I wanted to start a thread about this subject in particular. I wondered what people's opinions about this. I know it's a touchy subject and it's interpreted based on weather you've read the Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha. It's all opinion though. I'd love to hear opinions.

You need to be more specific or this post will be deleted as an irrelevant topic.

The falling of the star wormwood, the gathing of the armys at Megiddo, or current events like the spliting of Israel the occupation of the holy city by foriegn powers, the attetion on the middle east.

Revelations is a very deep book. From what I've studied though the book is actually written in a code for the Christians under the Roman Empire. The book was written by St. John who was banished to the island of Patmos. During this period of time, a certain Emperor named Nero rose to power. He was an awful man and did many bad things, and he especially hated the early Christians, in fact he blamed the start great fire on them. Anyway the Christians were in serious trouble. John saw that if he didn't give them some quick encouragement, the early church would collapse. So he wrote Revelations. Revelations was written in a way, that the Christians could understand, and the Roman Soldiers couldn't, so the young Christians could keep practicing their faith under the strict nose of Nero.
However...
John did give several prophecies, that even though they were applicable back then, seem to be most curiously applicable today.
Some examples, are the changes in the weather. The world getting hotter, more arid.
The daming of the Euphraties River, of which is being done.
The falling of the Star Wormwood, that would poison the land. Remember the Chernobyle Nuclear accident. Chernobyle means Wormwood....

yes, J.L.R is right. I've read histories of Revelations and it was ment for the Chrisitans under Roman rule to give them hope.
many people see Revelations as just a symbolic book used to scare people into acting good. but it's not just a symbolic book that a crazy guy wrote or used to scare people. many of the things John mentions in Revelations, Jesus himself mentioned were going to happen when the end times come such as great earthquakes, stars falling to the sky, moon going blood red and such. Jesus himself mention these things happening in the gospels. so there must be something behind that. so even though it seems like a pretty outrageous book to read and very difficult to understand, it's very relevent.
Now a lot of stuff in there is symbolic and is hard to understand. but a lot of it is things that Jesus mentioned.

John wasn't the only book of armagedion, one of the peters had one but in his everyone was eventually allowed in to heaven. Plus the book of Revalations takes place over a thousand years. Meaning it will happen twice. The secound round is coming.
At least it's the relatively tame Apocalypse from the Bible and not the Muslim apocalypse, cause if it is then we are royally screwed.
Unless you fancy fighting off plagues of dog sized demons that get everywhere.
Actually *consults his bad memory for the signs of apocalypse in Islam*... oh dear.

And I feel fine!"
