that in my dream, someone had died. I don't know if anyone did or not.
Also yesterday, a girl at my school was driving with her mom on the highway. They ran into a broken-down car. The car was totaled, but luckily no one died. The girl and her mom were injured, but not too bad. It they hadn't had their seatbelts on, they would have died.
EDIT - Damn, and I thought I was being original. Thanks for moving this, whoever did that. I'll look more carefully next time.
