Ok so I decided to check out Bush and Kerry. So where better to look than online and find their websites. And yes today we have the Bush and Kerry websites, reaching out to the new and old generation through the computer and internet.

So the first site I went to was George W. Bush's site (http://www.georgewbush.com) .

Now good ole George his campaign people are working so hard for him. It makes me wonder if he has even been to his own site. You see the first thing you are greeted with is a video presentation that you can click on. It's headline is "Kerry voted against Body Armor for our Troops".

Then to the right of that is a picture of Kerry and it has the words "John Kerry the Raw Deal"

To the left is a link to the Kerry Media Center. This link takes you to a page that monitors Kerry's campaign trail. If you click on a state that he has been to, Bush's people list all the reasons why Kerry is bad for that state. Now it doesn't say that Bush does or does not support the same ideals as Kerry, it just says that Kerry doesn't support this, and doesn't want that, and supports this, and it's all bad for your state.

I really hope they aren't using valuable money to track John Kerry this way. Now if you scroll down you can see the anti-Kerry television ads. Those are very heart warming.

So then you have the Cheney Chat and the Party for the President links. See our president is hip....

Now lets go back to the Kerry tracking. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see more mean evil kerry propaganda and then you will see the suggested reading list.

Plan of Attack
by Bob Woodward

Ten Minutes from Normal
by Karen Hughes

Letters to My Daughters
by Mary Matalin

America: A Patriotic Primer
by Lynne Cheney

Bush Country
by John Podhoretz

The Right Man
by David Frum

and my very favorite,

Deliver Us from Evil
by Sean Hannity

You can explore more of Bush's site. It's amusing and good for a laugh, really.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Now let us journey over to John Kerry's Site (http://johnkerry.com/).

Now Kerry's page has articles and pictures of him and about him.

http://johnkerry.com/images/home/042604_jobsfirst.jpg

Good image there John! Doesn't he look so caring. He too has a tour watch, of his own tour. No listing of why Bush is evil. and in fact the whole front page has only 2 little things about Bush badness. It says

"President Bush: Stop Using Our Tax Money to Fund Your Campaign!"

Now I can agree with that, can't you?

and...

Kerry Offers Middle-Class Three Times As Much Tax Relief As George Bush

Now I rather like that one too. Less taxes are always good. Funny though, Bush says Kerry is against tax breaks. Oh well.

Now onward my friends. Ok well I haven't clicked on every link but I have noticed something odd. Kerry has no link about Bush. There is no tracking of Bush. No little movie about how he is so horrible, no state to state commentary on how Bush is the evil of all people.

Hmmmmmmm

-----------------------------------------------------------------

So here you have it folks the "Kerry is the Anti-Christ" site and the "I am a poster boy for all that is good" site.

Now we all know that Kerry isn't a wonderful person and that he has some serious flaws. But shouldn't Bush be worried about the horns on his own head?

I dunno, you decide, my conclusion after viewing both sites....

You do realize that picture changes daily? So I'm sad to say that I'm stuck with picture of a bunch of morons standing in front of a poster.

It's good advertising, though.
Kerry has to prove to people that he could do good. Given that he doesn't have a particularly long record or anything to put behind his name. There's people who are undecided about him. Or people who just seem him as too much of a pain in the butt to vote for. I do kind of pity Kerry's "Bush is Taking Money From Taxpayers" political attack, just because there's so many better things that could be done (or ones with actual... wrongdoing, or proof. GAO would laugh at that one), but the rest of the site is good, if spartan. Oh, and that pose is getting old. As is the got Kerry T-shirt.
Bush doesn't have to do that. People either love him or hate him already, and there aren't many swing voters. He just needs to make sure to knock as many people from voting Kerry as possible. I do have to praise the design, though; pro-Bush stuff plastering the top-left and anti-Kerry taking over the bottom right. Yes, there's more stuff about Bush than I really wanted to know. And no, I can't see why he's still proud of the No Child Left Behind Act.

And the worst thing? The fact that every single one of those attacks (and defenses) are 'true'. It's just the spin.

The Question

These online presentations are targeted towards the common minds, people that are either accustomed to making up their mind before hearing the facts, or are easily convinced by such amatuer rhetoric. Frankly, they aren't worth paying attention too. Both men are the poster boys for their entourage of corporate interests. Instead of wasting your time digesting and criticising their insignificant websites, try reviewing the interests of their sponsors instead.

I.E. both men are merely figureheads, focus more on what their contributors' interests are, as that will be the guiding force in their decisions once they attain power.
