As some of you know I kind of love sayings - I have a list of several hundred of them on my computer which I've made up or come upon at some time.

So what are your favourites (yes I spelled that word right - I'm English remember ;) ), are there any you live your life by?

I'll start the ball rolling with my family motto ...

Nothing of steel is made without fire, and the trials of life are the flames from which we draw strength.

[ie shit happens but you usually end up stronger from it] :)

Good one - Indiana Jones lives by that one! :)

You know, I thought I was the only one in this entire world who knew that.

Asking what one should inquire about is a good start.

I'm going to go in a little bit of a different direction and give you some phrases that Grim uses constantly. They are not inspiring or even logical, but they are Grim's favorite sayings.

"What am I? A billionaire?" (when dealing with money)
"That's the shaft." (when something is bad)
"...Back to animal cruelty." (when conversation lags)
"Wicked awesome." (when something is good)
"So I says to the guy..." (when paraphrasing during a story)
"That's quality." (when something is pretty good but not great)
"I'll show YOU >insert noun<!"
"I'll >insert noun< YOU!"
"I got'cher >insert noun< right here!" (Grim's trifecta of responses for anything someone could mention)

So yeah. That should give you a good idea of what it's like to hang out with Grim.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

I have a few:

' The more we know the less we are sure'

' I'm unloved, unappreicated *kick* ..unconscious'

' Intelligence isn't about being good at maths or being the pub quiz champion it's about the want and need of asking why'

' Lies may blind you, the truth with bind you'

' Smile, it's what they do here'

I want everyone who thinks I'm annoying for asking too many questions to read this...understand this...this is what I am.

Anyway...on with mine,

"Some mother f*ckers are always trying to ice skate uphill." I thank the movie Blade for this one...I've used it several times.

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" I've lived amongst women far too long to know how true this is.

That one is pretty cool.

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" I've lived amongst women far too long to know how true this is.

I personally feel it should be "Hell hath no fury like a woman (FULL STOP)" ... actually that would make a pretty good tag line for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Or how about "With women theres no such thing as fair sex" ;)

Here's a couple good lines from Atlas Shrugged.

"I swear by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another to live for mine."

after saving John Galt's life-
John Galt: "Thank you."

Fansico D'Anconia: "When you realize that I only act for my own self-interest, you won't have to thank me."

John Galt: "THAT is why I'm thanking you."

"It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are fool, then to open it and remove all doubt" :D

"If my heart were weighed in gold, it would weigh me down like lead"

"What is this a Big Brother economy?"

I hated 1984, don't EVER read that book for a school report
