View Full Version : What Hell Is

I don't really believe in hell, aetheist that I am... but of course I've thought about it. And this is what I've come up with...

I used to think that hell was an extremely small space. ALmost, but not quite, like being trapped in concrete. There is no sensation, and only the sound of your own breathing. There is nothing to look at and nowhere to move. I think that after about four hours with no external stimulation, I'd go completely insane and just start screaming endlessly. That'd be pretty bad.

But then I was thinking today... Hell is probably just being whatever stunted version of a werewolf that I already am. I'm going to go through my entire life knowing that the ONE thing that I desire, the one thing I would do anything for, I can NEVER have. And it's not some stupid thing like a million dollars or a car or something... I feel like I need this to make me whole. And I'll never have it. It will cut me infinitely, in a thousand miniscule ways, until the day I die. ...And I've got the feeling that's going to be a while.

But anyways... enough Goth poetry for today. ...Anybody have an opinion on the afterlife? ...Or advice on the whole werewolf quandary?

Hell for me would be Christianity's Heaven.

Personally I think the afterlife is just a different version of this one. Only no planets or anything or common natural laws, things are random and spicier and stuff. It forever expands, the land, growing as people die and join. That's what I envision it to be.

In my own beliefs, a person's soul is made up of many parts (nine, to be exact). Some of those parts are destroyed at death. Some of those parts are passed down along the family line. Some go on to a more traditional type of afterlife.

Valhalla is the best known of these, but it's reserved for those who die in battle. There are other Halls my people go to as well, depending upon their station in life, what kind of lives they lead, and how they died.

It's a little bit complicated to explain in the context of a forum post.

I can't believe in hell, I find it hard to believe that the afterlife consists of a good place and a bad place (aka heaven and hell). I'd like to believe that when I die I will be dead and the only eternal life I will lead will be through passing of my corpse into the hands of nature who will us it to fertilise the plants. The whole thought of 'living' after death freaks me out (I guess afterlife would be my definition of hell). When I die I want to be oblivious to everything- a nice eternal sleep sounds good to me.

I don't believe in a christian heaven or hell. For that I would have to believe in god. But if hell is a place of pain, struggle, agony, strife, and fears, then this plane of existence, this place that we attempt to live and not just survive, this is hell. This is hell because at any moment things can get worse, there is no certainty that you will retain your happiness, and there are those that lurk around you waiting to rip your happiness away from you and send you into pits of despair. What could be more hellish than never knowing the truth about your entire existence and having to rely upon false hopes, false gods, and false dreams. The only way to get through this hell is to become a god.

For me the judochristian version of hell has always seemed like heaven why? I'm not going to get into that. But think if there really was a version of hell I would have to say it is the inbetween years of our existence. Not just the teen years but like the ones where you are on the edge of turning 30 or 40 or even just wating for your death at old age. Not to mention the limbo that comes from suffering a disease or cancer over even watching people suffer this disease.
I think if were truly to be punished in our after lives if would be to be reborn again and again.

Want to know what hell is... I will tell you.. and you will fear...
you will cringe in terror. You won't be able to close your eyes at night. You won't be able to eat or drink. You will pace in nervous anticipation at the single most thought in your head. A thought that will drive you literally virtually insane, if you're not already. It tingles at the back of your mind, constantly taunting you, constantly pricking your brain until it is an amorphous mass of thinking matter, that is waisted on the sensless fears of which I am about to reveal to you, for Hell itself has been unleashed...for...

Wraywolf is now 16 and legally able to drive...

The world ends....

Be affraid...

Hell is sitting in traffic on your way to work and realizing all you had for breakfast was two cups of coffee and a bran muffin.

Hell would be a never ending concert with britney spears and n'sync. I'd rather burn for eternity then listen to that crap they call music.

Someone told me a theory of the afterlife and it kind of made sense to me. This is Hell! If your a good person, which basically is determined by your capacity to love and accept others love you are able to go to some sort of paradise (no one knows what it's like). If your a bad person you are reincarnated and continue to live in hell. Not saying this is true, but I find it interesting.

Anyone familiar with the heaven and hell mentioned in Anne Rice's "Memnoch; the devil"? I'd rather live in sheol then heaven or hell.

to me its just made to everything you dont want it to be. Heaven will be exactly the way you want it, and hell will be exactly the way you want it or dont wand it i guess.

I personally don't beilive in heaven or hell. But if hell is real I think it would be all your greatest fears come to life. Like I hate Wolf Spiders and Clowns! I would be tortured by Wolf Spiders dressed as Clowns doing soft shoe as I'm strapped into a chair with tooth picks holding my eyes open so I must watch! Hell would tottally Sux!! :droolbloo

I've thought about the christian version of hell. A place of fire ruled by Satan, a fallen angel who thought himself as powerful as God. Well, I've come to this conclusion, if hell does exist, then it probably won't be as bad as you've heard. Satan was never as powerful as God, so anything he could do to you wouldn't be real. If it isn't real, it won't affect you unless you let it be real. As for the fiery part, it's possible hell is Mercury.....we should probe there just to check.

Well Biblically speaking, Satan does not rule Hell. In fact, I don't believe the Bible ever mentions Satan living in hell, as many people protray his dwelling.

The Bible describes Hell, as Outer Darkness, the Lake of Fire, a place of torment for Satan and his followers, the fallen angels or demons, as they are so called.

It is a place of loneliness, pain, and guilt. The ultimate seperation between God and man.

Biblically that is what Hell is.

However, I still believe all hell will be unleashed on Earth once Wraywolf gets his license. Yeah he might live in California, but he now has the power to leave the state... :D
