No offense I don't like Bush any more than the next reasonable, intelligent person, but this list is continually regurgitated everywhere. In fact didn't YOU yourself post this a few years ago? I think everyone is currently aware Jr. isn't playing with a full deck.

Actually someone asked me to post this because while I had discussed this in chat before I hadn't actually posted this here and they wanted to see the whole list.

G Dubbya and God (or whatever deity you believe in.) were sitting on a boat. God told GW to walk on the top of the water. GW shakily climbed out of the boat, into the water. Much to his surprise, he walked from the boat to the shore and back again on top of the water. The headlines in the next days newspaper read-

GEORGE BUSH CAN'T SWIM!!!

Although I find this post to be extremely hilarious, it also confirms what I have suspected of George W. for a long time. That he is an idiot and regardless of all of the book knowledge that he may have aquired over the years, he doesn't have a lick of common sense.

It's kind of funny though if you think about it. He tries so hard to be clever and often evassive in his answers, but he just comes off sounding even dumber than he already is.

Well, later everyone,

i think bush is actually dislexic so we really shouldnt be making fun of him........when it comes to the things he says but when it comes to his actions he is a complete idiot with no regard for others so making fun of him is just a joy!if only i could talk to him face to face........

Once again, do not use Dyslexia as an excuse for his complete ignorance/utter stupidity. If you have Dyslexia you may exchange a number or letter here or there, but problems like that usually disappear by the time the person is 8 years old. This is a lame excuse that doesn't even apply to our President (if he has it).

Make fun of him all you want. He deserves it.

no dislexia can stay all of your life not just till your 8,and the stupid things he says could actually be due to dislexia there is more than one form,im still not 100% sure that he has it but im pretty sure
but yet again even his actions show he is a complete jackass so i make fun of him just as much as the next person

Again, you're wrong. Dyslexia is not a disease. It's a learning disability characterized by difficulties with accurate and / or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. You will not come across a post-graduate adult exhibiting dyslexic qualities because they've developed OUT of it. It's a LEARNING disability, and not a SPEAKING disability, nor a WRITING disability, god dammit.

Additionally, George Bush does not have dyslexia. (http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:_lTBX YkbMUkJ:www.bushnews .com/dyslexia.htm+dyslexi a+george+bush&hl=en) That's just a stupid rumor started in an attempt to save his face.

When the story broke on Monday, Sept. 11, one aide suggested Sheehy had George W. mixed up with brother Neil, who has dyslexia
Edit: As a final note, I never said that "Dyslexia goes away when you are 8", I said that the problems do.

How about this as an excuse for Bush; he's in front of a thousand clicking cameras and busy talking to the whole free world. People have enough problems just giving a speech to their graduating class or walking up a set of stairs without tripping in those settings; so I think a few speaking errors are understandable. It doesn't make someone a moron, just a bad public speaker. That, I'm sorry to say, is undeniable.

But I hope at least a couple of those were jokes.

No, none of them were jokes, they were all serious statements made in press conferences or speeches.

i never said dislexia was a disease and i know perfectly well what it is some people in my family have it and yes it can effect your speaking

Forget Dubya, anybody catch Rummy's press conference today? Haven't laughed that hard in weeks.

This is kind of interesting - I never thought of it quite this way, but the idea of Dubya as what's called a "dry drunk" makes a certain amount of sense. There's more wrong there than the adult traces of a verbal learning disorder, although it seems clear he has some kind of persistent language processing problem too, more in the ability to keep syntax untangled while sentences are being produced.

No, again, it does not effect your speaking. It's a learning disorder. It effects how you learn to say things, not how you say them.

I watched it, Star; it's like the Daily Show without Jon Stewart. ;)

Rumsfeld spews some of the funniest shite I've ever heard. Here's a sample:

The message is that there are no knowns. There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns -- that is to say, there are things we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns: things we do not know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and then we say, "Well, that's basically what we see as the situation," that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year we discover a few more of those known unknowns.

Frickin' priceless! :D

No, again, it does not effect your speaking. It's a learning disorder. It effects how you learn to say things, not how you say them. I guess the "it" you are speaking of is dyslexia per se. I agree with you that dyslexia generally does not affect speech production at all. I'm not talking about dyslexia, however. I'm talking about speech production. There are a great many language disabilities, of both the encoding and decoding variety, that can be very subtle or very overt, and that are quite distinct from the range of reading disabilities. Some of them hinge on working memory, others on phonemic decoding, and others on subtle motor output deficits. I am not a specialist, but I have studied the range of learning disabilities and done some testing of children and adults under supervision, and I (and others) think there's something of this nature up with Dubya. I do agree with you that it's likely not dyslexia, and if that label for him was put out there as an "excuse" at some point, then it was done because many people think all language deficits are lumped under the category "dyslexia".

If Dubya was compromised in some way by years of drinking, it would very likely be in the white matter of the brain under the cerebral cortex. That tissue is typically damaged by excessive and prolonged alcohol consumption. The white matter mediates connectivity between the cortical "gray matter" processing areas, so a whole crap shoot's worth of overt and subtle deficits can result from that kind of damage, not only in reasoning and language processing, but personality as well, depending on just what areas of white matter got fried. (Some of them are more vulnerable than others, but it's a chinese menu of things that can go wrong.) If it interests you at all, you can try googling on "Byron Rourke" and/or "white matter model."
