View Full Version : Outside of "Reality"

Once again, if this is in the wrong forum, I'm sorry. I really wasn't sure where to put this.

OK, so like everone, I've been bouncing around this board and reading all sorts of threads, but lately have taken notice to the claims of interaction or what-have-you, with things that aren't part of reality and the chastising that comes after it. Naturally, there are some people who are young and stupid (like I was when I was about 16), but there are some people who I think are in fact legitimate to, at least, a degree. OK, so vamps don't come to you in the clubs and offer you drinks, and werewolves don't pounce up to you so you can pet them, and you don't do any sort of inter-dimensional travel, but do we really know the whole "truth" in life. I mean REALLY know.

I personally would give up all my blissful ignorance just to know what else there is to life (even though sometimes I think I am stupid for this), and I suppose that to a point, I already have. I can't give you detailed elaborations as to why I think there is more to life than the "normal", mostly due to the fact of I can't explain it, but some information I choose to withhold.

Have you ever gone out looking for the paranormal? Have you ever tried to see it with your own eyes, feel it with your own senses? I used to. To make a long story short :adds her short anecdote:, I used to seek something, some sort of presence, that was very apparent to all the spiritual people in my city. I didn't know what it was, but I wanted to find out. A lot of weird things happened during my search, and I kept a journal of all the weird occurances, but for some strange reason, I can't find it anywhere these days. If I knew where it was, (I kept it on a floppy disk) I would paste it here for all to see, but... . Physically, I did come away empty-handed from my search, but I knew there was something there. I just knew, and the people who were with me also just knew.

In the movie "Blade", he said that the world humans live in is just a sugar coating of the real world (or something very close to that). All in all, do you believe that saying? Do you believe there is more to this world, or have humans discovered it all? I'm curious about your guys' feedback.

I think people perceive the world around them in different manners and while I can't prove or disprove my experiances I know what I have seen. While I do credit the existence of creatures and entities beyond our knowing I do not believe every crack pot who claims to be a werewolf. I also don't think that there are vampires on the internet that are discovering their inner bloodsucker.

What I can do is take the factual evidence presented and gathered by others and myself and make an educated hypothesis about certain creatures, events, and experiances. But pictures of soap bubbles do not mean that ghosts exist, some one in the backwoods claiming that bigfoot is terrorizing his sheep does not mean that bigfoot is there, and the shining of red eyes in the night doesn't mean that there is a monster waiting to pounce.

It is possible that there are vampires and werewolves and things that go bump in the night, but there is no solid proof that they exist and until such time as they are, then I reserve the right to remain a skeptic and question those that proclaim that they are in fact a werewolf, a vampire, or some other creature of supernatural origin.

Yeah, but facts and proof aside, what do YOU believe? Do you think there is more out there? Or like I asked before, do you think humanity has pretty much discovered it all?

pictures of soap bubbles do not mean that ghosts exist

I hate orbs!!!! Probably half of all orb pictures are the product of inferior digital cams that can't pixelate just right in that area and hence, an orb. I ghost-hunt myself, but I hate fricking' orbs! Mists and vortexes come in second place of things I hate to see in ghost pics. :composes herself: Anyway, now that I'm done with that little rant...

I personally believe there is more out there,if not for the comfort of knowing life is more interesting and intriguing than paying bills and working until you die. What kind of existence is that if there's nothing to look forward to?

I have always said theres something else out there, but i know we'll never be able to prove it.

Personally I believe that there is more out there. Why you ask? Simple, I've seen and felt it myself. I know there are ghosts, because I've experienced things that can not be explained any other way. There are other things I could get into, but to be honest I have little desire to think about that portion of my life. I guess that unless you experience something yourself, you will probably never truly believe. However for those like myslf who have had the 'pleasure'(doubt that's the right way to put it, but oh well) of the experience, there can be no doubt. Seeing is believing as the old proverb goes.

I think that we have not even come close to discovering all that is. Despite all the faith and confidence we place in science, with all its facts, proofs, and laws, it has been wrong in the past. However, when it is/was wrong, it was becuase we lacked the evidence we needed to draw a conclusion with more truth to it. And now, I think that to say our science is perfect and explains it all is arrogance; we are aware of the holes in our theories, and when we fill in some of those gaps, those theories will change, and open doors to things we haven't discovered yet.

Hope that made sence.

It depends on what you mean by "is there more out there?"

I think sciences and mathematics are childs play to what we will know 500 years from now, and they say that less that 1% of the plant-life in the rainforest has been scientifically discovered (maybe it's 2%, I can't quite remember). So if you're looking at it from that point of view, then yes there is tons of information out there that we do not know yet.

Paranormal-wise is both the same and different. If you're a believer, there is much to learn and prove about the paranormal, and if you're a skeptic then there is much to learn and disprove. Either way there is plenty to discover, but the question is if it is real or not.

I hope I understood the question right amd I hope I didn't ramble too much.

Wolffy - I absolutely love what you are trying to say!

Being one of the more older heads on this site - the whole "what is reality" in life has ticked and tocked in my head for many a year. I have tried religion. And I've tried athiesm. And I am not really completely happy with either.

I think there is something out there - but I think it is mystery. I think there is a depth to life we are missing. But I cannot really work it out. And trying to unravel it is the last thought at night before sleep...

I believe such too. What I'm saying is that it seems that if you take a digital camera anywhere dark and snap a shot, you will have orbs. Here, check this link and you will see what I am talking about http://www.prairieghosts.co m/digital.html This is why I question many orbs (which are usually from digital cameras)

That aside, I mostly meant the question in the paranormal/spirituality sense, but the mundane world can still apply to this question.

Wolffy - are you the kind who has to see to believe? Or do you have faith in something without needing to see?

I work a lot on faith, but I would love to find evidence, like in my ghost-huntings. That would be awesome.

However, I think when it comes to some things, we will never find evidence, and I believe that's how it's supposed to be.
